I love this light. My previous Black Diamond headlamps( Spot 350 and even the previous revolt 350 to a degree) had a very focused beam( they were supposed to). This can be a bit disorienting when running creating a tunnel effect. The Sprinter 500 has a very even light across about a 120- 160 degree arc or cone, that lights up the whole trail in front and to the sides. Even at about half power, it was bright enough to comfortably run through tough terrain, lighting up stumps and rocks on the ground as well as low branches above, with plenty of warning to dodge. I did run this light a few times at full power and it is BRIGHT. At full power I received comments from oncoming runners and hikers to tone it down.( for the purpose of the headlamp, that's not a bad thing). I ca n't speak to battery life yet, although at max to medium power, it ran for at least 3 hours before hitting one blue light. According to the manual this is 10- 20%, I believe. I appreciate the dual fuel system and all my experience so far has been with the BD- 1800 rechargeable batteries. The only thing I 've noticed so far, is the two side adjustment buckles can work their way loose and it takes some practice to get and keep a snug fit. I have n't tried it without the top head strap, but it could probably work without it, at least for hiking.

this is the best headlamp. sure it is rechargable and it stays on your head and it has a back flasher if you need it. but the main thing is the light-- not harsh and pointy, it is even and warm and bright. like the day.

Super bright and comfortable to wear- wore it all night during an ultra run and barely noticed I was wearing it.

I ’ ve been using headlamps for as long as I can remember and have lived through all the various “ New ” things. And I ’ ve always felt they lacked in many ways. After much research I opted for the Cosmo, and I am not disappointed. After a week camping in Utah, many dog walks and various uses around the house I still have not had to recharge the batteries! I love the ease of a simple touch to increase or decrease the brightness, not having to push and click through modes. It ’s light. It fits well. I went with the Octane color so I could find it easily in a pack, and I can. It is bright, and yet low enough I can easily task. It ’s, well, Pefect!

Used it on the cactus to clouds hike, worked great from 1am to daybreak. I like that it is lighter than previous headlights I have used.

So far the Cosmo has not left me in the dark. This headlamp lives up to the bar of excellence as past Black Diamond headlamps that we still own( oldest one over 15 years!) I love the battery free rechargeable option.

5 Elsa G.
This is one of my all time favorite headlamps, very bright and I love the rechArgeable feature!

5 Jared K.
Super light weight! Has a cool dimming feature when you hold down the button. Did a lot of research on different headlamps and went with this… glad I did. Would recommend to anyone looking for a headlamp.

The Deploy headlamp from Black Diamond has become a staple in my running gear. I ’ ve used it for countless early morning runs — both on roads and trails — and it never disappoints. The adjustable brightness and light angles provide more than enough options, whether I ’ m navigating uneven terrain or cruising through low- light streets. What stands out most is how lightweight and comfortable it is. Once it's on, I honestly forget it ’s even there. It fits perfectly under a hat, stays secure without bouncing, and the foam padding adds a nice touch of comfort. When the sun comes up, it ’s small and slim enough to stash away easily in a pocket or vest. I also rely on the Deploy as a backup during ultra- trail events or as my primary until I reach my main lighting system. The quick USB- C charging is super convenient and means it ’s always ready to go. This is another awesome product from BD — compact, powerful, and thoughtfully designed. Highly recommend!

these is forfeit for running and backpacking. I love how light and bright it is

use all the time for walks at night. Brightness is easy to adjust. No hinge to break like my last one. Lasts a long time between charges. Comfortable and light to wear

5 Nick B.
This is my favorite headlamp. I have others that last longer or are brighter or that have more lighting options, but more often than not, this is the one I grab and that I prefer to wear. This is mostly attributable to its lightness and related comfort; you hardly notice it while wearing it. But for most night runs/hikes/scrambles, I 've found it to provide plenty of light and have enough battery life to get me through. The fact that it's rechargeable and lockable makes it even better.

You can ’ t even feel that it is on, it is so light! Perfect

Frequently Asked Questions For Headband Headlamp

When choosing a headband headlamp, consider features such as brightness levels, beam distance, and battery life. Adjustable brightness settings allow you to customize the light output for different activities, while a longer beam distance is beneficial for outdoor exploration. Additionally, look for headlamps with comfortable straps and lightweight designs for extended wear.

Headband headlamps are typically made from durable materials such as plastic, aluminum, and silicone. The housing often features weather-resistant properties to withstand outdoor conditions, while the headband itself is usually made from soft, flexible materials for comfort during use. These materials contribute to the overall durability and functionality of the headlamp.

Headband headlamps are versatile and suitable for a variety of activities, including hiking, camping, running, and cycling. They provide hands-free lighting, making them ideal for tasks that require both light and mobility. Additionally, they are useful for emergency situations or power outages, offering reliable illumination when needed most.

Choosing the right brightness for a headband headlamp depends on your intended use. For close-range tasks, a lower brightness may suffice, while activities like hiking or running in low-light conditions may require higher lumens for better visibility. It's also important to consider battery life, as higher brightness levels can drain batteries faster.

Headband headlamps offer hands-free operation, allowing you to illuminate your surroundings while keeping your hands free for other tasks. This is particularly advantageous during activities like climbing or repairing gear. Additionally, headlamps often provide a more even distribution of light and can be worn comfortably for extended periods.

Yes, most headband headlamps come with adjustable straps to accommodate various head sizes. This feature ensures a secure and comfortable fit, which is essential for maintaining stability during movement. Look for models that offer easy adjustments for a personalized fit, enhancing comfort and usability.
