I was having some difficulty finding brake pads in town and a friend suggested Dick's. To my surprise you carried a product and a great price and I was able to get back on the road with brakes that were better than before.

5 Jomien
My bikes original brake pads were very noisy and not gripping as firmly as they used to. They were over 5 years old so I decided to replace both the front and rear brakes and install them myself. This was a great idea. Took my time, relatively easy to install as per the instructions( and YouTube, lol!) and bike brakes like it did when it was brand new! Definitely recommended for an easy and very inexpensive brake job.

Great quality, price to value and features. Easy for the Kid to manage and handle the bike.

5 TheBallCoach
This is a really nice bike! Great looking! High quality! My nine year old daughter loves the color, the size, and the comfort. She is looking forward to the upgrading from her “ kids ” bike to a “ big girl ” mountain bike.

5 JACFIU
Received this bike to review and have been pleasantly surprised. The bike was easy to put together. The instructions were easy to follow. The bike seems to be very sturdy as I had my 11 year old put it through it paces and the bike withstood the abuse. The bike has a very sleek modern design that makes it stand out. Would definitely recommend this bike to any parent that wants a sturdy bike that should last a long time.

5 Ashley
My 6 1/2 year old daughter has finally taken an interest in riding her bike, without being bribed. The bad news is that she had already outgrown her bike from last summer. When she saw this bike she hopped right on it and road down the driveway. The quality of this bike is amazing! It was easy to put together, is very sturdy and according to my little one it rides very smooth! I love how the bike is purple and pink, without looking too girly or childish.

5 Singh2
My daughter loves riding the bike. Its build sturdy and acceleration is good

The bile was easy to assemble. The quality of the bike is fantastic. My child love his new bike. We ride bikes daily through the neighborhoods, parks, and trails. We will be taking it with us on vacation soon and riding at the beaches.

The neon yellow boys bike is an eye- catching marvel, perfect for adventurous youngsters. With its smooth shifting gears, riding becomes effortless and enjoyable. What sets this bike apart is its incredibly easy assembly process. Even for those with minimal experience, putting it together is a breeze. No frustration, just fun! However, what truly impressed us was Dick's Bike Service. Their thorough inspection post- installation ensured any issues were swiftly addressed, leaving us with a perfectly tuned ride. This is a perfect bike for our 6 year old. We were looking for something that he could use for a few years and since the seat will adjust up and down we are confident he can ride this for a few years. It was very easy to assemble- his 16 year old brother assembled it in about 30 minutes. It was packaged well and the instructions were clear.

I bought two bikes for my grandkids and they love them.

5 Lauren P
Bike arrived quickly and set up( according to husband) was as expected for a bike and no problems encountered. My 10 year old was super excited and so far loves the bike. Seems to be the perfect size for him( he ’s around 5 feet).

5 Love2run
This is such a great looking bike. I love the bright royal blue with the neon accents. We ordered it for my 10 year old son and have the seat put all the way down so he has years to grow with this bike. It has been a solid all terrain bike and best of all my son loves it. This is his first bike with gears and he figured them out on his first ride and said they shift easily. It ’s been about three weeks of him riding daily and I would definitely recommend this bike! Such a great value for the price. This is a well made and sturdy bike. I ’ m looking into getting a second one for my other son. The assembly took about 45 minutes to set up as we had trouble getting by the gears in place. The next one, I will have pre- assembled!

This bike came in a large box, but i like that it had handle holes on both sides to make it easy to carry. When i opened the box, the bike was mostly put together( thankfully). It came with a saftey instructions booklet, but the assembly instructions had to be found online. I would have preferred the assembly instructions in the box and the safety information online( I just may be old school that way). The assembly was not straight forward as the instructions contain different types and styles of bikes. Also, since the bike was mostly put together, the instructions were a little confusing to explain how to put it together. I would suggest having instructions specific to completing the build in it's current state Nd to have differnt sections for each bike style or type( instead of all being described together). I was able to figure out how to complete the construction and test out the handling and brakes. My youngest son rode around the front yard with a big smile on his face. He said he like to color of his new bike. He has been on it the past week and I even caught my middle son riding the new bike.

5 Myersma
The bike is very nice and my son really likes it. I put it together and it seems well made. The only issues was there were no instructions that came with it. Had to look them up online and they were not easy to follow. I suggest having Dick ’s put it together for you.

I bought one in the purple color and my girls love it. I have twins so I 've decided to buy one first to test if it's really a good purchase. My girls rode the bike today, it was comfortable for her to sit on and she enjoyed her first experience with a gear shifting bicycle. It was easy to carry the bike in the car. The front wheel can be removed in 1 minute so it just fit into the trunk of our SUV. Tomorrow I 'm going back buying the blue colored one for my other girl. I would recommend this bike with an in- store purchase. The store sales person performed a safety check, adjusted everything and inflated the tires before handed it over to us at the check out counter. I also purchased a one- year protection plan for$ 23 which i figured comes handy if the girls fall and a part will need to be replaced due to accidental damage.

5 WW84
The Nishiki Girls ’ Pueblo bike was easy to assemble if you have assembled a bike before. If not, the instructions are too small to read and no pictures are provide to guide a person. The bike is sturdy and such a great color for an older child. It ’s great for outdoors( street) and trails. The suspension fork works amazing both terrains The bike is light weight and easy to shift( all according to a 10- year- old). The front and bake breaks provide solid control. The kickstand is an added feature that was not expected on a mountain like bike.

5 Joekari3
This bike arrived well packaged with easy assembly. It took less than a half hour to unbox and put together. It does include a manual with some guidance. The bike appears solid for my pre- teen who shares the bike rides nice. She has had limited riding due to the weather. The gears shift great and brakes work as they should.

The bike is great for a teenager for adult who is a casual bike rider/weekend bike rider. This isn ’ t the bike for someone who is a hardcore cyclist. It works great and there are no issues, but it ’s heavy and is a standard bike. The manual was awful at telling you how to put it together and I had to pay a bike shop to do it. Not happy about that part. Once together, it worked fine. You do have to release the front brake in order to take the front tire off for transport which I don ’ t have to do on another bike we own. The gears and pedals work fine. It ’s a decent bike in the$ 400 range.

5 New Grandma
We bought this bike for my sons birthday- the first bike we purchased, the pedal came off after just one use. So we returned it and bought this one instead and we love it. Meets every expectation.

5 Spress
Bought this bike as a second bike. I have a road bike but my wife and son have mountain bikes so I got this so I can enjoy rides offroad with them. Everything about this bike is nice. Shifting is smooth, braking is smooth and the suspension is great.

The color of this bike is my absolute favorite. It ’s a vibrant coral color and definitely a head turner. The tires come wider so they are perfect for every day riding or if you ’ re into the trails. It ’s very easy to put together and came shipped very well packaged so no damage occurs.

5 Megan C
Great women ’s bike! We own a couple Nishiki bikes and absolutely love them. We were pleasantly surprised when this bike arrived and a kickstand was included. With this previous model we had to purchase a kickstand in addition to the bike. Assembly took under an hour and was pretty simple. The color was beautiful! It says it is orange and red, but when it arrived it was a beautiful light orange and the red was more of a coral. It rides great as well!

5 Yolanda
This bike is not what I had expected. The performance and sturdiness of the bike are great. I ’ m use to riding a 12speed hybrid bike. However this bike ’s performance is awesome. The suspension is better on the joints and was able to ride uphill without a problem. The shifts are easy to use. The tires help provide a smooth, nice ride on street surfaces and on dirt. The placement of the handle bars help elevate pressure and numbing after riding a while.

5 David M.
What an attractive looking bike with a solid build. It was very easy to put together and adjustments to brakes and gears was very simple. We went with the smaller size 15 bike which was great for my teenage daughter who is about 5 ’ 1 ”. My wife test rode the bike but it was a tad small for her and she ’s 5 ’ 6 ”. She found the ride smooth and it was very easy to change gears and brake. Lovely bike overall.

Frequently Asked Questions For Linear Pull Brake Bikes

Linear pull brakes, also known as V-brakes, are a type of rim brake commonly used on bicycles. They consist of two arms that pull the brake pads against the rim when the brake lever is engaged. This design provides increased stopping power and better modulation compared to traditional caliper brakes, making them popular for mountain and hybrid bikes.

Linear pull brakes offer several advantages, including superior stopping power and improved performance in wet conditions. Their design allows for easier adjustment and replacement of brake pads, which can enhance overall maintenance. Additionally, they are lightweight and can be more responsive than other brake types, making them ideal for various riding styles.

While linear pull brakes are commonly found on mountain bikes and some hybrid models, they may not be compatible with all bike types. It's important to check the frame and fork design, as well as the brake lever compatibility, to ensure proper installation. Some road bikes may require different brake systems due to their unique geometry.

Brake pads on linear pull brakes should be replaced when they show signs of significant wear, such as reduced braking performance or visible grooves in the pad material. Regularly inspecting the pads for wear and ensuring they make proper contact with the rim can help maintain optimal braking efficiency. If you notice any squeaking or grinding noises while braking, it may also indicate that replacement is necessary.

Linear pull brake pads are typically made from various materials, including rubber compounds, synthetic materials, and sometimes metal. The choice of material can affect braking performance, wear resistance, and noise levels. Higher-quality pads often feature advanced compounds designed to provide better grip and durability, especially in diverse weather conditions.

Yes, the braking force of linear pull brakes can often be adjusted by changing the position of the brake pads or by modifying the cable tension. Many systems allow for fine-tuning to achieve the desired level of responsiveness. Proper adjustment can enhance braking performance and ensure a comfortable riding experience, especially in varying terrain.
