Two issues- one, as another reviewer commented, the bar comes with what I assume is an anti- rust coating that's a little messy to remove. It would be nice if some instructions came for that. I do n't know if I got lucky or got some weird b- stock, but my bar is 84 '' which is 7'. But that's absolutely fine with me. That length allows for plenty of grip area: about 51 '' wide. So I have no problem with wider grip movements. The knurling of the grip area is( in my opinion) pretty aggressive- meaning it feels like it's a deeper, maybe even `` sharper '' grip. Some may like this, some may not. I prefer it. I do like that the center of the bar is NOT knurled. When doing any kind of clean or front squat, the center of the bar rests on the top of the chest and, to me, knurling the center scratches up the chest like crazy. If anyone is complaining about the bar not being an Olympic size, then those people apparently do n't know what `` standard '' means for barbells... they apparently also do n't look at photos of the product because there's no way you look at the pic of this bar and think it's Olympic size!;) It would be nice if a bar like this would include clamps/collars- those spring clamps are cheap, just include them! I had no problem getting my older standard size collars to fit but it seems that there are some people that have had to get larger clamps. Why a 'standard' collar does n't fit a 'standar' bar? I dunno. I mean, standard is supposed to mean standard, right? I double checked my bar, it looks be dead on 1 '' diameter. Hopefully people that purchase bar understand that it is not meant for really heavy Olympic lifts, it is not meant for rubber bumper plates that can be dropped. This is a basic bar made for home workout enthusiasts. I did go to the local store to purchase this bar, but they do n't carry this type in store... they only carry the bar with the `` screw on '' collars which I think are terrible( they always loosen). So they had me order it in store, online which was awesome because it ended up free shipping and arrived at my front door two days later!

Shopped around for some farmer carry bars and what drew my attention to these besides the great price was the knurled grips that I did n't see most if not all of the others. I ordered them on a Friday and they were delivered on Wednesday. The packaging was in good shape and there were no flaws in the finish of the bars. The bars weighed in at 22. 2lbs each on my bathroom scale. There is 12 '' of sleeve length which will allow for plenty of weight. They came with 4 spring collars which is a good thing because standard spring collars are too big. But less than standard olympic sleeve diameter seems to be the norm with all these carry bars. I did find that my hex collars will also work on them, just not as tight as on an Olympic bar. I 'm very happy with the purchase and ca n't wait to try them out.

They seem well built otherwise and held up to the 220# I had on each of them. They are well balanced and provided quite a workout. The knurling is pretty agressive, but similar to powerlifting bars. these are great for a good pool work out. they are a bit `` heavy ''( more floatation) but you can use slower movements or keep them more shallow for less of resistance, and move them faster or push them further under water( or do both actions at the same time) for more resistance. they seem to be holding up well so far but I have not had them for very long. hopefully they will continue to hold up in my 3 times a week hour long pool class at the gym.

I have been using this bar for 2 months. I use it for 150 to 175 lbs sets and the bar does not deflect at all. What I like best is that the handles are in perfect alignment. so, this gives me great balance to work both sides of my back. Great bar.

Pretty good construction- welds at bar/collar junction seem pretty well done. Hollow but side walls of bar pretty thick. Not sure about weight capacity, but seems like it would do fine with 200- 250 lbs. Definitely increases range of motion. Allows for about 3 '' in grip width variation, so you can emphasize outer lats or nearer to spine pretty effectively. Collar fits perfectly over olympic bar ends. I 've not tried the smaller collar over standard bars, but at least it's an option. Personally, I feel the price for this particular item was a bit high. From my research it was comparable to commercial bars of greater thickness and weight capacity. However, this was readily available and in stock from Dick's, so that became the selling point for me. I would recommend the bar to others, but I would suggest to see if it goes on sale or if a coupon becomes available before purchasing at full price.
