Love the arch support on these and the price point. Although they ’ re not the best looking shoe to wear, this shoe is definitely made to put in work. Minor slippage on my right foot as it ’s slightly smaller than my left foot. Toe cap is not your average Nike narrow one. It is a little wider( assuming it ’s for when your toes expand while running). They fit differently, but if I were to go. 5 smaller my big toe would definitely hit. I went true to size and I always fit into their narrow shoes( Nike).

I have the altra gators and( not just this shoe but others) the laces do n't go far enough towards to toes so you ca n't use the lace hook on the gator. I was so bummed when they put out several versions with that arch support. It seemed so antithetical to what the shoe was about and, obviously, rubbed my feet too much. The Trail Gloves have been one of my favorites from the beginning and I hope that they quit getting rid of the features that make them great. My requests would be: widen the toe box a bit more for some more natural flare, go back to a more aggressive tread. The current tread looks cool but it is shallow, wears down under the balls of your feet pretty quickly, and gets caked with mud much quicker( thus losing your traction). Under most conditions though these are top notch. I used them in a 35 mile adventure race in Bend, Oregon and they were the perfect shoe!

I 'll admit that I have always thought Altra shoes were not for me. Between the squared off toe box and the zero drop DNA; I just never gave them a chance. That all changed when they came out with the Experience collection and the move to a mid- drop ALTernative. I rushed to my local running store to try on a pair even though I did n't really even need new shoes. That 5 minute walk around the store was all it took. I am a convert- 100%. Use them as hiking and backpacking shoes, 3- 4 days of light use to break them in, than a 3 day backpacking trip with substantial load, few days later a SAR trip, and a day hike. Great shoes. No hot spots, great room for my wide feet and toes and nice support. I usually wear boots with my heavy pack so was pleasantly surprised. Seem little tight first through the middle of my feet first, especially around the top, but went away after couple days of light wear. Only issue is the loop on the back. Could be slightly bigger to allow a finger to go through, would allow shoes to be put on a lot easier.

I have been running for 56 years. I have seen the development of all shoes from all brands. For me, the Timp 5 is one of the best shoes I have ever used. It just feels like running. In all honesty... I do not run... unless being chased... or the quick sprint to catch my kids. But I walk, hike, ruck,& I am brutal on my feet/shoes with a- lot of stop& go in my work. I average 6- 10 miles a day& for the first time in a while my feet did not scream at the end of 3 straight days trying these, great right out of the box( really low profile socks bunch up in the back a bit) They do work really well with my custom orthotics, clean easy, breath, do not really pick up gravel, and have great grip and balance. The Ride is one of my favourite go to shoe from Saucony. It is a true runners' shoe in the sense that it is the total package; cushioning, flexibility, and responsiveness with a touch of inherent stability. The updates of the Ride see it getting lighter, with improved cushioning and fit. I recently did a 50k rail trail race and they held up well; my legs were n't as beat up as they usually are after a long race. It is a great shoe for just about any type of run including hard tempo efforts and Marathon paced efforts. If you didnt want to spend cash on a plated trainer, then this could be a single quiver shoe for the conscientious consumer. My only concern is that the rubber on the outsole is beginning to wear quickly. Although it is likely an aesthetic issue, it is something worth pointing out. Overall, I believe the shoes will last a long time due to the amount of overall cushioning and I will continue to pile up the miles on my new Rides.
