I always run into problems with swim bottoms at the leg openings and being too snug. No matter what size I try, they always cut into the tops of my thighs while the waistband sags and it just looks incredibly unflattering. This swim skirt, while not really a traditional swim bottom, eliminates this problem. I feel a bit like I am cheating by wearing this but I also feel less self conscious. I love that the skirt does n't go out into an A- line and it hugs the body nicely to not add heft/width.
