Have used similar sinkers for years. Actively searched many bait& tackle stores as well as Dick ’s, Sports Authority etc. for these without success. Found some with fins, but not 3& 4 ounces. I use these for cut bait fishing from shore. They pick- up less weeds. I was really surprised that Eagle Claw is making the product and that Dick ’s is selling them. Great product for casting from shore. Completely satisfied!

Frequently Asked Questions For Fishing Weights For Trolling

Fishing weights for trolling are specialized weights designed to help anglers achieve the desired depth while trolling for fish. They work by adding weight to the fishing line, allowing lures or bait to sink to specific depths where fish are more likely to be found. This technique is particularly effective in open water, where fish may be suspended at various depths.

The best types of fishing weights for trolling vary based on the specific conditions and target species. Common options include downrigger weights, snap weights, and trolling sinkers, each designed to perform well in different water conditions and depths. Choosing the right weight depends on factors such as water depth, current strength, and the type of lure being used.

Choosing the right weight for your trolling setup involves considering the depth of water you will be fishing in, the speed of your boat, and the type of bait or lure you plan to use. Heavier weights are typically used in deeper waters or strong currents, while lighter weights may be sufficient in shallower areas. It's important to balance the weight with your fishing line and rod capabilities for optimal performance.

Yes, fishing weights for trolling can be used in both freshwater and saltwater environments. However, it's essential to select weights that are suitable for the specific conditions of each environment, as saltwater can be more corrosive and may require different materials or finishes. Always ensure that the weights you choose are compatible with the type of fishing you are doing.

Fishing weights for trolling are commonly made from materials such as lead, steel, and tungsten. Each material has its own advantages; for example, lead is dense and provides a compact weight, while steel is more environmentally friendly and can be more durable. The choice of material can affect the weight's performance, durability, and how it interacts with the water.
