This is a solid and well- crafted knife, comparable in quality to knives costing many times more. As a former Army medic I can appreciate the rescue features as well. The blade is razor sharp and I have n't yet had the need to sharpen. It took a little practice but I can now easily and smoothly open with one hand, left or right. I am so impressed with this knife I just ordered the 2. 0 version to keep in one of my cars. Only caveat, I 've seen some demos showing how the safety belt cutter is n't very effective. That may, in fact, be true, but the serrated edge of the razor- sharp blade is more than up to the task. This is only a good knife for crossing border into Canada which I do a lot of and where many knives are banned and where no knife can be carried for the primary intent of self- defense. The rescue and safety features of this knife help legitimize it.

I was gifted the pledge the christmas 2024. Being a creature of habit, I have always carried a case yellow handle trapper, I put the gerber in my night stand drawer. About four or weeks later I was headed out to spread bedding and fodder to the chickens and decided to take the pledge alongdue to the fact it opened easily with one hand. I still carry my yellow handle, but i also carry the gerber clipped to the inside front pocket of my blue jeans. The gerber doès all the work because it deploys with one hand, its sharp as a razer, and its tough; besides if I break it gerber warrenty has my back. If you are looking for a self- defense knife, skip this knife and skip this review, because that ’s not what I bought it for. Anyway, nobody wins in a knife fight. 2. If you are looking for a superlative hunting knife, skip this knife and this review. The tip is not optimized for piercing, but it is not rounded enough to keep from tearing up a hide while skinning an animal. 3. If you are looking for a tactical knife with a black blade and serrated edges at the base, skip this knife and get one of the many made- in- China models that appeal to the macho image. 4.
