The Switchback Expert has better frame geometry compared to a Trek Marlin. Up grading the heavy coil spring fork is not a problem with the tapered head tube to a light weight air spring fork will shave 5 lbs. off the bike. The rear wheel hub is a 141mm qr. is a limiting factor. No through axel. You can up grade to a 11 speed on the stock rear wheel. a new rear wheel with a Shimano wh- mt500 hub with microsline free wheel will get you 12 speed. The bike is light and fast and fun to ride. Sale price of$ 550 is hard to beat.

Had a few issues getting the bike from Dick ’s. I made the trip 3 TIMES, the first time I was emailed that it was Ready, get there and they said it still needed to be assembled. I come back later when they said it was good. I Get there and they tell me they had an issue with the assembly process and configuring the cassette to shift smoothly. End up going home for the night. Came back in the morning and the bike was finally ready. I just took it out on its first ride this morning and I ’ m pretty impressed with the bike, as I ’ m 6ft 1 and 250lb. The bike held up just fine. I would recommend upgrading to an Air Fork assembly though.

[ Im big on outdoors and love riding bikes on the trails! I was very surprised by this Switchback Comp from Mongoose. Mongoose is a well known name but I never realized they had such a beast like this and had to give it a try. First off packaging was really good and bike was completely protected. Was a really simple assembly and it was fun to do because you really get to see the design and engineering that was put in it. Tectonic T1 aluminum MTB frame really made this what looks like it should have some weight to it really makes it super light and durable. It was definitely made to be used and pushed to the limit and keep on going! It is really nice all the customizable adjustments you can make to get that perfect fit for anyone who is going to use it. The 2 x 7 drivetrain with Shimano derailleur and Microshift shifters made it really smooth to shift when going down and uphills. The Disc brake was absolutely amazing and gave the smoothest braking power whether it be hard or soft, which gives you maximum control when hitting a last second turn. I am by no means a pro or even hardcore mountain biker but I will say this is a really good starter bike for those who are really trying to upgrade their game from a basic 10- speed. I have throughly enjoyed this Switchback Comp from Mongoose and really would recommend it to anyone who is trying to level up their mountain biking skills!

[ Received the bike and had my son assemble it for me. It took him about an hour and he said it wasnt too difficult. I really enjoyed this bike and felt like the suspension is definitely a game changer. I took it out on a trail and the ride was super smooth once I got used to the gears. I 'm just a beginner so I started off on a pretty flat trail. I 'm excited to work my way up to something a little more challenging and I 'm sure the bike will have no difficulty tackling it. The only thing I wish it had was a kickstand, and I think I will be changing the seat for something a little more comfortable.

[ Wow! I haven ’ t rode a mongoose bike for years and didn ’ t know what expect… well, mind blown! This bike is the most solid mountain bike I ’ ve ever tried! The tires are a bit wider with a hearty tread. It feels secure even though it ’s lightweight and handles like a dream. Putting it together was initially daunting but approaching it with a clear head and some patience, it wasn ’ t bad. It feels sturdy and the gears shift seamlessly. The height and weight of the frame are perfect and the seat is basic as far as mountain bikes go. In general, this is a solid bike that rides well on multiple applications( tried asphalt, concrete, grass, gravel and trails). I started with a 5 minute ride, did a ton of stretching, now I went 99 days with a workout everyday. I am 56 years old. I completed all of Matt ’s 120, 90, working on 75, lots of 60 minutes rides, lifted weights, walked, all with my peloton app. I can ’ t think all of Peloton for helping me. I love this bike. I never thought that I would enjoy it so much but it ’s been almost 6 years now and everyday there seems to be something new to discover. I picked up Peloton in the early fall of 2019 and of course it carried me through the pandemic but since then the depth of interesting classes and various workouts have kept me going. I added a fender to the wheel which works great. I may switch the seat post because my kids do not like the seat and it would be nice to have a seat that is easier to adjust. The ability to remove this when we get to school and allow me to finish my commute without it is why we bought this trailer bike. I love how easy it is to connect and disconnect. I also love that I can still use panniers with the trailer bike attached. The only problem with the rack is I have big feet and this rack does not allow me to shift the panniers very far back. So far my feet are not hitting the panniers, so it does work.

Love it! Use my flatbed to haul inflatable boats to and from the city lakes( for demos) and for hauling items/ gear between home and the shop. Have taken it on a few grocery runs/ errands and plan to use it on a tour or two before the summer is over. Well built, easy to assemble, easy to stow. Would not mind some intentional lash points, but there is a cargo net available. Have used a rack pack and a RUX 70L on a couple of different outings and it's a pretty versatile platform. Handles nicely on mixed surfaces and around the various twists and turns- at speed. I prefer this option to a cargo bike as I can expand and contract as needed. I have the fat tires for less desirable conditions and intend to rely on this product year round- which is a challenge in Minneapolis. Regardless, very pleased with the flatbed. If only they sold direct to dealers. I do n't do business with QBP, but would likely sell more than a few.
