Because of sloping shoulders, most swim suits are uncomfortable for lap swimming. This one is perfect for lap swimming, I never have to stop or interrupt the stroke to pull up the straps or fuss with the upper portion to stay in place. I am long waisted so the bottom half looks a little bit like a diaper and the cut out showed a little bit more than the model, but not terrible or a dealbreaker for me. These are the most comfortable swim bottoms I 've ever owned. I ended up buying 2 pairs. They hold up well to heavy use. I like the higher waist and the boy short cut, especially for open water swims. And you do n't have to worry about them riding up, which is always a plus. The price is a little steep, but I love them so much I 'm not mad about it.

They come up right past the hips, so they look very flattering. I bought a medium and I 'm 5'5, 138ish pounds. Based on other Calia clothes, I go between smalls and mediums depending on what it is. I have a Calia bikini top and a Calia tankini top. It goes well with both! With the bikini top, I do n't feel so exposed because the bottoms cover quite a bit. I love that since I usually feel exposed in bikinis. It looks like a one piece with the tankini top, but that's fine! Calia swimwear is the best swimwear I 've ever owned.

The description says low rise, but I would say it's more mid rise. They come right below your belly button, which for me is the best place to be the most flattering if you have any kind of tummy. I am 5'10 '' and 180 lbs and ordered an XL. They are a little roomy and I probably could have gotten a L, but I do n't like bathing suits to cut into me so I 'm going to stick with the XL.
