[ Incredible handling and climbing right out of the package with minimal coil. Superior handling to any rope I 've used before( Petzl, BD, Mammut, etc.). Even with the double dry coating, the rope is still super subtle and handles as though there's no coating on it at all.

[ I have done about 35 pitches with this rope. Aside from the normal stress getting twists out that most new ropes give i am really impressed with the handling of this rope and how easily it feeds through belay devices. It still catches falls really nicely though. I have used this rope with a rope bag except on multipitches so i am surprised at how much dirt this rope has picked up. Although we did get caught in the rain once and it may have been a little damp on the next outing. I will give it a wash and evaluate further

[ Soft, supple, good quality rope that runs through belay devices like butter. Easy to clip and doesn ’ t get kinky. I ’ m sold on Petzl ropes. Get one!

[ The handle on this rope is great! Rope clips fast and belays smooth. Ready to climb right out of the coil. Next time probably order the 9. 2.

5 Martin1969
[ Bought this rope a few weeks ago, love it. It feeds well thru the grigri and seems very durable. Love the orange color, really stands out on rock!

5 Andrew
[ I have a friend who bought a similar style and priced rope in another brand on this site and it was so sticky and still is. This has been a dream to work with right out of the box. I appreciate the extra length for awkward length repels in El Petrero Chico. Highly recommend.

5 Weston
[ You could n't pay me to switch ropes. This is one beautiful, high- quality rope that leaves all the climbers that have seen it in awe. I bought this rope because it was one of the highest recommended ropes on the internet. I have been out at the New River Gorge in West Virginia with it and it performed amazing. It is a 9. 5mm so it fits perfectly within the three star rating for the GriGri 2 and the GriGri+. This rope feeds SMOOTH. I use the GriGri+ and man, I have had so many people comment about how great the rope feeds through the belay devices. It gives the perfect amount of smooth without sacrificing safety. I gave the 4 stars on durability because I have n't had the rope for long so I just do n't know it's durability. It also is a bit smaller so naturally there will be more wear, quicker on the rope. I will say there is a little bit of a marketing error. The gold rope color is definitely gold with black dots within it. It's NOT brown/black with some gold in it. I 've included a picture of me climbing with it where you can actively see that the color, even from afar.

The Crag Classic offers excellent handling, making it suitable for various climbing scenarios, from single- pitch sport routes to multi- pitch trad climbs. Its supple nature ensures smooth feeding through belay devices, enhancing the overall climbing experience. With a sheath proportion of 42%, this rope demonstrates impressive durability. It withstands abrasion effectively, making it ideal for rugged terrains and extended use.

5 David P
It's a solid rope at a good price. Not the most durable, but it feels good and feeds well. It is a great all around rope. Not much more to say.

5 Finn K
This is a great rope for the price and size. It is a good all around rope for the crag. It is not a dry rope, so it ’s important to only use in ideal conditions, but for someone like me where I will only be climbing outdoors if its nice out, it works great!

5 Micah W
I used this rope at least 2 days per week all summer mainly sport climbing near my max grade and taking the occasional whip. I 've used it for multi- pitch through a guide- style belay device, as well as Neox and Grigri. It's supple on the hands and does n't pick up much dirt. Highly recommend!

5 Virginia P
Love the two designs, easy to find middle point, moves smooth in ATC, good stretch… I ❤️ this rope

5 Kyle M
Fantastic rope and durability. I buy new rope every year and this one has not disappointed. I went with the larger 9. 8 vs 9. 5 and it ’s great for Trad days and normal wear and tear. If you are heavy and belayer a lighter individual just need to ensure they are really good with catches. The 9. 8 has a little less elasticity than the smaller ropes and could create harder catches. But no issues with good belayers knowing how to catch. Rope has stayed cleaner then other classic crag ropes and doesn ’ t seem to collect dirt as easily. Overall would recommend.

5 Zubin C
It's nothing glamorous, but so far it's held up extremely well. Rope is easy to clip and feeds well through various belay devices.

5 Michael B
iIf you 're looking for a good, do everything well, climbing rope, this is your rope. It's extremely durable, just enough stretch for soft catches, and it holds up extremely well to the hard and sharp limestone and sandstone of the Southeast US. Definitely recommend this product for everyone. if you 're a beginner, this rope will stick with you well into an expert level and serve you well. If you 're already advanced.... this rope wo n't let you down

5 Aaron B
Very dependable rope. Has taken plenty of falls and still is in great shape and feeds well through my device even when dirty. Would recommend!

5 Nelson C
Overall fantastic gym rope, does not coil as bad as my previous rope. Really like how easy it flakes before climbing and flows through the grigri and ATC wonderfully. Fell on it a few times and seems to have a good amount of give but not to much that it feels like it's being over stretched. The wear is holding up well no real signs of damage. For reference it's been winter in CO so Indoor climbing has been have been super aggressive for 3 days a week for several hours/routes. Overall would definitely recommend this rope for gym use!

5 Samantha S
I have been using this rope strictly in the gym for over a year and it is a workhorse. I flip it periodically, but it ’s been amazing! Rarely tangles, packs away in this tiny tote bag for the gym, and it easily reaches even the tallest walls in my gym. I would highly recommend this to anyone who needs a gym rope. It feeds through the Grogu so smooth and doesn ’ t get stuck or pinched because it ’s a really great diameter.

5 Sandy S
This was an excellent gym rope. The 40m length was easy to flake and the rope didn ’ t twist or kink even in our first uses of it. The diameter is excellent and feeds really smoothly through a grigri( which our gym requires for lead climbing). Clearly visible middle mark. Very pleased with our purchase.

5 Quin K
I 've climbed on this rope for a couple of months now, overall a great indoor rope. Good stretch for soft catches and easy to belay with. Was really slick at first as most new ropes are but has fuzzed up a little as expected. No issue with handling through a GriGri or ATC. Overall a great rope for gym use!

5 Michael D
This climbing rope has proven to be a reliable companion on my adventures. Its sheath is durable and resistant to abrasion, ensuring longevity even in challenging conditions. The core is strong and flexible, offering excellent shock absorption during falls. The rope handles well, knotting easily and lying smoothly through my belay device. Whether I 'm tackling multi- pitch routes or sport climbing, this rope has consistently performed admirably, providing me with confidence and safety.

[ Bought this rope for glacier travel and potentially rappelling into crevasses. Climbed Mount Baker this past weekend with a 5 person team using it and worked like a charm. Rope sat overnight on some wet snow and felt as dry the next morning as when we put it down. Rope also got stepped on a few times with crampons with 0 damage to the sheath which was nice. Used it for some dry run crevasse rescue training and handled like a breeze.

[ I bought this for mountaineering in the cascades. Perfect size. Lightweight. Stays dry, light, and pretty even on dirty glaciers. Will buy again.

5 Darline D
This rope lasted me through many trips. Single Pitch cragging to short and long Multipitch routes. It saw many whips and did n't need the ends to be cut until year 3. Very impressed. Just make sure you wash it to keep it performing well longer

5 Sally H
You can not go wrong with Mammut ropes. They are reliable, easy to flake( well, as easy as that can be), and smooth through the belay device. This is a great go- to rope, treated for some of our damper crags and surprise rain. Evident quality boosts confidence while high on the route. As I have written in past Mammut reviews, I am never afraid to put loved ones up on their ropes. Happy climbing, y ’ all!

5 Cooper H
I ’ ve used this rope for two years now for both sport and trad climbing, as well as top roping. Not only do I appreciate the dry- treatment and its ability to keep the rope dry if a surprise shower comes, but it also increases the durability of the rope which I can definitely tell the difference in. Though the dry treatment has faded with various washings, I was able to use the rope for ice climbing before that and it worked very well in those conditions. Overall, I would highly recommend this rope to other climbers. I have a 70m version of it, and it ’s been great across the country to access different climbs.

5 Zachary R
If I were to own only one rope, this would be it. The balance of durability, weight, and elasticity make it the rope I reach for the most when I am headed to the crag. It also feeds well through a grigri and atc style devices. I 've used other ropes that are more supple or lighter, but are less durable or stretch too much. I use this rope for single pitch and multi pitch trad mostly, and sometimes for toprope and sport. This rope balances them all nicely.

5 John D

[ Easy to use rope. I like the black sheath with white core, making it easy to scan for damage. Have used for tree anchors, ascending, and rappels. Works as intended. I ’ m happy with all my mammut products so far!

5 Jason F
This is my new go to for static rope! It's a very soft rope out of the box and I really like the red and black color scheme.

I got this as my first rope, and I must say it was the correct decision. I have used it on all my climbing adventures, and I have n't noticed any damage through numerous falls. It's been rubbed up against rocks and has maintained the integrity of it's sheath. It's a rope I found just works with belay devices, and does n't have any of the annoying characteristics of some ropes; it does n't slide through or require excessive weight to let slack out.

5 Brittany B
This rope is extremely durable and reliable. I 've used it on lots of single and multi pitch routes on granite rock and it shows little sign of wear. I love having the dry rope over the regular crag rope; you 're always prepared for the weather. The first few uses the rope can feel really stiff but that works itself out rather easily. Great for anyone climbing outside.

5 Stephanie C
I have used this rope for top roping and sport climbing. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a rope. It is very tough, and easy to work with. I have put the waterproofing to the test, and it seems to work well! I have also washed this rope a couple times with no issues.

5 Parker S
Durable, reliable. Used this at the Red and NRG several times already.

5 Anna P
Very durable yet light rope to climb in fast- changing alpine weather. Performs great on sharp limestone. I test it over 6 month in the mountains in North America and Europe. No visible abrasion, nor wear and tear after climbing 3- 5 days a week from April to September. Fantastic, well- behaving rope, easy to manage and very reliable. The best option for sports routes.

[ Took the new rope out for her maiden voyage on a 4 pitch sport climb in Leavenworth and as expected, the bi- pattern feature was a delight for rappelling- being able to find where the middle was, and also pulling the right side of the rope for midway rappel transitions. The rope handled great otherwise. I was worried based on photography that the color of the rope would be too dark and pattern would not be super discernible, but in the bright outdoor light, it's a lot easier to see the difference.

I love mammut alpine and crag dry ropes. I have an 80m crag and a 60m alpine I do n't see or feel any difference besides colors and naming. They have both held up exceptionally well to abrasion and sheath wear. The dry coating can feel a little tacky at first but that goes away quickly with use. The 9. 5 diameter runs smoothly through a grigri and is still thick enough to feel like the rope wo n't get away from you during a fall. The stretch of the rope is just in that sweet spot not too much and not too little.

5 John R
I love this rope it is great indoors and outdoors. It ’s got a good amount of give for those big whips and slides through the gri gri super well. I have not had any issues with this rope and definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good versatile rope.

5 Allen R
Dry treatment has stood up to rain and wet ice no problem. Not too stretchy or heavy. 10/10 would buy again.

I have used this rope extensively in its past iterations and now this is my 5th one. This rope holds up very well to abrasion and is my main pick on long trad routes. It feeds very smoothly through multiple types of belay devices and knots tie easily. Great rope to trust your life to.

This rope lasted me through many trips. Single Pitch cragging to short and long Multipitch routes. It saw many whips and did n't need the ends to be cut until year 3. Very impressed. Just make sure you wash it to keep it performing well longer

[ The problem with all my old ropes is that the middle marker always fade and i cant find the middle anymore so it was hassle to rappel. But with this one, one side is blue and one side is pink. Its like 2 different ropes. Its amazing! The only downside is that its a little pricey

[ This rope is great for rappelling. It runs threw belay devices like a Grgi and atc well also, ties knots well. Its a bit stiff but I like that in a static rope.

5 TK13
[ Got this rope specifically for ice climbing in Lake City. It worked out perfectly! Without it it would have been a challenge to get the master point over the edge. The rope was easy to tie and untie knots in and was a good width to handle. I 'd highly recommend this rope.

5 JHRafter
[ Great Rope, i bought this but have not had time to use it before writing this review. This should be a great rope and i am happy i bought it.

5 Mike08
[ Picked up this rope a few weeks ago. I use it for recreational tree climbing and personal tree pruning at home. Fantastic deal and a great rope for this purpose. Extremely happy with this product!

[ Purchased this rope for use as I pursue my SPI certification. The rope has been very easy to work with because it is so supple. I also appreciate the black coloring so that it does n't look dingy after attaching it to tree after tree setting up anchors.

[ Great rope! Everything as described! It is super light weight, the rope is seventy meters long and very durable! It is also big enough to be used in my micro traxion!

5 Misty032404
[ I bought this acouple weeks ago it is a great item, its not to bulky or heavy to pack, the size is great and love the color! It's a great addition to our gear.

5 Kronos
[ I bought this for rapping on multi pitch read lines whenever clean pulls are available. Lighter than a second rope but the 8mm is heavy enough not to snag or kink as much as some of the 6mm or 7mm taglines out there. Sterling ropes are always well made and this seems to handle nice and isn ’ t too heavy. At 8mm you can do some hauling if need be too. If weight is an issue check out the 7mm tagline from Sterling.

4 Emp22
[ It ’s lightweight but large diameter enough that it connects to my lead rope well. Fits in my rappel device( petzl reverso) and works well as a grab and go emergency backup for alpine routes. I haven ’ t put it to the test much yet so can ’ t speak for durability but it ’s strong, light and one of the cheaper static lines I ’ ve been able to find.

[ This was bought for a beginning climber and has definitely met her expectations! It is long enough to use for repelling the local cliffs and light enough to carry on a backpacking trip for `` just in case '' moments.

5 Boulderingisntclimbing
[ Love this rope. It ’s been my go to for a couple of years now. It stands my family ’s constant top roping and the choss we drag it through. My only complaint is that dirt gets smeared into it pretty badly and it ’s on the heavier side.

5 BigWhip
[ This was a Christmas gift and I 've been lead climbing with it for a couple of weeks now. its a great feeling rope, easy to handle, does n't burn my hand when I 'm belaying either. It does fly through my ATC so I 'm using it in my Grigri for now until it's well broken in.

5 Derek
[ Great rope at a great price! I have been very happy with this rope. It is my first climbing rope. Has a nice feel and durability seems excellent so far.

Great alpine rope! Extremely light and easy to pack, which makes it excellent for alpine work or if you don ’ t feel like carrying a 8. 5- 10mm rope up to a route. I haven ’ t taken any big whips on the rope, but I ’ ve had to abort a few routes and it has plenty of elasticity to soak up a fall. My only complaint is that it does like to kink up after a couple climbs forcing you to ‘ untwist ’ the rope, but since it ’s so thin and light that ’s somewhat expected. If you need a light, packable, go anywhere rope this is it!

5 Soumen D
I bought a pair( orange, blue) for alpine routes. So far I really like these ropes.

5 JC D
I 'm on my second set of these ropes and they have never let me down, except when I want to to go down. Their weight, dry treatment and durability are fantastic. After a long, hard season of big ice and mixed routes, they are showing very little wear. Once the dry treatment is worn they will become my go to for multi pitch rock. I highly recommend these if you are looking to go fast and light and want the high quality that Mammut is know for.

5 Olivier V
Handle well, light, bright color. Perfect rope for your project!

5 Casey S
This is my go- to rope for anything in the alpine. From 5th class rock to glacier travel I have used this rope extensively in a variety of terrain. The bright orange is a great contrasting color. Despite its small diameter is very durable and has survived many crampons and sharp rock edges over the past year.

Have been using this for a season for alpine and ice climbing. lightweight and performs as expected. I got the orange color so the middle mark would be more noticeable over time. My friend has the blue color and the mark is invisible after a season. Have not noticed any wear but its only been one season. No complaints

5 Helga S
We 've been climbing on my friend's Alpine Sender Dry for a while now( she actually has two so they can be used as twin ropes) and just loved it so got our own. It's nice and light and belaying is so comfortable and lightens the load a lot for multi- pitch climbing as well as the weight carried on the approach. Mammut is may favored brand-- they come coiled in a way that does n't require any extra work to get out kinks, and they are soft and supple to use.

5 Keegan M
I have now used this rope a number of times ranging from Alpine Rock Climbing in Colorado and the Tetons to a glacier rope on the Ptarmigan traverse and Rainier. It is truly terrific. The rope is easy to work with, whether throwing into and out of kiwi coils to setting up a hanging belay. Overall I am quite happy and despite hard use has shown little signs of wear. The coating on the rope works quite well especially in long days on glacier with it running between dirt to water.

5 Leif M
Would I recommend this as an introductory rope for TR project sessions? Nope. Does it hit the sweet spot for versatility as a single or double rope? Absolutely. The Alpine Sender Dry has great handling and is thick enough to inspire confidence when used as a single. When used as doubles it allows groups of 3 to climb multipitch and offers improved safety over tagline tactics on double rope rappels.

[ I love this rope for multi- pitch use and alpine climbs. It is lighter than other ropes which makes approaches more bearable. I just wish it was bi- colored and then it would be the perfect rope.

5 Phil
[ I 've used these for several months now. Great `` feel ''. Solid in my ATC guide and gri- gri. Sheath seems to wear a little faster than my burly older 60m single rope.

5 Bill
[ This rope has a dry cover treatment so it's slick enough to keep the grit of Smith Rock out of it, and just small enough to belay from above with a Reverso comfortably. I 'm pretty happy with the handling and feel of the rope so far and the weight per meter is without question amazing. My only question is in regards to durability when rapping over sharp edges, but with the Unicore peace of mind that concern is much less so than other ropes I 've used.

5 FB123
[ This rope is excellent for alpine pursuits with long approaches. Lightweight yet reliable for ice and rock, it has a silky touch for smooth belays and fast rappels. Useful middle mark and water treatment make this rope perfect for all- season in the Rockies, the Cascades, or the Andes.

5 max23
[ I bought this last month and used it for some multi pitch. The rope is super smooth and the dry coat is durable. i 'm looking forward to taking it out on the glacier soon because it's also pretty light!!
