These are premier. While this is my first set I am impressed. I am 6'- 4 '' and was concerned with the height being what was needed. As I unpacked them and adjusted them out they did not come near maxing out in order to fit me. Also, the locks are secure I am not sure what it would take for them to slip. Buy thesae poles, you wo n't be excited.

We got these to replace a pair of decade old Komperdells that finally have started to fail on us. They are great- we have used them for winter hiking and snowshoeing up by Rocky Mountain National Park and they are light weight with easy to use and very functional locking mechanisms. Awesome product!

Recently purchased these trekking poles from Black Diamond and took them on my most recent backpacking trip. Hiked roughly 38 miles in two days and these trekking poles were fantastic. The cork handles are amazing and keep your hands from getting sticky and sweaty. The poles are lightweight and the straps are extremely comfortable. Highly recommend!

RIVER-RUNNER
Bought the 3K poles when first available many years ago for mountain hiking. Now a senior( still using same poles), but need for added stability and safety. These poles continue to exceed my needs. Excellent quality materials, top to tips. Cork and EVA GRIP designed correctly- longer length reduces n3ed to constantly adjust overall pole length. Real rubber tips increase traction for better safety. NOT a cheap clay/rubber compound that looks like rubber, but when cold or wet becomes slippery and not as stable. Needs can change over time. Still using my original poles. The added safety and stability become more important as the years add up. They were excellent years ago and continue to be so in Lightweight, strong, superb grips, tips and easy length adjustments in senior years. Superior design. Materials and construction. What more could be asked for? Enjoy the benefits of a good buying decision. product quality and added safety of superior design.

We hike several times a week and go ~10 miles each time. These poles are never not in my hands. They have saved me from serious injury on several occasions. I have neuropathy in my left leg/foot that causes drop foot. I took a fall going down a cliff and the poles caught on a tree and stopped my fall. I had broken ribs, wrist and thumb, but it would have been worse if I hadn ’ t had the poles. Amazingly, the pole was still working perfectly and I still use today! We decided to purchase an additional set for each of us a couple years ago, and interchange using the sets. Couples we hike with also have Cascade poles, which speaks highly on the quality of the product! We have decided to purchase 2 more sets so we can keep a set for each of us at our 2nd home. In total we will each have 3 sets of poles. Similar poles cost 3- 4 times more, so save your money! Don ’ t hesitate purchasing these trekking poles. You won ’ t regret your decision!

My wife and I have used these for years for hiking. Then two years ago she had a knee replaced and uses one Trekking pole for stability. She is a medical professional and keeps her Trekking pole by her side as she makes her rounds. She has become a poster child for your Trekking poles as many of her patients have asked where she purchased them. They all remark how light they are and how they are able to fold up. Best poles we have ever used. And yes we are still hiking! She now needs to order new “ gym shoe tips ” because she has worn down the tread!

I love these poles. Have had them for 4 years and have abused them from ski slopes to summits of Whitney, Izta, Orizaba& Toluca. I was suspicious of how they 'd hold up to serious abuse, but they 've held up beyond expectations.

I have a neurological condition and my balance is not good. This means that I literally use my poles every day, multiple times a day. I constantly push harder than I should probably should and I have never had these buckle, break or complain. my first pair is going on almost 3 years now. The only things showing wear is I have gone through a couple tips and the texture on the grips are almost smooth. They do need to be re- adjusted sometimes- not a big deal... easy. To do. I gave my 92 year old Mom( 5' 2 '') a set and one of my brothers( 6' 1 '') some. They are tough, strong, light and very adjustable. My only constructive criticism is that I wish the grip was a little bigger and the rubber tops can slip on smooth concrete floors.

I 'm very happy with this purchase. The only recommendation for improvement I can make is that the cork handles come unsealed. Since these are going to be used heavily in a wide range of weather conditions, from the hot Arizona sun, Monsoon rains, and even snow, I felt it essential to seal the cork to ensure the handles hold up to the use I plan on giving them. I recommend UV- 40 cork seal. I have used it on fly rod handles I have made and it works perfectly, and lasts many, many years. Make sure to follow the application instructions on the bottle. Apply one good coat using a bristle brush. Make sure you do n't have any drips, runs or sags. Do not apply a second coat, as it will not penetrate.

Just purchased these poles after reviewing my health issues. Being a diabetic for 57yrs I am developing some balance issues. Researching canes I discovered how anti- postural they are, plus clumsy. An elderly neighbor was seen walking with trekking poles. I thought that was a good idea. I purchased my set from a chain sporting good store and got some walking shoes as well. Studied how to properly fit and use trekking poles. The experience is natural when set up correctly. Walking gate and posture are enhanced and I look forward to many walking excursions. I live in the intermountain west which is perfect location to use this valuable tool.

So far so good with my new trekking poles. My first pair served me well for 3 years. I broke one this winter coming down from South Double Top in the Catskills. My new pair is an improvement. The cork handles are more generous in overall circumference which fit my hands better. The lock mechanism is a vast improvement over my first pair that incorporated a retractable collar which collapsed on me when i reach too far down on the pole when ascending a step climb. I` m very pleased with my new trekking poles. Kudos to Black Diamond for making such a great product. Happy Trails... Mick

Love these poles. Previously had the Alpine Carbon Cork. These feel very light but solid. Easily collapsable and has the best hand grips out there. The cork is so much better that the foam on some of there other models. I also like how the M/L grip is a bit larger which feels good in the hand. Ive heard some reviews that the locking pin sometimes collapses under pressure but mine have been fine. Skip the higher priced carbon flzs and get these! Also the color on the website looks more orangy/red but they are a true red in reality.

[ I have had a few sets of trekking poles over the years from Black Diamond, Cascade Mountain Tech and others. Leki compares favorably but I have only gotten to put about 20 miles on them so far. They vibrate/rattle less than inexpensive options such as CMT, and if you are frequent user of trekking poles they are probably worth the extra money. These particular poles are the lightest I have every personally used and the operation of them is very simplistic. Assuming they hold up to several hundred miles of punishment from me I will be pleased. If you are on a tight budget I ca n't say these are worth the extra money over some less expensive poles from Leki or Black Diamond.

[ Carbon fiber meets the great outdoors! Ultra lightweight, incredibly easy to assemble/disassemble. Straps are slinky soft and super comfy. Half the thickness of the straps on my 20 year old LEKI poles. Chose this strap model over those half glove things cuz who needs two parts to hiking poles?? And something you can easily lose AND they looked sweaty& uncomfortable! These poles adjust/telescope length with one simple control. These poles are the very definition of ease of use and the lightest possible weight. So good my g/f bought a pair too!

I have n't used other poles before so I do n't know how this compares to others, but I 'm happy with it and hope to keep using it for a while. [ I have a ultralight tent that uses trekkin poles but I do n't always want to use them. These poles are easily adjustable with a very good range, study yet very light and I feel they put less wear on the pockets than the trekking poles. In any event I prefer having my hands free to carrying my poles in many situations and my dog does too. I have n't used them for my sil- tarp yet but I do n't see why they would n't work just as well.

[ When I first bought these, I 'd intended to use them with a basha shelter. But, the basha does n't do that well of a job keeping the wind out! So, I found a guy named `` Papa Hiker, '' and pitched several of his enclosed tarp shelters! I found a modified version of his Hex Tarp pitch, and those poles fit the bill perfectly! The shelter calls for a 125 cm trekking pole, but it just does n't collapse for easy storage; these poles do! I have no problems crawling into the tarp, and with another tarp on the ground underneath, I 'm dry! Ventilation is my only problem... other than that, these poles are great!

[ I purchased a Big Agnes tent that used trekking poles rather that having tent poles. I purchased these tarp poles so I could use the tent on bike trips. They seem to work in a home test. I only gave them four stars due to my lack of field testing over repeated trips. They do seem well made and durable. The lengths are well marked( in metric numbers). I typically like to travel light, so I am pleased that this minimalist 2- person tent weighs less four pounds.

When I first opened the packaging of the Peak Design travel Tripod, I thought there was some heft to this thing made of carbon fibre and aluminum, it felt solid and heavy for its size, but not overly heavy. This is a nice compact and well- made tripod, for photographers like myself who like to hike and carry a minimal amount of camera gear. The Peak Design Travel tripod can fit inside a normal- sized backpack or strapped onto the side, the zippered case it comes in is well- made and can come in handy for additional carrying options. During use, I have found it to be very sturdy and can hold a surprising amount of weight with some of my biggest cameras. I have even tried using the tripod with my 4x5 view camera including a lens that weighs up to 2. 7 kg( 6 lbs). Mostly though I will be using this tripod with smaller digital and smaller film cameras. During use, I found that the legs are easy to set up and stay locked in place. The ball head works as it should and is uniquely designed to fit into the top part of the tripod and hidden away when the tripod is compacted and closed up. One thing I would point out is when using the Peak Design ball head in the vertical or portrait position there is limited movement because two of the three `` clamps '' on the bottom of the head come in contact with the centre post. There are a few solutions that users can try, one is to use an Arca- style `` L '' bracket, the second is to use a folding Arca- Style `` L '' bracket and the third is to use a panoramic attachment with a built- in Arca- style plate, I got one that only weights 55 grams( 2 oz), and with the panoramic attachment it makes it much easier to make adjustments to the top and bottom part of a picture in portrait configuration also in horizontal mode if one wants to swing the camera left or right. All in all a well- made tripod that I will be using for a large portion of my photographic work.
