I 've tried various cups and shorts for karate, and these are by far the most comfortable. The cup is soft but sturdy, and offers great protection for those unexpected blows( also machine washable). The shorts are fantastic, and feature Shock Doctor's Ultra Cup Retention System, which is by far the best I 've seen for maintaining cup position. There is a flap at the top of the cup pocket for keeping the cup down and straps at the base of the pocket which go under and connect to the back, keeping the pocket pulled back. The cup never strayed, even during squats, kicks, or sprints. If you want consistent, comfortable protection, this cup/short combo will do the trick.

Very effective compression short-- used with or without the cup. The inner jockstrap holds the cup in place effectively, though it can be worn without the cup and provides great support. The compression effect is tighter which is nice since some compression shorts lack that quality. Only wish you could buy the shorts w/out the cup so one could additional compression shorts

I purchased your Shock Doctor's compression shorts for extra support both pre and post op for hernia surgery and wow what a difference. Although it would have been nice to offer the shorts without a cup they were worth the purchase. I actually returned to the store to purchase more unfortunately they were sold out. After wearing the previous 221 where the cup would shift around, I was skeptical at first. The revised 221 does a really nice job of keeping my jewels intact, even without a cup. The plastic cup is there for peace of mind while I wear these shorts!

My boys prefer these briefs for their athletic use. I wish that we could find them without the given cups, as the are young and prefer a soft cup. They are true to size: my 60 lb 7 yo is in a sm, my 103 lb 11 yo prefers the youth xl.
