I did n't actually need another cap. The original continues to work great. I just got an extra cap because I 've got multiple toddler- aged grandchildren that like to take apart and play with Papa's stuff. And then lose it somewhere. This water bottle is very well built. It keeps my water cold all day long and I appreciate the size of the 64 oz. I only have to refill once a day to stay pretty hydrated. Only concern is sometimes getting the second drinking cap off to fill up the bottle. If you take it off regularly you should be in good shape for opening pickle jars.
