I had originally bought one two pack of these jigs from my local dick's. I took them out with me the next day to a local creek, after trying the trout magnets and the trout magnet mini with no success I tied one of these on with in three cast I had a nice little 12 inch brook trout. Since then these have become a permanent fixture of my brook trout box.

I love these finesse hooks. Great for crappie lures.

5 Nedrigfish228
I have caught more numbers of smallmouth and panfish on the z- man micro finesse lures than any lure I ’ ve tried. This is a great creek and small river lure. I ’ ve caught a few nice sized bass, but I would recommend the bigger zman ned jigheads if you ’ re looking for 18 ”+ smallies. The lures are tough, don ’ t tear up like most soft plastics.

Frequently Asked Questions For Best Crappie Jig Heads

When selecting the best crappie jig heads, consider features such as weight, hook size, and design. A good jig head should be heavy enough to reach the desired depth quickly while still being light enough to allow for a natural presentation. Additionally, the hook size should match the type of bait you plan to use, ensuring a secure catch.

Crappie jig heads are typically made from materials like lead, tungsten, or other metals. Lead is the most common due to its density and cost-effectiveness, while tungsten offers a smaller profile and increased sensitivity. The choice of material can affect the jig's performance, including its sinking speed and durability.

Choosing the right size jig head for crappie fishing depends on factors such as water depth, current, and the size of the bait. Generally, lighter jig heads are suitable for shallow waters or calm conditions, while heavier jig heads work better in deeper waters or strong currents. Matching the size to the bait used is also crucial for effective fishing.

Crappie jig heads come in various styles, including round, football, and stand-up heads. Round heads are versatile and work well in many situations, while football heads are designed for stability on the bottom. Stand-up jig heads are ideal for presenting bait in a vertical position, making them effective for attracting crappie in different environments.

The best conditions for using crappie jig heads typically include warmer water temperatures during the spring and early summer when crappie are more active. Additionally, fishing around structures such as submerged trees, brush piles, or docks can increase your chances of success. Adjusting your jig head weight and color based on water clarity and weather conditions can also enhance your fishing experience.

To improve your chances of catching crappie with jig heads, focus on using the right color and size that match the local forage. Experimenting with different retrieval speeds and techniques, such as slow dragging or hopping, can also be effective. Additionally, fishing during peak feeding times, such as early morning or late afternoon, can significantly increase your success rate.
