I bought the blue bucket hat for a Florida kayaking trip and it was great! The cord that holds it on was totally necessary because we had wind gusts and other people's hats were blowing off. I did let my granddaughter borrow mine for awhile.

[ This is a really nice hat. Bright retro colors and retro style. Very comfortable, and does a good job keeping the sun off my head. It might have been nice if the strings were removable, in case you did n't want to wear them all the time, but I can just tuck them up inside the hat. With the cinch cord on the back, it stays on your head pretty well even without using the strings below your chin.

Hat is packable, lightweight, and had the best face and neck coverage of any I found. Also has a drawstring to keep it on. I haven ’ t used it yet but I know it will do what it ’s designed to and protect you from the sun. This is going to be my go to hat for kayaking. Since it doesn ’ t fold up, I put this terrific sun hat at the bottom of my suitcase, underneath the rest of my clothes. My husband also has this hat, and I got the same size, a large. I use this hat for both gardening and hiking. I like that it is lightweight and easy to pack. It does n't take up a lot of room and when I unroll it, it keeps shape pretty good. At first I was disappointed with the cheap rubber chin strap lock, but it works out OK.
