Great action, but more of a do- little technique, so I 'm not complaining. I use with the smallest Elaztech TRD, although this jig head was designed for the newer, slightly larger TRD. Dick's did n't carry any Elaztech soft plastics, and did n't have any options of weight of the jig head, so I had to get one that was triple as heavy and sink rate than I would have liked, but it still works. Obviously hard to go wrong with the Ned Rig no matter where you are, so a jig head made especially for it is great.

I call this item `` the cheat code '' this paired with the Zman TRD is a fish catching machine. This will attract a bite when fish are too lazy for anything else. Pricey jig head, but it is the best at what it does: Ned. I 've spent a ton buying cheaper heads that just do n't present the bait right. Do n't waste your money on other heads, this is the best of the bunch, and while per hook they cost more, they do n't get hung up as often, so you end up ahead.

Caught a number of small bass but some medium sized ones but also a monster that had to weigh more than 8 lbs. It has handled everything perfectly and the rod is still perfectly straight. I love almost everything about the rod. I bought the 6, 6 medium 2 peice. It's light weight, and very sensitive, I feel every bite! The only down side I have to the rod is the bait holder hook on the rod is right under your hand, which is a terrible spot if using treble hooks, or any hooks for that matter. Other then that, it's a great rod for bass fishing!

I got this combo three weeks ago and loved it from day one. Bait casters can be tricky and each can have a learning curve all its own. That said, the rod has great action and the real is very smooth and accurate.... then I hooked a personal best large mouth at 9lbs witch should be within its spec but the rod snapped 23 ” from the tip. I wasn ’ t over extended or pushing the limits. The line held and I painfully hand lined it in. If I had to do it again, I wouldn ’ t change a thing! I WILL perches this combo again.

It ’s true what they say: those who have bad experiences post often( IMHO, typically user error or sheer stupidity) and those who have good experiences just don ’ t... This rod and reel combo( Dick ’s Sporting Goods own “ brand ” by Field and Stream) delivers exactly what it ’s supposed to do at a competitive price. It ’s inexpensive, easy to use, light- weight, with a sensitive rod and a smooth reel. Your line makes all the difference casting- wise in regard to many aspects, so choose wisely. As an experienced angler, it performs just as well as several far more expensive ones( I almost bought two, and just might). I bought this to replace one “ expensive ” rod and reel my son dropped/lost in the river while we were kayaking and trolling. It ’s a great buy and performs great!
