I 'm 40 now and can only wear vans that have the better insoles. Until these, I 've basically stuck to the Rowan 1s and have had probably 15 pairs of those. I appreciate that vans is making more shoes with a wider toe box. Very roomy and very comfortable and insoles make them almost feel like a running shoe which is nice. Shoe fit is very secure. You can wear them untied or tied tight. My one and only gripe is the tongue would still have the same puffy look if it had half the thickness. If you do n't tie them really tight, they look like `` kid shoes '' and do t fit a straight leg pant leg well. Hoping the tongue compresses as they break in.... But that's all just personal preference. Get your normal vans size. Reading other reviews, I see people recommend sizing up and I do n't understand why.
