[ At first, I was scared that they were gon na be uncomfortable because they look kind of like they didn ’ t have a lot of support. But, after I put them on, I was happy to see that they were actually very comfortable. I played a few games and they didn ’ t even really need to be broken into. I have wide feet and I got my regular size and they fit great. They ’ re really lightweight. The material looks like it would be fragile but I haven ’ t seen any damage or wear& tear yet.

I have very narrow feet so had to try on a few sizes and play with the lacing to get the fit right, as they were rather roomy from mid foot to toe. All managed to be fixed…and I ’ m so glad that I managed it. No break in time required, these boots are hands down the best control I ’ ve ever felt with a boot. The grip knit is a game changer for dribbling, crossing and shooting. Massively upped my game. If you ’ re looking for that next level in your game these are 100% worth the money.

The mercurials were amazingly light a quick but lacked a connection with the ball, but the Phantom changes all of that. The new knit materials as an extremely tacky coating combined with the 3D texture for a great touch on the ball. At first I was surprised how grippy they were but quickly adjusted after a few minutes. They feel like they rip the ball out of the air and make the first touch so easy. Out of the box they the toe are was a little stiff but after 5 minutes they wore in nicely. There is basically no break in time, but if trying in store you may initially think they are stiff. Traction is great and I enjoyed the 360 cleat configuration in the forefoot. It ’s been early winter and a damp, but in these there was no slipping. Heel cup has a great amount of hold and a bunch of cushion making these the most comfortable soccer cleat I own. Sole plate in the all black color way looks cheap, but performs well. They are perfectly stiff and rebound well for that “ fast ” feeling. Overall, the old mercurials are in the closet and the phantom have taken their place as my favorite Nike cleat. [ The Nike United Phantom GX 2 Academy Soccer Cleat is a great casual and club- level cleat. It allows for some flexibility and breathability in your play. It has great traction and the placement of the spikes creates a stable feel on the pitch. Running and playing in these cleats makes me feel like I can play a little longer. Perhaps it is the traction on the underfoot, or the comfort. These cleats have an excellent design and an eye- popping color scheme. I would wear these for casual play, warm- up, or during light club play.

[ While Low- Tops are not my preference, these cleats were surprisingly great. These do fit snug, so I would go a half size up if you prefer more space. My concern with low tops is the support around the ankle which these did well. The textured uppers really help with feel when dribbling and passing. A super lightweight cleat which is always nice, yet still provides enough support for those sharp turns and pivots. I used these on turf and they worked great. Overall, a great low top option!
