They do take some care to unravel but if you 're careful when you pack them up each time it's not really a problem( we 've used them over 10 times with no issues). They have to be attached to an external battery which is fine, we either leave that end on a table or prop it up in a tree. Honestly been our favorite camping purchase this year.
