The `` Boa system '' is really cool. Instead of leather or cotton laces, it's a wire system that tightens up to your comfort when you twist the button on the front. When you want `` out '' you pull the button out and the tongue loosens right up. Very convenient. I would recommend this boot for mostly active activities. The color is neutral and these fit true to size. If you wear thick socks, size up a half size. Otherwise your normal size will work. They have great traction so I don ’ t anticipate busting but butt in the snow. These are built to last so I ’ ll have them for all inclement weather for years.

Our temp here in the PNW doesn ’ t get too low( lowest around 20 degrees), so I can ’ t vouch for how it would do in the single digits. They fit true to size. I imagine like most Sorel boots these would wear well but I found the soles were really stiff and the boots were slightly wide for my feet, so I returned them. Because I never wore them in wet weather I 'm not sure how waterproof they actually are but the sole and lower portion of the boot seems well insulated for precipitation.

[ I am normally a size 6 but tried the 7 since that ’s what was available. I figured I am wearing heavier socks in the winter. The fit is good, even with thinner socks. There is room so it doesn ’ t feel too big or too small. All of that fur will definitely keep my feet warm in the winter. It hits about mid calf for me, which I like. I had a pair of Muckmaster boots and they lasted for 4 winters of daily dog walks, maintaining their waterproof quality even after the sole of one boot started to come away. My wife bought me a pair of these Arctic Sport boots and apart from the logo at first sight they appear( and fit) identical to the Muckmasters. The extra thermal protection does not change the fit. Construction quality appears to be very good with the same excellent materials. Hoping for some snow now to really test them out!

I live in northern Alaska and the temps continue to drop but they ’ re still super warm and even warmer with the Columbia socks I bought. I usually wear size 9 but got 9 1/2 just cause my feet will start to swell and to be able to wear with thick socks and they fit perfectly.
