[ These cycling tights do exactly what they 're supposed to do. The sizing may run a touch small so you may need to size up if you 're on the cusp of sizing. I 'm 5' 2 '' 125 pounds and the small is a tiny bit more snug than I 'd like but they may stretch out over time. I use these for mountain biking and I 'd recommend them for rides 40°F and under. Great quality!

[ Love the style. These are very warm and keep me toasty on those cold days. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quality under layers... very cute!

5 shellydk
[ I could go on and on about this whole line from Smartwool. It's their best thing in a very long time and I 've been a fan for years. The material is very soft, has a great but comfortable fit. These bottoms also have a nice wide and sturdy waste band so there is no bunching or other uncomfortable nonsense in that area. These are very warm, so perfect under a shell pant or bib for alpine skiing, but I do n't think I would wear them on a tour.

5 abeck
[ I received these as a Christmas gift. I love them under my bibs for snowboarding! They ’ re tight but flexible and comfortable. They keep me warm on the mountain.

Fit is great. Very warm for Chicago winter runs, but a little bit itchy. Also I would like it to be thinner like the ones in the smartwool Tercel material. Sadly could not find those in mid rise online.

My legs will not be cold this winter. They are of good quality and very soft and warm.

5 Sydroo
Fits true to size. Keeps you warm! Relaxed fit and love the color. Makes snowboarding more enjoyable.

5 Mim1
Used these under sweats in below freezing temperatures in Quebec City sometimes needed snow pants too, other times just the two layers.

5 DreambornAnthology
Love Smartwool for days in the snow. It ’s a great base layer that I can depend on. It is super soft when you first buy it but does get scratchier with wash and wear, even with gentle cycles, mild detergent, and hang drying. I tend to wear a thin, cotton free layer underneath for better comfort and more layers. While it does offer some stretch, it is very true to size, so if you are teetering between sizes, size up. You ’ ll be more comfortable and won ’ t risk circulation compression, which will ultimately make you more cold.

5 Kpave
[ These fit so great! I ’ m plus sized and sometimes sizing can be wonky or vague but these are a dream. They are warm for sure but I can ’ t wait until The temperature dips to really put tgem to the test.

Frequently Asked Questions For Thermal Tights

Thermal tights are specially designed garments that provide insulation and warmth during cold weather activities. They are typically made from materials that trap body heat while allowing moisture to escape, keeping you dry and comfortable. These tights are ideal for layering under other clothing or for wearing alone during outdoor activities.

Thermal tights are often made from a blend of synthetic fabrics, such as polyester and nylon, which offer excellent moisture-wicking properties and durability. Some may also include natural fibers like merino wool for added warmth and comfort. The choice of material can affect the overall warmth, breathability, and stretch of the tights.

Thermal tights are versatile and can be used for a variety of activities, including running, hiking, skiing, and other outdoor sports during colder months. They provide the necessary warmth and flexibility needed for movement, making them a popular choice for athletes and outdoor enthusiasts alike. Additionally, they can be worn for casual outings in chilly weather.

When selecting thermal tights, consider factors such as the intended activity, the level of insulation required, and the fit. Look for features like moisture-wicking capabilities, breathability, and stretch for comfort. Additionally, pay attention to the thickness and warmth rating to ensure they meet your specific needs for the weather conditions you'll be facing.

Yes, thermal tights are designed to be layered under other clothing, making them an excellent base layer for cold weather. Their snug fit allows for easy layering without adding bulk, which is essential for maintaining mobility and comfort. Pairing them with other thermal or insulated garments can enhance warmth during outdoor activities.

When evaluating fit and comfort in thermal tights, look for a snug yet comfortable fit that allows for freedom of movement without being restrictive. Consider features like flatlock seams to reduce chafing and a waistband that sits comfortably without digging in. It's also important to ensure that the tights are not too tight, as this can hinder circulation and overall comfort.
