You will have to help your child break this glove in and if you have never broken in a glove before than this will be a learning experience for you with patience. Do not buy this glove and expect it game ready within a short period. Use the warm water technique and follow it up with glove oil, mallet, and tons of catch before it is game ready( don ’ t steam it). Once broken in properly, the ball just floats into the pocket and closes itself.

I would n't be so quick to hate on this mitt for your kid. We have the A500 version of this glove, which be bought off Am* zon in October 2019. After a solid 2 seasons, spring and summer of splitting the catching duties, it was finally broken in. It is nicely constructed and mostly all leather( or leather- type) material. No fleece linings. Sturdy enough. Now that we are approaching spring 2022 and my kid will be 11, he can start the season with this. We are getting a backup to break in as only now the padding seems to be wearing thin and bigger kids throw harder.

This was my first Wilson glove as I grew up playing high school ball with a HOH. I primarily played infield and always rocked an 11. 5 ” glove. However, now as an adult I have been playing rec slow pitch softball. I went with this 12 ” glove to use as a hybrid between softball and coaching my son in baseball( throwing batting practice, warming up players.. etc.) The glove feels pretty stiff when you first get it but it ’s definitely softening up with regular catch.
