Im a fishing guide in Charleston SC. I only use these floats when fishing structures for sheepshead. The sensitivity the floats have a amazing. I use a 20lb fluorocarbon leader under the float with 1 to 2# 3 split shots about 8inches above a number 2/0 hook. The slide float allows me to fish shallow or deep. When my bait drags a rock the float will sit on its side. When it drops off a rock the float sits upright. The float dosent have a lot of resistance so when sheep bite its very noticeable. Highly recommend.

Slip floats are a type of fishing float that allows anglers to adjust the depth at which their bait is presented in the water. They slide along the fishing line, enabling the bait to be suspended at various depths, which is particularly useful for targeting fish that are feeding at different levels. This versatility makes slip floats a popular choice for both beginners and experienced anglers.
Slip floats are typically made from materials such as balsa wood, plastic, or foam. Balsa wood is favored for its lightweight and buoyant properties, allowing for easy casting and sensitivity to bites. Plastic and foam options are also available, providing durability and resistance to water absorption, which can enhance their longevity in various fishing conditions.
Slip floats are ideal for a variety of fishing situations, including still water, rivers, and lakes. They are particularly effective for targeting species that feed at different depths, such as panfish, trout, and bass. Anglers often use slip floats when fishing in areas with varying depths or when they want to keep their bait off the bottom to avoid snags.
Choosing the right size slip float depends on several factors, including the type of fish you are targeting, the depth of the water, and the weight of your bait. Generally, larger floats are better for deeper waters or heavier baits, while smaller floats are suitable for shallower areas and lighter presentations. It's important to match the float size to your fishing conditions for optimal performance.
Slip floats offer several advantages over fixed floats, primarily their ability to adjust depth easily. This feature allows anglers to adapt to changing conditions and target fish at various depths without needing to re-rig. Additionally, slip floats can provide more natural bait presentation, as they enable the bait to move freely in the water column, mimicking the behavior of live bait.
