[ Still getting used to it, like the many pockets and compartments and the large main area which holds so much. The adjustable straps allow one to adjust the pack to their body. Great pack.

5 Josh S.
[ Love this pack. Very comfortable and lightweight. Perfect size and the full zip top makes things easily accessible.

5 Anna T.
[ Loved my Osprey Hikelite 32. I carried it on The Camino in Portugal and Spain. Perfect size and fit. I can ’ t say enough good things about it! The pockets, the rain cover, how easy it was to size. Love love love it.

[ Great bag, i lose my stuff because theres so may pockets love the hip pockets. Water proof bag is so amazing

5 Amy
I hiked across Spain for 500 miles over 35 days carrying this pack. I had NO issues and it was so comfortable. I carried about 13- 15 lbs with a water bladder. Only wish the water bladder nozzle had a cover as every time I set the pack down my nozzle touched the ground- good for my immune system! I just feel so grateful for my pack. One of your sales people on the phone recommended it after I tried several other models and sizes. Could n't be happier. One of the zippers broke before my trip but it was n't key. I will call regarding this. Otherwise- highly recommend this pack. So light, so comfy, so kind to my body after a long haul. Thank you.

Spent three months backpacking in Europe upon my retirement, at age 65, with this wonderful Osprey backpack! We traveled in all kinds of weather and used all modes of transportation! Also, have been backcountry camping in Canada, California, and Colorado! She still looks new after a busy 10 years on and off the trails! I am currently looking to downsize to a smaller Osprey backpack…walking the Camino in a few months! Only an Osprey works for me!!

5 Treehugger
[ I bought this not just for backpacking trips but I use it also for camping trips, overnight stays at hotels or airbnbs, and on the plane rather than rolling suitcases.

5 Jules
[ Perfect size for a comfortable fit while backpacking! The front zippers that open to the main compartment are a great feature and very helpful to stay organized!! recommend this pack highly!!!

I 've had this pack since 2006. It's been on many adventures with me, from backpacking in Canyonlands to training hikes in Teluride to travel through Taiwan. For several years, I used this bag for grocery shopping and going to the laundry mat, when it was often 70 pounds. It's so comfortable that even fully loaded, I can easily dance while wearing it. This pack has survived bear attacks, rain storms, deserts, baggage handlers, and having its capacity tested endlessly. After 15 years, I 've noticed the first sign of wear- a small tear in a seam. I 'm happy with the longevity of the product, and I 'm heartened that I can send it to Osprey for a professional- level repair for just the cost of one- way shipping. The All Mighty Guarantee is one reason I 'm so loyal to Osprey- they did a fantastic job repairing bear damage, and they quickly sent me a set of replacement buckles after I damaged one of mine. I love how comfortable the hip belt and harness are, partly thanks to the high degree of adjustability. If it every gets lost or stolen, I will happily buy the same bag. I barely notice my bag while I 'm hiking, meanwhile my hiking buddies complain about how uncomfortable their similarly priced non- Osprey packs are, or say how happy they are to get them off. I do n't mind how the weight gets divided on group trips, because I know my pack can handle adding on the tent, carrying more than my share of food, and having a few liters of extra water. If you 're looking for a comfortable bag that you can use in a range of circumstances for decades to come, look no further than the Osprey Ariel.

I love this bag! Its tight! Functional and nothing more. This style works! Its size is perfect for under the seat stow away as carry on- bought it as my city pack for Napal. City pack and river guiding. Great job MR. Look forward to more water proof packs.

5 Firefighter Frost
Light weight but super durable. Great for in the boat on fishing trips. I also use it for a ice chest, not labeled for it but it works great to fill with ice and cold drinks.

5 Mitchythefish
Incredibly durable perfect everyday pack!! Highly recommend!

5 Sean
Bought for motorcycle riding in wet weather. Works great, kept my laptop and clothes dry through rain showers. Would definitely buy again!

Well, overall, I am pretty happy with this pack. It does have some flaws. I took it on several flights, including a Hawaii dive trip, which went fantastic. It ’s also been on multiple flyfishing trips on the river and at least two white water rafting trips. In a few months, I ’ ve had it function extremely well. However, the only big drawback I see with this is the zipper. Holding the pack itself to pull the zipper open is challenging and there should be some kind of tab or loop to hold onto on either side of the zipper. Additionally, when closing the pack, if you hold too close to the zipper and pinch around the zipper in order to hold it for closing, it sometimes wants to disengage. Overall, these are workable problems, and hopefully version two will correct them. Still a great pack.

[ I haven ’ t used it on a hike yet, but I must say I really like this pack. It seems to be toe perfect size for what I need. I did add some shock cord with cord locks to the top and front daisy chain loops. Just to add some quick storage if needed. It is very comfortable once adjusted to my torso size. I hope to get out on a wi get hike with it soon!

5 Clark P.
[ My new Kestrel 38 is a replacement for my old Kestrel 38, which I thoroughly wore out, trekking through the Himalayas, Andes, Pyrenees and here at home in the North Cascades. The pack fits perfectly and carries comfortably, not to mention how good looking it is.

5
I originally bought this pack to walk the Camino de Santiago France, 500 miles. But, it was too tall to use as a carry on bag on the airline. I did train with it and walked a lot of miles through mountains, etc.. Very comfortable and well designed. Everything functions well.

5 Mef
I ’ ve taken this backpack to two different 30 day trips. And I have been through every single situation, terrain( minus snow), 10+ flights( a few made made check in bag) camped, hiked, walked through beaches, visited hostels. Hours in airports and this backpack is A beast. I stuff the heck out of this bag. It packs like a 50L. The top most pocket is so big. Can fit a toiletry bag and more. Still looks new, quality is superb. Passport fits perfectly in hip pockets and snacks and earbud case. Very light and comfortable. My bag was roughly 25- 40 pounds at all times. Perfect for long trips( 10+ days)

5 Walter L.
[ Great pack. Solid construction. I love that my back does t hardly sweat like it does with other packs due to the construction of the back materials. I ’ m impressed with Osprey quality. This is my first pack from this company and it looks to be the best quality materials and feels solid. I think this pack will last me a long time on many different adventures.

[ Bought this pack this summer for an overnight in the White Mountains. Fits super well and the pockets made getting at my stuff easy. Weight distribution excellent. Highly recommend!

5 CBAB87
[ Very comfortable, well padded pack. We bought the extra small and it ’s a perfect fit. Spacious pack, plenty of room for all your backpacking gear!

5 Denise
[ I have only taken this out once to prepare for a longer trip. We hiked 6 miles. I had it packed with at least 20 lbs. It was WONDERFUL!!! Compared to the one I already own, this pack was so much more comfortable and light. It also has several nice pockets. I am excited to use it more!

5 Rachieb
[ Bought this bag before a 3 night backpacking trip with my husband. He has a bigger bag so could hold more than I could, but I found it to be the PERFECT size for a 3- night trip, assuming someone else is with you carrying the tent& other larger supplies. This held half of our food, my clothes, sandals, 2 water bottles, my camping mug, and other misc. emergency supplies( first aid kit, emergency blanket).

5 kott25
[ I bought this pack about a month ago and it is quality made. Love all the features it comes with. It is very comfortable and sits well on my hips. I would definitely recommend it.

[ I could n't be happier! My new Deuter Future Air Trek works so well! I love how comfortable if feels on my body. I had a lot of weight in my backpack, but you could n't even tell! It is PERFECT for long treks. You guys should get one!

5 Mrsmommi
[ This backpack is great! It holds the weight evenly and while I was only out for a few hours I had no issues with it at all. It is very comfortable and the elastic spring steel really helped with keeping the sweat on my back to a minimum. There are so many pockets, and it comes with a tarp to cover the backpack if it rains. The straps are all super adjustable which makes it even more comfortable. I really appreciated the cushions on the lower hip straps, they helped immensely. Great backpack, super comfortable, and lots of storage and loops to hang things

5 pcocke12
[ I bought this earlier this month for a camping trip. I was able to pack a week's worth of clothing in addition to water and some dehydrated food. Not only was it able to carry everything I needed, it was so comfortable! I hiked 8 miles a day and almost forgot I was wearing the backpack at times.

5 Jsax
[ We used this backp this weekend. We are avid hikers throughout our national parks. We are always looking for a lightweight yet versatile pack to take with us. This one was comfortable with the waist straps as well as firm backing. There are lots of spaces to pack essentials

5 StormChaser
[ Great item as expected! Good craftsmenship and relatively light weight! There are many loops on the outside for more luggage attachments! The large compartment can be opened from the outside in several places. So you do n't have to empty everything out to get to items at the very bottom! Great feature! The shoulder straps are super flexible. Reminds me of a ruck sack but a much more compact version that the Army offers! Value for money is ok!

I adore this pack. My mom bought the Ariel 85L for me a few years ago( 2021) for my first guiding job, and it has been my companion ever since. The pockets make it easy for me to stay organized and access a variety of gear while on the trail, and the brain turns into a little day pack. The only negative on the day pack feature is that the straps secure with plastic toggles through loops rather than buckles, so they come out when you are n't wearing the pack. This pack is super durable. I have sat on it, accidently thrown it in a beaver pond, checked it at the airport, and much more, and it has n't ripped or shown much wear yet( knock on wood of course). The water bottle pockets have a holster feature, so you can access your bottles without help and fit notebooks, maps, or fuel bottles in the top part of the pocket. I am a notorious over packer, and I can always fit everything I need and still hike comfortably with this pack. If you like ultra light this might not be your pack, but if you want to hike for a long time while staying organized and comfortable this is a great pack.

5 mariam7726
[ I bought this about a month ago and have done two backpacking trips, it is one of the best backpacks I 've owned so far. Osprey really has outdone themselves, especially with the front opening compartment. Easy access for everything and fits so many things in it as well. Easy to clean and the straps do n't hurt as bad as other brands.

5 BebeBeth
[ The Ariel Plus 85 backpack was a game changer for me. I 'm not a `` professional '' backpacker, so packing everything but the `` kitchen sink '' was a desire. Although I wound up not packing that too, I did manage to get everything I needed, and more, into this pack for a 3 night solo trip. An ultralight tent and a 4. 7 '' high sleeping pad were carried on the outside of the pack, while my mummy- style sleeping bag was in the sleeping bag compartment at the bottom of the bag. Other necessary items took up the rest of the space, with room to spare. Not only was there plenty of room in this bag, but it was incredibly comfortable. I 'm humpbacked, so not many backpacks are comfortable for me. With the adjustable torso feature, I was able to get a truly dialed- in fit and was able to hike without discomfort.

5 Aura
Osprey really outdid themselves with this one, thinking of every little detail for organization and packing this pack. Additionally, the suspension is great and carrying over 40% of my body weight, I felt the weight, but not the pack! I like my comfort and I do not like to be cold and I carry food for my dogs, while they carry the water, therefore, I need all of this space. The only detail that osprey does on all of their packs is that sleeping bag divider is not fully removable, just `` '' disconnect- able '' '' so you still have to carry the divider around with you adding weight and it does get in my way. I have never used it since it prevents me from stuffing every solitary nook and cranny of the bag. Also, when the bag is stuffed, I have never been able to successfully open and then re- close the bottom zipper anyway. Same with the side zippers Osprey has on most of its packs. HOWEVER, they surely did get it right with the front zippers on this pack! You can open the entire front and then re- close it even when fully stuffed! Wonderful!!! Also, the side pockets, unlike other Osprey models, really can be used and things added and taken out even when the pack is fully stuffed. I love the front organization pockets and keep things that I need handy like GPS and maps, etc in one and repellent and netting, or if it is a cold, snowy backpack, gloves and hat, in the other.

5 Mflight51
Finally a large woman's specific pack! Thank you Osprey! I have been using men's or unisex packs my whole life until last year. What a difference specificity makes! This pack is so incredibly comfortable you do n't really know you have it on. I am certain I will be able to travel more distance without fatigue with this pack. Six pounds for the M/L may seem like a heavier pack, but the infrastructure and material is worth it. This pack will be my only pack for multi day trips! Thank you.

Absolutely love the day bag for backcountry camping!

5 Sophia G.
[ Have only taken this pack on one trek so far but it was great. Very comfortable and distributes weight nicely. I love how convient it is to access the inside of the pack with the front pouch. Only complaint is the water bottle pocket- it ’s very difficult to get a 1. 5 liter Nalgene in and out when the pack is full.

5 Erin
I did n't understand the significance of a female- specific pack until I got this one-- I had been using a 75L+ unisex/ male pack for 10+ years and it always felt just a little off. The first time putting this one on, fully loaded, for a 5 day backpacking trip, I realized what a game- changer it was. Originally I was concerned going down in size by 5L, but all the pockets and stash points make up for it. It packs much better than my previous pack and the weight is distributed better and sits on my hips more comfortably. Definitely recommend!

5 Jem J.
Just got this pack as a replacement for my very old and trusted Arial 75. Despite being a guy I got the women's as my last one was a women's and it fit me so well. I am 5' 7 '' '' and 155#. Super comfortable and easy to adjust. I have just used it so far for day backcountry skiing. It easily synched down to a small size and was narrow with no wobble for skiing in the trees. Lots of pockets, I especially like the double pockets in the lid for sorting small stuff.

[ Bought this a few weeks ago for a backpacking trip to Olympic National Park and it ’s been great so far! I ’ m a 5 ’ 9 ” woman with athletic/curvy build. Thoughtful compartments, detachable smaller pack, built in rain cover, and seems pretty lightweight to me. I love the green color of the pack and the neon green color of the rain cover. I used it for backcountry skiing the fit and how it proformed when skinning or skiing excellent. Its only top accessible, and a lack of easy acces pocket for avalanche equipment. Note I knew it was n't a dedicated ski pack wanted something larger then what was available. Was able to comfortably carry and ski with heavier loads. I enjoyed 50 days of skiing something like 35 of them were backcountry here in Alaska. Skiing adventures from Hatcher pass, with lots of local runs near Anchorage, and some trips to Turnagain pass.

4 Red Coat
[ I had a new Atmos 50L pack and started using it for winter hiking the NH 4K foot mts. It was too big for me as I had the wrong size and not great for winter hiking. The mutant works very well. I have hiked two mts with it so far, with full traction mounted to outside ~28lbs. Attaching snow shoes, crampons and micro spikes works well with all the external attachment straps. The shallow side pockets help hold my hiking poles when needed. The large top is easy to get into, a is the main compartment. I can easily put layers under the top to hold during a layer break. The pack is comfortable and handles very well with the 28lbs. I like the flat back, it is warmer than a mesh and doesn ’ t trap snow. My only complain is the shoulder straps are narrow and do not come down far, which limits what I can attach ti them. My snack bottle works but even in lowest loop is up high. And the loops are small. The front straps are a bit thin, but work fine for holding a crampon bag or even the snow shoes I was concerned that the lower padding on hips and waist would not be as comfortable as the atmos. But not so, I don ’ t even notice it, the the mutant is much easier to get into and out off.

[ I have enjoyed using the Mystery Ranch 45L Men ’s Bridger backpack, as well as the Scree, 25l RipRack, 22l In and Out, and accessories, which I ’ ve used on long hikes and travels, for a number of years.. They are all comfortable for me, and have durable, long- wearing fabrics, so I expect to continue to enjoy and use them for many years, as MR products are very thoughtfully and well- built.

5 Ak dad
[ I have several hiking bags, some much more expensive and some lighter and some bigger, the bridger 45 hits the sweet spot for day hikes with the family. Enough features to make access and packing easy and provides support and space for the extras needed while being a parent. The take off lid is nice and the comfort and load distribution is second to none.

4 Dann
[ Good pack. Suits my needs well. I like to do a lot of photography and have been dissatisfied with even photo packs meant to go long distances. I never felt the suspension was very good. This pack has a lot of storage/organization and the way it opens up, it makes getting to equipment easy. I use a removable camera storage unit( an ICU) which fits well and the pack carries much better than my other camera pack.

6/22: had the Sirrus 24 for years. liked it. Compression- fratured lumbar region early spring. Feared hiking days over. stubborn but realistic: Had to carry pack light and high. Wore same clothes daily, hat, pricey poles. Tied jacket around waist, saved pack space for tent, food, water, rain gear, navigation, first aid, sleeping bag n cooking gear. There was other stuff inside bag, but I forget. Was able to carry light even with food. This pack solved my weight fears: helped me keep all under weight, not stressing back. Wore a lot; usually kept inside pack. Used water bladder. Was able to muster the entire CT in 2022. Cons: not able to reach back and grasp water bottles, pockets on belt too small and plastic zippers ceased in cold. Otherwise; really liked.

5 PDXBP
[ Bought this a few weeks ago for a backpacking trip to Olympic National Park and it ’s been great so far! I ’ m a 5 ’ 9 ” woman with athletic/curvy build. Thoughtful compartments, detachable smaller pack, built in rain cover, and seems pretty lightweight to me. I love the green color of the pack and the neon green color of the rain cover. My other pack is a 45 Osprey from 4 years ago and this frame seems more supportive/better padded.

[ I have not used the aether pack yet. But I have adjusted it and checked it out. Looks great.

5 Mike C.
My torso is 17 '' so I purchased the S/M size expecting it to be on the shortest setting. I found I needed to have it just under the longest setting to fit me correctly with the middle of the hip belt on my iliac crest. I think you might be able to squeeze into this pack if your torso is 19 '' maximum. Easily the most comfortable pack I have tried on, very happy with my purchase.

5 Dean
[ Just returned from the BWCA with my Aether 65. This is a nice pack that worked well for a 4 day self supported journey deep in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota. Our trip included 5 portages with 3 having quite a bit of undulation. The pack was weighed down with 44lbs of gear and was comfortable( as much as 44lbs of gear can be, definitely dropping some weight on the next trip). I liked it because I typically start trips like this fresh and strong and have my pack set up to that posture with quick( on the fly) adjustments being made as I ’ m flagging from hiking and paddling for hours. Nice pack that is well thought out with all the features you need and none that are useless. Both of my sons were wearing the same pack with zero complaints. Nice product that ’s worth the investment.

5 OlderGuy63
[ I just bought it and packed my winter gear in it. I weighed out at 51 lbs. It's so comfortable and fits great. I 'll be taking it out next week and ca n't wait.

5 KWas
Pack arrived in perfect new condition and the price was better than anywhere else. No break in of any kind required and my first trip with it was a 4day/3night 45mi trip. I had no complaints on fit and comfort. The fit on the fly adjustments, specifically the torso adjustment, were awesome. So easy to fine tune during that trip. My buddies also bought the same packs for the trip and also gave it high praises. Ca n't recommend this one enough

[ By far the best pack I ’ ve purchased! We ’ ll designed, very comfortable to take long hikes with and durable as well. I was able to fit everything I needed plus more for my winter backpacking trips. It was a grate gift idea too!

5 Captn Obvious
[ I have purchased 2 of these packs, one for me and one for my son. We go camping monthly with our local BSA troop and use them to carry all our gear for each campout. They will also be used for various other camping trips as they are quite adaptable for various needs and capacities. Plenty of storage, plenty of thought was put into the design and the quality is amazing. Their warranty is pretty amazing as well.

5
I 've had this pack for 4+ years now. I take it on a couple backpacking trips a year on average and some day hikes where I 'm carrying more than normal. It's always fit everything I need. I 've carried a large tandem packraft and paddles with it( alpacka forager). I 've hiked 30 miles of the Kesugi Ridge Trail with it. The most notable use I think was for a caribou hunt I did a couple years ago on the Denali Highway. I packed out a cow caribou including all meat and 4 quarters bone in and the hide with my other knives and day pack type gear 5 miles down a mountain side and back to the parking lot via the trail. Roughly 100lbs. No buckles broke or came undone under tension, no rips, straps worked well to keep the load secure and close to my body. It only creaked and groaned a bit under that load, but otherwise performed well especially for not being a hunting pack. I would buy again!

5 Antrim
66 yr old short woman, and I love the ease of this pack and the great comfort of the carry. I like a bear vault, and no trouble packing it in this. Makes it easy to deal with winter layers and days of food. All my gear is ultralight except this pack, and I do n't mind the weight when it comes with comfort and stability.

5 Darry
[ Bought this backpack on a sale, but the full price alone is worth it. This pack fits to your body so you do n't have to use any of your lesser used muscles to balance it. It fits on the fly& compartments are well designed for quick easy storage. This is the Cadillac& Ferrari of backpacks!!!

[ I bought this for my trip to NZ in January until April. I ’ ve just started packing and practiced carrying it. It ’s perfect for what I need it for- and it ’ ll be great for trekking since it ’s very light.

5 SER257
[ I purchased this after having a bad experience with a different pack of a different brand. I am 5 ’ 5 ” and weigh about 116 pounds. I am a bit short waisted too and I thought the pack fit my frame perfectly. No weird rubbing on my lower back after a 31 mile backpacking trip. Lots of space and convenient pockets. Super functional and can ’ t recommend enough!

5 KDKL
I love osprey products and unfortunately found that most of their products do not fit XS torsos. However. The EJA is the exception. It fits through the shoulders and leaves plenty of room for tightening the hip belt. It ’s like wearing a hug. I did 3 10+mile days with this pack( 48l) and it was just the right size for my and my dog ’s needs. The ONLY complaint I have is that the shoulder padding could use reinforcements. I found the material shredding my shirt and leaving friction burns on my collarbones after day 2. I ended up shoving my extra sun shirt under the straps to widen the coverage on my shoulders. I could probably wear thicker shirts for winter trips, but summertime screams for tank tops and breathable materials that just didn ’ t do enough for comfort on that long of a trip. I will be using this pack again, but definitely looking into mods for the shoulder strap padding

5 Loladé
[ This pack meets almost all my expectations and hopes! I love the suspension system the most. My pack feels like a hug! I appreciate the choice of removing the “ brain ” to save weight. The hip belt is comfortable. My only issue is with the shoulder straps. Over many hours on the trail, I notice that the straps do not sit completely comfortably around the front of my shoulders. That said, this is still my favorite pack out there!

4 Breezy
[ I like this pack a lot- out of the packaging I feel like it was really stiff and side pockets were almost unusable but after a week of using could easily get water bottles in and out without taking pack off. Hip belt pockets are a nice size but definitely a design flaw with the zipper and they are a pain to open and close. Overall super comfy pack and durable.

I have enjoyed using this pack for a couple proper backpacking trips and used it for city traveling. Plenty of storage, loads of adjustments for your comfort, nice design and materials and finally multiple ways to load the pack make this a great choice.

5 Josh T.
My girlfriend ordered the extended fit for me not because I 'm morbidly obese but because my shoulders are 3x the size of the normal person. I have a bodybuilder frame and she decided to give it a go. Just wow fits my shoulders perfectly with a lot of extra room if I decide to go on a McDonald's and deep fried Twinkie diet. I always get the heaviest bag because my girlfriend ca n't handle more than 25lbs. My bag was around 60lbs on a 3 day hike. Comfort all day and room to spare!

[ Loved it from the original purchase. Large, light and comfortable.

I bought an Exos 48 to downsize and reduce from my Aether 65. I ’ ve been on two 7 day treks and it ’s worked out perfectly for less than 30 lbs loads even with a bear vault. I ’ m 71 and trying to extend my backpacking days with lighter loads. This pack is versatile as well. I intend to use it for 15ish lbs load on an Alta Via 1 hut- to- hut hike on over 11 days in Italy this fall. Highly recommend.

5 Mich L.
[ I ’ ve taken it on a 4 day 3 night hiking trip to Mt Rogers in Virginia, and I can truthfully say the pack did everything as advertised.. Thanks

5 AZ J.
I have the Exos from like 7 years ago, I think 2 or 3 models ago. The ones that came out after my version had a mix of materials for the side and front stretch pockets. Mine is all stretch mesh which I prefer. I also have the hip belt pockets but I think they are smaller than the pockets on this new version. I am very happy with my Exos and love the vented back panel and having the option to remove the brain/lid to make it a smaller bag when needed. I have even used it as a day bag when the brain is removed. If you are on the fence between this 48L and the 38L, look at the dimensions, this one is only an inch wider. I am sure there are improvements on this new model but I am really happy with my old version. If you are n't someone that counts every ounce possible, this is a great pack. It is in a good price range for all you get with this bag. It is lighter than most packs in it's size range, has a lot of external storage pockets, internal frame, and has the best ventilated back panel I have used.

5 Sid Squid

Spent three months backpacking in Europe upon my retirement, at age 65, with this wonderful Osprey backpack! We traveled in all kinds of weather and used all modes of transportation! Also, have been backcountry camping in Canada, California, and Colorado! She still looks new after a busy 10 years on and off the trails! I am currently looking to downsize to a smaller Osprey backpack…walking the Camino in a few months! Only an Osprey works for me!!

Bought this pack for a short backpacking trip on the Napali Coast. I have lower back pain so I needed a pack that distributed the weight very well. My pack was about 30- 35lbs and I made it the entire trip without any pain or even soreness in my low back. It was quite incredible considering the many elevation changes- I 'm definitely impressed. I will say that toward the end on our hike out my shoulders began to cramp up so I had to do some adjusting to the straps but I think it's just I did n't have it set right. I really really love this pack and it's worth the investment!

5 Mjd1075
[ Our first packaging trip, and it was perfect! I tried on a few different packs, and this one was by far the most comfortable. I also really like how the top comes off to make for a day pack. This is my second Osprey pack and I highly recommended these to any outdoor enthusiasts

5 Tim E.
[ Osprey is awesome. They stand behind their warranty. I had an Aether 70 that had zipper and buckle issues, with some major wear on the straps securing the hip belt. I sent it in; they looked at it, and declared it not worthy of repairing. They sent me an updated model of the backpack I love and recycled parts from my old backpack. What an awesome company!!!

5 Michael T.
[ The stock photo does the color no justice. Absolutely beautiful green in person. High quality all around. Lots of features. Very comfortable to wear, the extendable hip belt is a game changer for me. My last back had very little cushion and didn ’ t come forward far enough for the hips, and this is the opposite. Plenty of adjustment length to fit just about everyone. Very simple to adjust the pack fit to make it work for your body. Plenty of zippers and pockets to keep various things organized Have only taken a short hike with this one so far, but with a 40 pound load it felt great. My last pack had the AG system and it was great, but this feels even better. Still able to ventilate the back area. Looking forward to my trips this year, especially now that I have this.

5 Flyingsparky
I bought this as a substitute to a rolling carryon on airplanes because I fly a lot. This is an EXCELLENT bag! It fits a lot inside if you pack it properly, and I fly with two laptops tucked inside the sleeve. Makes for speedy deplaning and an easy time trekking across large airports to make my transfer flights! It tucks under the seat in front of me so I don ’ t have to fumble with overhead storage, and the gear straps are convenient for clipping a jacket to when I ’ m travelling from somewhere cold to somewhere warm.

5 Matt V
[ I purchased this for carrying my laptop and other items on short overnight travel. It fits perfectly under an airline seat( the Abisko Hike 35 was a bit too big to fit under the seat). Overall quality is very good, and I love the two external water bottles holders. The material is very durable.

5 Northern BC Traveller
I bought this as a replacement for my carry on suitcase for flying. I was able to carry twice the weight my husband was because the weight distribution was so good. The zippers are durable, so I could pack a lot of stuff without being too worried. I also was able to use the detachable day- pack for days in the city. I 'm an XS/S in this pack, and I brought it as a carry- on on two large airlines, which was an added bonus.

Last year I joined climbing club but I didn ’ t have backpack. Therefore, I borrowed the pack from the club. It wasn ’ t suitable... I started to find a nice one in many stores. However, the size of packs in stores were too big. With my dad ’s help I bought this backpack on the Internet!!! I finally have it now!!!! Though I can ’ t go climbing recently since COVID- 19, I ’ m still looking forward to try it in the future!!

Lots of space and very comfortable for several days of hiking.

Used this pack for a 14 day hike. It was comfortable and kept my back dry. Good value for money.

I really love this pack. It's the second one I 've used as I 've only been backpacking for about 2 years. It is the perfect size to accommodate all of the things I need, but it's not so large that I over- pack. I 've used it on weekend trips on the PCT, a 5- day trip in the Sierras and on a 4- day Rim- to- Rim Grand Canyon hike. I could fit a small Bear Cannister in the pack and my tent was on the outside of the pack for the 5- day trip. I am more of a minimalist when it comes to what I put in my pack, so some people might need a larger pack for longer hikes. Sometimes the chest strap feels too high, so I would like a lower option for that, but I am 5' 4 '' '', so that might not be a problem for someone who is taller. I 've used the bladder reservoir as well and it works great. I have n't used it in the rain yet, but I do n't forsee any problems. When the pack is heavier( 30 lbs), I do feel soreness on my hips, but when I can keep it lighter( last trip 24 lbs) I have no soreness from using this pack. I also like that there are n't a lot of compartments so I 'm only looking in a few places if I do n't remember where I put something.

[ This was an excellent purchase! I was measured at a 17 inches and this pack fit perfect and very comfortably. Have not used it for many miles so I ca n't speak to that however has been great for hiking into camp.

Used this pack for the 6 day West Coast Trail hike and it performed well. I easily packed a tent, sleeping bag, 6 days of food and all other necessary gear into this pack.

[ I a big fan of how the pack fit and carries a load. And, the folks at Osprey have been very responsive and supportive.

5 Zach R.
Used this pack to complete 120 miles and 38K vertical feet for the Annapurna Circuit high altitude trek through the Himalayas. It was my amazing constant companion. Living out of a backpack for multiple weeks will bring out the best and the worst and I can ’ t find a single complaint with the pack. I could nitpick a bit, sure, but I ’ ve never had a pack come even close to this one in thoughtful details, overall design, customized fit, and the big one- comfort! You ’ re never going to forget the weight is there, but this pack was so comfortable that during breaks I often just left it on. Wouldn ’ t consider going with another brand now. The lid doubling as a( actually robust) daypack was key! My friends were jealous of that feature. Amazing backpack and the Osprey system is just so top notch! Thanks, Osprey!!

[ For the average backpacker, the Aether Plus 60 is the epitome of backpacks. I think Osprey has really come up with a pack that does it all. This pack is not only a combination of the best features found in their other great packs, but an evolution of new innovative features, making this one hard to beat. My favorite features on the Aether Plus( also found on some other Osprey packs) are the removable lid that converts to a day pack, the Stow on the Go trekking pole holder system and the stretchable “ stuff pouch ” at the front of the pack. But specific to the Aether Plus, the complete access to the interior of the pack from the front and the additional two front vertical pockets make this pack extremely convenient. The straps on the side of the Aether Plus are contrasted in color compared to the nearby straps from the hood to make it easy for your eye to pick up the “ correct ” strap when securing everything. I don ’ t know why Osprey decided to switch the color scheme of the straps( light and dark) on this pack as compared to the Xenith, but the idea is the same; it makes it easy to discern what ’s what. These features married to the stable, yet comfortable and beautifully designed, adjustable nature of the suspension system, make it a pleasure to use on the trail. It even comes with its own rain cover in its own little bonus pouch! I love that pouch for its ability to also stow an ID wallet or next section ’s map, thin gloves, or other small items you may not use on a regular basis. There's lots of ways to strap an item to the outside of the pack if need be and the design of the shoulder straps make it easy to attach a shoulder pouch or a Go Pro type of camera, and of course, secure the hydration tube. The Axo Green color just looks like it belongs in the forest and the 60L size is perfect for most of my three season trips. There ’s no reason for me to look elsewhere. Certainly, if you need the room for colder temps, long excursions, or the need to pack a portion of someone else ’s gear, the Aether Plus has you covered with the 70, 85 and 100 L versions. Will this pack evolve? Of course. Just like everything. But you know how we ’ re always saying, “ they always discontinue the good stuff ”? I ’ m confident I won ’ t have to say that about my backpack, now that I have the Osprey Aether Plus 60.

So surprised there are no reviews on this exceptional pack. Bought this after doing a 32 mile trip using a new Patagonia Nine Trails 36 liter pack. My shoulders and hips were so sore I had to find something else that carried 32lbs better. On first 4 day trip I grew to appreciate the thought that went in to its design. The answer for my needs was the Aether Plus 60. After using something else first, ca n't stress enough how well this pack carries the same load. The beefy cushy shoulder straps and hip belt carry loads extremely well! Love how the top lid turns in to a great day pack and holds a 3 liter reservoir. The 2 extra pockets( Plus model) behind the shove- it pocket are perfect for an ultralight chair on one side and rain gear on the other so do n't have to take up room in main compartment or cram under the side compression straps. The large zipper pulls on all pockets are a great touch and much easier to open than anything else ever used. I absolutely love the easily detached DayLid! The 2 pockets on it keep you organized- can even turn the DayLid storage in to a 3rd pocket to cram more gear in if needed for more organization. The main compartment slider pull is a very clever design that lets user easily open it without any trouble. There are so many options for attaching bulky gear or putting stuff where you want that I still have n't fully explored yet after 1 trip. The lined hip belt pockets are well designed and provide ample room for headlamps, snacks on one side and use the other side as a storage compartment for a HydraPak Hydrant squeeze bulb. This pack is perfect for my needs and really do n't know how it could ever be any better or improved any further by Osprey. Yes it is expensive but for the quality you are getting, do n't know how one could do any better.

5 BBndy
[ Very solid pack that I would definitely recommend to others. The day pack feature is probably the least useful so far since it seems to interfere with the amount of usable space in the upper pack... but maybe it 'll come in handy at some point!

[ I bought this backpack several months ago and it has become my hiking necessity. With so many pockets and compartments, I can easily hold everything I need without getting extra tired from too much weight as the backpack has the perfect amount of padding. I took my pack on a rockclimbing trip. It easily held everything I needed.

5 Swill77
[ So comfortable to wear and excellent padded back for comfort. Plenty of pockets and straps for gear! Top pocket easy to get into and side zip for super quick access to inside gear.

5 Mountains Always
[ I have n't had the chance to use this bag yet; waiting for the weather to warm up. The bag itself is great, big enough to house all my stuff but still compact so it does n't feel too bulky. I love that there's a side zipper to pull out my sleeping bag without everything else following with it. Great brand and great material.

This is a great backpack for the price. I am giving it 5 stars because it's everything you would want and need in a pack. The middle zipper opening is an amazing feature that allows you to get into your items without having to pull everything out from the top like a conventional pack. One downside are the hip straps. I feel they could be slightly larger for the size of pack, I had some discomfort but nothing terribly bad, likely had more to do with me being out of shape as well. I recommended this to a buddy and he has one and uses it quite often like myself.

5 kweenofhearts
[ This is the perfect bag! It ’s large and has so many different pockets so you can get to anything and everything you have stored in it! It has an attached wet bag as well as a raincoat for your backpack!

5 sanahk2
[ This Ampex 65L transcend backpack is quite impressive. It checks all high- end features like- waterproof material, little pockets for essentials is awesome. It provides really decent support for the frame on the back and the rest on the hips, rather than on upper back and shoulders. Lastly as it is 65L- it can pack everything needed for international or a multi- day hike comfortably.

5 Nora
I got this backpack to prepare for my 3 month trip in the Caribbean and it ’s has been so helpful to say the least. I have an overpacking problem but all of the different compartments and pockets made it so I could fit everything I needed. The support on the backside of it helps so much with my back pain and doesn ’ t make me feel exhausted at the end of a busy travel day. Furthermore, the top bit comes off as a smaller backpack which was perfect for day trips. The only thing i would change would be the smaller buckles that attach the front pocket to the bag, they were a little weak. However, I don ’ t have any worry they will come undone when I check it at the airport. Overall, this bag has been a HUGE help!! It definitely has made my traveling much easier.

4 emilyc1039
[ The 65L Ampex Hiking Backpack as a whole is lightweight, comfortable, and breathable. Overall, it has plenty of smaller exterior pockets that are accessible within an arms reach when needed. The waist belt pockets are a pleasant feature that I ’ ve never experienced on a hiking ruck before, which add to the accessibility of its pockets given that the pack doesn ’ t need to be removed to reach them. The padded shoulder straps are comfortable and have plenty of lashing points which are great for attaching lights or other tools. The waist belt serves well to distribute weight and secure the pack, and the pack seemed to be highly adjustable but I didn ’ t need to play with it much. The top of the pack has a quick access pouch for essentials that serves well to store smaller items without having to access the main compartment. The main compartment has plenty of space being a larger sized ruck, and has one divider that appears removable towards the bottom if it was to be needed. The top compartment of the pack is removable as advertised and can be used on its own, however it leaves the ruck feeling somewhat naked with just an exposed drawstring closure underneath. The removed “ pack ” achieved by taking it off would not serve well for a day pack as the straps just buckle into themselves to form shoulder straps. This in and of itself feels like an unnecessary feature. The main compartment has access by way of the drawstring at the top, or zippers located on the front which are great for horizontal access without unpacking the entire ruck to access deeper items. At the bottom of the pack there is an included rainfly that tucks away nicely in its own pocket. There are lashing points located on the bottom of the pack that held a sleeping mat for me quite nicely. The wire/ mesh frame that the pack sits on is breathable, comfortable, and distributes weight well when carrying lighter loads. One glaring issue that I had was the manufacturers recommended load limit of 42 pounds. For such a large capacity pack, you would think that it would not be an issue. However, any experienced camper or hiker knows that when carrying a sustainment load or anything other than a days worth of supplies, that weight will be eaten up very quickly. While this pack has many of the amenities and features of a more expensive ruck, I would recommend a sturdier pack and frame for more extended trips, hikes, or hunts. All in all, the pack is ideal for day trips or light camping. If the buyer doesn ’ t foresee themselves approaching or exceeding the weight limit, it is a very light and comfortable ruck that was clearly designed with accessibility in mind at a competitive price.
