[ For a few years now the only socks I run in are Smartwool. Other similar brands pinch my toes together too tight but Smartwool does n't so I wo n't even look elsewhere. In previous winters I run with targeted cushion mid crew run socks. I did n't even know this cold weather sock existed until last week when I ordered it. I did n't expect it to actually make a difference but it totally DID! The initial cold top of my foot did n't happen. The occasional cold toes did n't happen. I swear these are n't any thicker than my other Smartwool Targeted Cushion Run socks but somehow they are warmer! My only wish is that they came mid- crew size instead of full crew since I have wide calves and these pinch a tad. I never would have bought a full crew sock if it was n't the only option, and this is probably why I never noticed the product before. In the last two days with my new socks I ran a 15k and a 5k in 40F weather. The lowest I tend to run in is 30F but I do n't look forward to that temp. With these socks I will look forward to the next cold day because I ca n't wait to find out if my feet stay warm at that temp, too.

I bought the socks to wear with trail shoes to hike the Wichita National Wildlife area in Southwest Oklahoma, and they worked out very well. It was extremely hot and humid( sweat rolling down the legs and into my shoes), but the socks prevented hotspots and blisters. [ I am a HUGE fan of smartwool especially their socks. To me they are unmatched. This specific pair of socks has become my favorite pair of socks so far. The length is perfect and the light cushion is exactly what I need for a `` regular use '' sock and trust my feet not to sweat too bad. I always test my gear to the fullest and merino is no exception, I wear each garment until I feel it is no longer comfortable or `` feels gross '' I get 4 days of comfort out of these socks without washing, by the 5th day they feel gross and need to be washed. The only thing I 'd love to see are more fun colors in smartwool socks

[ These socks are special. They are warm and soft, cuddle my feet gently and most importantly, are cheerful and fun. My first pairs of snowflakes lasted several years wearing daily. I do recommend hand washing for maximum longevity. And, you may think this silly but it is totally true: it helps if the wearer drinks plenty of water so their feet don ’ t get crusty and dry.

[ There is a little cushion in these socks that makes them extra comfy. I wear a 12- 12. 5 in most shoe brands and bought these socks in size XL. The fit is great overall, maybe a tiny bit large but nothing to complain about as the XL is intended to cover a range of foot sizes. For comparison I wear an XL in Darn Tough as well and they fit fine if maybe a touch small. I would definitely buy smartwool socks again in the future. They seem like they are holding up nicely.
