It is small in size, you can take it with you on a hike, it is also quite light and easy to use. ... Lightweight and easy to use axe! ... We used it to split firewood, it ’s a good axe, a sharp blade, I ’ m sure it will last a long

Forward heavy on the swing and holds an edge. This hatchet makes light work of common chores in the bush... I absolutely love the backup lighter storage, just in case I feel the need to cheat on starting a fire.

[ Wow, I was surprised at the quality of this hatchet. It has a nice weight to it, just enough that it ’s light enough to still easily use to chop wood. We camp a lot so this will be perfect for cutting up some smaller logs of wood. I love the rope and lighter storage in the handle too. I really like the color as well. Thank you Gerber for making an awesome product!

[ Very nice hatchet! It is very well weighted which makes it easy to swing. Nice addition in the handle with the paracord and the little compartment.

[ Durability is good, and portability is good, does n't take up much room and versatility and comfort and safety, and you can carry a lighter inside of it for starting a bonfire or for just chopping wood for the wood burner

Grizzly Mike
Used the hammer hatchet on our weekend scouting trip to secure and remove 10 '' dirt daggers and it worked great. It is well balanced and ergonomics are pretty good. Also, the blade edge held up really well on tough hardwood trees.

Works great for driving stakes. Would like to see a hook to use as a lever to pull them out. Axe is just ok, will never be confused with a Gerber. It is light and well made.

Sharp and well balanced ... Good fit between the head and handle; no serious or worrisome gaps. ... They are easy to handle and solidly built. ... The handle is smooth and has a comfortable

[ Super sharp out of the box and feels real nice in hand and in swing. Haven ’ t used it in the field proper yet, but did find a few things to chop and whittle in the back yard, preformed well. As you may already know Hults Bruk reputation at this point precedes itself, so feel confident about the investment. Came with some lame government warning printed on, I lightly scraped that thing off, I don ’ t need no stinking warning on my hatchet!

[ I bought the Hults Bruk Almike last month for a lightweight, light duty hatchet that would fit in my pack and this one fits all of these needs. Cuts great. It is super sharp, so watch yourself! I like the cover. No snaps!

Tamra
[ I bought 5 hatchets for the men in my family. They are easy to handle and solidly built. They maintain a sharp edge. A good company to buy from and a great hatchet.

[ I bought this as a sample of what Hults Bruk can do in order to compare to my Gransfor Bruk small forest axe. Obviously this one is smaller, but Hults Bruk axes seem to be more readily available in the States. Quality is comparable and prices between similar models seem to be lower on average than GB axes. Unfortunately, I 've yet to use this hatchet, but so far I 'd give it a strong recommend to anyone interested in a high quality axe. A few additional notes: fit and finish are great. Good fit between the head and handle; no serious or worrisome gaps. The handle is smooth and has a comfortable shape. Edge comes sharp and is fairly even on both sides. Exactly what I 'd expect from something in this price range.

The look is fantastic and sleek ... Very thin blade combined with holding an edge means it cuts through thick branchs quickly and cleanly. ... THIS HATCHET HAS A GOOD COMFORTABLE FEEL AND IS NOT TOO LONG OR TOO

Light weight and easy to use. This is a great tool for some one that goes back country camping and requires a light and easy to use tool.

Gentle Ben
Bought this for a last minute weekend hike just to have a lightweight axe with me. I was surprised at how well it worked. The axe held its edge after a weekend of chopping firewood and building a lean to. I fully expected to be resharpening or throwing it away after my trip but it held up just fine and is in my pack for next time.

Hatchet has a good feal and swing to it. It is weighted just right. Only complaint is that it could stand to be a little sharper.

Should serve it's purpose. Think it will have to be sharpened, seems awful dull. Compact enough to pack for camping. Have n't actually used yet so hard to say. Got as christmas gift.

I bought this as an alternate to a full size 'hawk. I keep it in my car but also will carry it while hiking in the Texas Hill country. It's a little lighter than I expected, but that makes it perfect for portability. I did use it to help clear some light brush last weekend. So far- everything I wanted.

Although I have not put it through a lot of use, the fasthawk has great balance and seems to be made with high qualioty

This product is so solid. Sharp and functional, it gets into spaces where limited swing area creates a need for max functionality!

Its cool and been very useful though i wish it would fit the quick tomahawk sheath. I tried and it just falls out back end first.

I carry this every wear I go with the fast hawk replacement sheath. Very satisfied with this hawk. I throws well, cuts good, takes a beating and looks badass. By buying and wearing this product everyday with the replacement fast hawk sheath you auto level up and leave everyone wondering who is this guy and what does he know that I don ’ t.

I could n't have bought a better axe for the money. ... Good axe. ... Lol the handle has taken some chips and scratches damage, but that just gives it

This is my first time throwing a tomahawk so I have hit a few other things besides the target lol- it did not even chip the blade! Awesome balance- overall a fantastic tool!

Aidan
I purchased this to replace a wooden- handled throwing tomahawk that was falling apart. Although the handle on the Tactical Tomahawk is shorter than I was used to, I quickly adapted. The head retains its edge nicely, and the handle is very secure. Excellent tomahawk, and very well- made!

Fartnok
Ok so I 'm from the Detroit area. I do n't like guns, they 're to loud. I sleep soundly with a felling axe by my bad. The Tactical Tomahawk light weight and size have made it my new go to security tool when the growl of my cats wakes me. And its tons of fun for target practice.

Christen
I love it. What more can I say. Its everything a hawk should be.

I bought 1 of these as soon as I saw them available. I use it for throwing frequently. It is balanced perfectly. The blade does n't need sharpening... Although I do sharpen it from time to time to keep that nice razor's edge on it because.. well you never know what you might actually need it for. Whether it be a cutting tool for camping... A tool to breach a door or a window... Or even for self- defense. I would give this more than five stars if it were an option. I 've put my SOG tactical tomahawk through the paces many many times and it never misses a beat. I highly recommend this to anybody from beginner to professional in whatever aspect of life you might need a tomahawk for. I am very impressed as always...
A hiking axe is primarily used for various outdoor activities, including hiking, camping, and mountaineering. It can assist in tasks such as chopping wood for campfires, clearing trails, or providing stability on steep terrain. Additionally, some hiking axes are designed for specific uses like ice climbing or snow traversing.
When selecting a hiking axe, consider the weight, length, and material of the axe head and handle. A lightweight axe is easier to carry on long hikes, while a durable head made from high-quality steel can enhance performance. Also, look for features like a comfortable grip and a balanced design for better control.
Yes, there are several types of hiking axes designed for different activities. General-purpose axes are suitable for camping and light chopping, while specialized axes, like ice axes, are tailored for climbing and traversing icy terrains. Understanding the intended use will help you choose the right type for your needs.
Choosing the right size hiking axe depends on your height, strength, and the type of activities you plan to undertake. A longer axe provides more leverage for chopping, while a shorter axe is easier to maneuver in tight spaces. It's important to find a size that feels comfortable and allows for effective use.
Hiking axes are typically made from a combination of steel and wood or composite materials. The axe head is often made of high-carbon steel for durability and edge retention, while the handle can be crafted from lightweight woods or synthetic materials for strength and reduced weight. These materials contribute to the overall performance and longevity of the axe.
Yes, many hiking axes are designed to be effective in winter conditions, especially those intended for mountaineering or ice climbing. They provide stability and support on snow and ice, making them essential for navigating challenging winter terrains. However, it's important to select an axe specifically designed for such conditions to ensure safety and effectiveness.
