I received this knife as part of promotional bonus for signing up to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation about one year ago. I love this little knife. I own my own Machine Shop, where I specialize in restoring old cars and trucks, and I use this knife constantly for opening boxes of parts and cutting heavy duty rubber hoses for heaters. I have yet to change blades. I have read some of these other reviews where the owners are complaining that their knives broke while they were skinning an elk, or something like that, but chances are they were abusing the knife. I bought one Gerber Strong Arm( FDE) and liked how useful it was that I bought another in Black. As a former Marine who is used to carrying a KaBar, the Strong Arm is more useful to me. I like the shorter blade, the grip, and the pommel. I sometimes like to Scout Carry a fixed blade and the Gerber Strong Arm is a great knife for that type of carry.

[ Super sharp and super smooth! I really wanted to use this on my deer this year, sadly didn ’ t even see a deer all season!!! I did try this out at home though on some meat being cut up for stew. I ’ m a huge fan of the handle, it allowed for a stronger grip for a ripping motion for skinning, and made me feel like I would be less likely to slip and cut myself. It ’s definitely a different knife but it ’s staying in my hunting pack. Highly recommend it!

I have been looking at an electric knife sharpener for two years and Smith's Handheld Electric and Manual Knife Sharpener, was a pleasant surprise. It does a good job on mostly deer hunting knifes( from old carbon steel to new stainless steel). It was especially useful for sharpening some knifes that had been relegated to the tackle box etc. becuase they were too difficult to keep sharp. Would recomend for any hunter who wanted to speed up their knife sharpening chores!

[ I 'm really impressed by everything made by Gerber, they make quality tools and top notch materials. This Jr Machete is nothing short of fantastic. The blade is both sharp and honed to a great edge. The other side of the blade is a saw style blade that really bites into the surface you 're cutting. It has tremendous versatility from chopping branches and light brush to sawing small limb and trees. I 'm really impressed with the sheath that comes with the blade. It protects the blade and more over helps the user from cutting themselves. The handle is soft and makes for easy gripping while the rope handle let's you have another layer of protection in case the machete slips out of your hand. I 'd highly recommend this tool for anyone going camping or hunting. It's small enough to hide under your seat or in your backpack.

I love this knife! My favorite EDC. Super comfortable and an easy one handed operated folder. It's not fast to put away, but the draw is quick. Gerber just needs to make a version with better steel, like S30V would be fine. 8 years in the army and I went through 3 of these. I think the clip could be better too. But jimping is amazing and the lightweight frame is on point!

I am an avid climber and one time, back when I had LONG hair, I got my hair stuck in my belay device. After making my partner, on lead, down climb the last move so I could free my hair, I decided that it was time to carry a knife for the impromptu haircut. I chose the Remix for the carabiner hole so I could attach it to my harness. Since then, I have used it for countless other tasks like cutting webbing or digging out thorns. I bought this knife over five years ago and it always comes in handy. Only one time did I have it start getting jammed up and hard to open, but that was when I forgot i had it on me before going into a concert and had to get rid of it. In stead of taking a shuttle and then getting my car out of valet I chose to shove it deep into some dirt nearby so it would n't be found and stolen. When I got it out hours later the blade was n't easy to open. All I had to do was disassemble and clean out the dirt and then it worked like new. Awesome knife.

well a little kid knocked my favorite knife off the pier today and i wish the warantee would cover that but it was a great knife, comes sharp, stays sharp and good blade thickness but lightweight and extremely durable cant believe the things it had been through( 70% of powdercoat was knocked off if that gives you any indication of how much abuse it survived, im ordering another as soon as im done with this here review, great product hope they continue to make great cheap knifes like these in the future.
