Leaps and bounds better than the Titan at far better price. After trying the titan it was not that comfortable and just would n't sit right. Squats were always unstable. Decided to give the Ethos a try and glad I did. For the price, this thing is way better, padding was more comfortable, the handles are solid stainless steel, very high quality. There is a perfect amount of knurling( not to passive and not to aggressive). The chrome finish and black coating also feely extremely well made. Packed securely and shipped quickly, it arrived within a couple of days in perfect condition. It's well made and just what I needed. Two issues- one, as another reviewer commented, the bar comes with what I assume is an anti- rust coating that's a little messy to remove. It would be nice if some instructions came for that. Maybe there were and I just did n't see them. And two- the clerk who took the order told me my email address would be used only to communicate regarding the order. Now a day does n't pass without multiple emails from Dick's and they drive me nuts. I 've gone through the unsubscribe process twice to no avail.

I like this original Hex Bar much better than the bigger version because it takes up way less space with the 10 inch sleeves rather than 16 or more. The knurling is perfect and I love the 25mm grip plus the rigged sleeves so the plates do n't fall off easily when the bar is maxed out on weight. Some critics will complain that you ca n't add more than 500 pounds or so with 10 '' sleeves but unless you 're a strength athlete that weighs 250 or more I do n't see the need.

But I was hesitant to order the Body Solid bar because the reviews for the 5ft bar indicated it was covered with an oily/sticky coating that was difficult to remove. This is one of the best weight bar you can get for maximum performance. I used one of these in my early 20s and I weighed 170 pounds at 5/7 inches tall and I got to the point that I could lift 300 pounds off the floor and over my head with ease. I am now 48 and have started lifting again and after two weeks I can see huge difference in my biceps and triceps. I weigh 205 now but plan on cutting weight and I should be able to get back to the 29 inch waist I had in my 20s with the right exercise and nutrition. Great bar. The plate holders on each end of the bar are solid, instead of the two- piece screw- together type on cheaper bars. And the plate holders mount to the bar with good bearings that move smoothly during cleans. The bar weighs 45lbs with collars, but collars did not come with this bar. I 've only had the bar for a few weeks, and the other two Olympic bars I 've had I did not buy new. But so far I am happy with this bar and have no regrets. Oh, the bar did not arrive with end- caps on it to cover the assembly nuts, but those caps always seem to pop out during workouts anyway, so I did n't mind.

I 've been using this bar for several days now, and I have to say, it's a really great bar and is holding up to snatching/jerking overhead and dropping it just fine. The sleeves spin very nicely, the diameter( 28mm) is great for hook gripping with smaller hands like mine, and the knurling is differential. The knurling on the inner portion is less aggressive and gets very aggressive on the outer portion. This is a phenomenal bar, especially for the price. The only thing I would change is to add a center knurl.

I promise you wo n't find a better$ 150 bar anywhere. The diameter is IWF standard 28 mm, the weight is accurate and the knurling is satisfactory. The only place you might notice an advantage with some better bars is in the spin. Especially if you do Olympic lifts and the bar is fully rotating. I 've read some reviews that users have had rust issues, I have not in my basement. I 've loaded up to 505 on the bar and it has performed well. It is a bit stiff but I would rather an inexpensive bar be stiff than flex to much. Great value.
