I started using Merrills like these years ago as `` heavy duty '' slippers or house shoes. Because of back problems my doctor said that I should no longer go barefoot or just wear socks when I am at home at leisure. Also I should find footwear that offers support and cushion as I worked from home on the phone and paced on a hard tile floor. Also since these shoes do not have deep treads on the bottom they are easily cleaned if I do briefly wear them outside to bring in groceries or get the mail or the newspaper.
