I bought them because I previously bought the Halle pant and wanted a straight leg version in a different color( so I never have to wear another less comfortable pant to work). My only complaints are based on what I think are a few with reductions from earlier versions: I prefer my older version 's fabric, which seems a bit thicker and softer. I also think the older version might have had a double snap on the leg, which I like better too.( One on each side.) Finally, the waist tire was frayed at the end( nothing duck tape could n't fix). These are certainly not deal breakers, and I still wear these pants every week. Before I got these pants I mistakenly got the Halle II. [ I 'm glad I got the original crush pants. They have a higher content of merino than the new version. I had the grey in a L but it was a little big so I bought a pair of the black in M... there is quite a difference in sizing. M is a bit snug. Since I like the original I 'll keep the M and I also was able to order a L from another retailer that still had some. I use the M more for Yoga when I do n't want to wear leggins. [ When I first took these pants out of the package, I was a little hesitant as the material was a bit stiff. However, once I put them on I was shocked and pleasantly surprised at how much I liked them! Definitely for cooler weather( the material is heavy). Very comfortable one. High waisted. They are pleated so nicely, that they are an interesting combo of cargo pants and trousers/wide leg which I love. As for sizing, I have seen some reviews say they are small but I did not find this to be the case. For reference, I am 5' 8 and 170 and got a medium. To me they fit perfectly. The only place they are a tiny bit snug is around the thighs( I have thicker thighs in general) but if I lose, literally, 2- 3 pounds, they would be perfect. I also LOVE the length as most pants like this are too short on me but these are plenty long( so may be a lad long for a shorter person). Overall, I am so happy with these and can see wearing them a lot for the rest of the winter both for walks and to go out!

I do n't like reviews that say `` love these '' or some such, since it tells me very little. So... I am 5' 2 and weigh 152 pounds. My inseam is usually 28 inches, no more than 29. I ordered the large and they were perfect in length, landing right at my ankles with a little sag for give in the knees, and for squatting. I have a bit of a straight waist that is short- the waist band is about a 2 inch band that did NOT roll over or down and did not bind so the waist was just right. Fit perfect in the hips, and I have a butt so they stretched without gapping or sagging down in the back. I washed them in warm water, rinsed in cold and hung them up to dry. Dried quickly. They were warm without being hot, did not bunch in the crotch, and I had on jeans over them. Worked outside on the farm and stayed cozy. Went back and bought two more pairs.

`` Heavyweight '' is a little misleading. The fabric is very thin and see- through. On their own, they do n't feel very warm, but worn under jeans or other pants as intended, they function very well. I forget I 'm even wearing them under jeans, and they keep me very warm on cold mornings. A good comfortable base layer. Got the M and they fit great. I 'm usually a 6- 8 in pant size.

I first discovered these pants last year and now I own them in 4 different colours. They are so comfortable. They are the perfect fall/spring hiking pants. We live in New Brunswick where the winters can be pretty brutal, but just took a pair of thermals on underneath and even winter they have been fantastic.
