We each take turns holding it for the other person to punch and kick. It has a lot of give and the handles are placed strategically so it is easy to hold. Very happy with this purchase. There is also a zipper at the bottom if you ever need to replace the foam inside. It is a bit expensive for what you get, but we use it often.
