I recently built my first custom club set using the True Temper Dynamic Gold regular flex R300 shaft. I installed them on a set of Snake Eyes irons in 5- GW, with a finished length one inch longer than standard and they work great. Follow the tip trimming recommendations on the True Temper website and cut them to whatever length is right for you, the kick point will stay right on through your set. The only issue is availability. True Temper makes three versions of the `` regular flex '' they are R200, R300, and R400; each one progressively heavier in weight, which will change the swing weight when installed. The R300 is the standard weight and unfortunately it's the ONLY one available at Dicks. Overall a great purchase, I dont see myself using anything else in steel shafts as long as I play.

Tipping a golf shaft refers to the process of cutting the shaft down from the tip end to alter its flex and performance characteristics. This adjustment can help golfers achieve a better launch angle, spin rate, and overall feel during their swing. Understanding how tipping affects shaft performance is crucial for optimizing your golf clubs to match your playing style.
When you tip a golf shaft, you effectively increase its stiffness because you are removing material from the tip section. This can lead to a lower launch angle and reduced spin, which may benefit players looking for more control and accuracy. However, it's essential to consider your swing speed and style, as tipping may not be suitable for everyone.
Tipping a golf shaft can enhance accuracy by providing a stiffer feel, which may help some golfers achieve a more consistent swing. A stiffer shaft can reduce unwanted flex during the swing, leading to better control over shot direction. However, the impact on accuracy can vary based on individual swing mechanics and preferences.
Before tipping your golf shaft, consider your swing speed, playing style, and the desired ball flight characteristics. It's also important to evaluate the current performance of your clubs and whether you are looking for more control or distance. Consulting with a professional club fitter can provide valuable insights tailored to your specific needs.
The standard amount to tip a golf shaft typically ranges from half an inch to one inch, depending on the desired outcome and the specific shaft model. However, the ideal tipping length can vary based on individual preferences and swing dynamics. It's advisable to experiment with different tipping lengths or seek guidance from a professional to find the best fit for your game.
