The family was getting ready for a 2 week trip to Europe. I told them we would be walking 100 miles in 2 weeks, and would need to find great walking shoes. After experiencing heel pain similar to a time where I had plantar fasciitis I immediately scheduled time with a doctor at Twin Cities Orthopedics. He found that while I did not have plantar fasciitis I needed to strengthen my foot muscles& use an insole that would provide better arch support. Among the options he recommended was the Superfeet brand. I started using them& found some immediate relief for the pain. Between the insoles& exercised I have received noticable relief that keeps improving. Very pleased with the product to this point. This is the third pair of battery operated heated insoles I 've owned. They are an indispensable piece of gear that enables me to spend hours outdoors during the long winters in our high mountain climate. One of the features I like best is that this brand of insoles has a longer tab at the heel so you can actually grasp the tab in order to remove the insole when you are done. Other brands have a tab which is too short rendering it useless. I 've only had this particular pair for a couple months now so the jury is out as to how many winters I will get out of them. If they last more than two winters, I will write an update to my review. I wear them every day. This is the second pair of insoles I 've purchased with a remote. I have not been able to figure out how to pair either one of these models so I have never used the remote feature. Cant say that I miss it. I have a condition similar to Raynaud syndrome that leaves my extremities cold all the time. I 've tried wool, sherpa, cashmere all to no avail. When I came upon these I thought I would try them. I wear them as daily shoes and they have excellent traction in all the wet and slick spots that are pretty common this time of year. They ’ re very breathable shoes, so much so that my feet have been getting a little cold when wearing them outside in the frigid temps here in the midwest. That being said, the memory foam in insoles of the shoes make these super comfortable on my feet when I ’ m going for walks and little treks around the neighborhood. I 've had these Leikis for a month now and still love them. I wanted something for urban dog walks that would keep my feet dry in rain and puddles but with enough traction to handle light trails. Perfect for shoulder- season weather when it's wet but not yet cold enough for heavier boots. They 're lightweight and cushy. At the store, I compared these to the Versacore. The Leiki is more snug around the heel and arch, but the toe box is still roomy. The Leiki toe box also has more structure and kept its shape, while the Versacore would crease and press against the top of my toes with each step which I found annoying. I liked the lower heel height of the Versacore, but ended up going with the cushier Leiki which seemed to also have more structure for ankle stability.

My Keen canvas Howsers were getting a little worn so I decided to try a new, different pair. I liked the look and style of this shoe and as luck would have it they were on sale. I ordered my normal size 11. When they arrived they were just a tad too short. Keen makes it easy to return and I ordered a size 11. 5 and they arrived and fit perfect!! Note that these are a tight fitting shoe so getting them on takes a little effort but once they are on they are VERY comfortable. I like the material on these better than the canvas on the Howsers. Overall a very nice casual shoe!

[ I was on a quest to find a waterproof, cushioned hiking shoe for Torres del Paine “ O ” backpacking trek The final pairs were from Columbia and Hoka Speedgoat. The Peakfreak was my final choice as I found that the cushioning level matched that of Hoka, without the bulk. I completed the trek and was compelled to write this review as the Peakfreak surpassed my expectations. The trek was around 70 miles with unforgiving terrain. This shoe softened the impact on my low back and foot pads, yet was sturdy for the uneven trail. We hiked through snow, rivers, mud and my feet remained dry. The soles gripped every rock and slippery root. My Peakfreaks kept me upright while others were slipping and losing traction. Oh, and no blisters and no break- in necessary. The only recommendation is to order 1/2 size up. I ’ m a true 9 1/2 and my toes were a bit crammed. I bought a size 10 and it fit perfectly.
