Purchased for a 3 night, 2 day music and camping festival to keep my food cold and safe. while I did add more ice, the ice on the bottom remained the entire time, from Thursday afternoon to Sunday when I got home. I am happy with the ice retention. It is great! I also purchased this for the size( and price) and while the cooler is large enough for one person's food, it is very heavy. I did n't use the shoulder strap but rather put it in a wagon and wheeled it to my campsite. I wish this smaller version came with wheels. The weight is why I did n't give it 5 stars. I realize it is heavy to keep the ice cold but I overestimated my ability to carry it and will likely never use the shoulder strap.

I bought this as a way to stop lugging the wagon with alllllll the stuff is travel sports moms need for tournaments. We have covered Hercules( “ The Beast ” from The Sandlot) with baseball stickers. [ was hesitant at first about this and if I 'd actually use it, but once I got it and found a space for it in my car's trunk I instantly knew it was gon na be the perfect piece for my day to day use. im a film photographer in LA so I spend a lot of time in my car sitting in traffic and have to carry a lot of gear in my car that should n't be in a lot of heat. I ended up using the backpack cooler for extra water and gatorade and to keep all any film and sensitive cameras to keep em out of this deadly heat wave we 've been on. also useful cuz I hate carrying huge coolers to the beach and dragging those heavy things through the sand, this got rid of all that and is large enough fit food and drinks but the large straps do n't make it uncomfortable or too heavy on the shoulders!

It is on the larger side( 54 quarts) and easily held all of our food for a 4 day camping trip for our family of 4, but still fit nicely in the trunk of our small car with the rest of our camping supplies. The cooler construction is very nice! The latch is nice and sturdy and the cooler lid can hold up to 250lbs( worked as an in a pinch chair!) When we were all done with our trip, the cooler was super easy to drain! It has a built in channel drain, so you do n't have to awkwardly tilt it to empty it. We will be using this cooler quite a bit this summer!
