I own my own Machine Shop, where I specialize in restoring old cars and trucks, and I use this knife constantly for opening boxes of parts and cutting heavy duty rubber hoses for heaters. I have yet to change blades. I have read some of these other reviews where the owners are complaining that their knives broke while they were skinning an elk, or something like that, but chances are they were abusing the knife. I love this knife! My favorite EDC. Super comfortable and an easy one handed operated folder. It's not fast to put away, but the draw is quick. Gerber just needs to make a version with better steel, like S30V would be fine. 8 years in the army and I went through 3 of these. I think the clip could be better too. But jimping is amazing and the lightweight frame is on point!

I am an avid climber and one time, back when I had LONG hair, I got my hair stuck in my belay device. After making my partner, on lead, down climb the last move so I could free my hair, I decided that it was time to carry a knife for the impromptu haircut. This is a solid and well- crafted knife, comparable in quality to knives costing many times more. As a former Army medic I can appreciate the rescue features as well. The blade is razor sharp and I have n't yet had the need to sharpen. It took a little practice but I can now easily and smoothly open with one hand, left or right. I am so impressed with this knife I just ordered the 2. 0 version to keep in one of my cars. Only caveat, I 've seen some demos showing how the safety belt cutter is n't very effective. That may, in fact, be true, but the serrated edge of the razor- sharp blade is more than up to the task. This is only a good knife for crossing border into Canada which I do a lot of and where many knives are banned and where no knife can be carried for the primary intent of self- defense. The rescue and safety features of this knife help legitimize it.

[ So far, the knife is durable, lightweight, and solid. There ’s no play in the mechanism when open or closed, reliable connection between hand and blade. The handle is G10, I believe, which is really light and( so far) strong. I ’ ve disassembled the knife and installed a Wiseman brand singlet, which makes the overall shape of the blade closer to a karambit style, which I like. The pocket clip is movable from left to right and top to bottom, which is nice, but I would prefer a deep- carry pocket clip.

I was gifted the pledge the christmas 2024. Being a creature of habit, I have always carried a case yellow handle trapper, I put the gerber in my night stand drawer. About four or weeks later I was headed out to spread bedding and fodder to the chickens and decided to take the pledge alongdue to the fact it opened easily with one hand. I still carry my yellow handle, but i also carry the gerber clipped to the inside front pocket of my blue jeans. The gerber doès all the work because it deploys with one hand, its sharp as a razer, and its tough; besides if I break it gerber warrenty has my back. This is a great knife for camping, hiking and backpacking. To me the Phillips screwdriver is more useful than the corkscrew, because I don. t take wine bottles into the wilderness. I added a pin into the hold made for it, and want to get a firefly rod to replace the toothpick. Then it will be perfect.

One of the best knives ive owned. Have put it to the test being a pool cleaner, it deals with chlorine, acid, chemicals, and its still as sharp as the day it arrived. Once its broke in its easy to open, the blade lock is great, and zero rust or divits to the blade from work. Never owned a Sog before but will definitely buy another one after this one wears out

The primary reason I always carried a Swiss army knife Tinker modal was for the blade and Phillips screwdriver. This knife is about the small length and weight but the screwdriver is WAY more functional and the blade locks( not sure why Swiss Army never figured this out).
