I got this one because I am worry having the parts that I put my mouth on exposed to the outside environment. I considered the quencher flip straw, but the top of the straw is still exposed when folded down. I also worry about mold gathering in the crevices. It does need to stay upright, because it leaks if you drop it on its side, or at least the one I have suffers from that issue. I have n't taken the time to check the gasket, so it might just need to be seated in the lid better. Overall, it's an amazing product.
