These came just in time for me to shovel my driveway. I thought the elements were on the backs of the hands so was uneasy with gripping a snow shovel, but it must have been okay. I did n't think with the elements on the palms of the hands, that my hands would stay warm. But, when I got inside and took them off, my hands were warm. They are huge( I 'm sure intended for a man's hands), but I made it work. In the long run, I 'm very happy with them. My hands always go numb from the cold below 15 degrees. I ’ ve tried top tier mittens and wool liners to no avail. With these mittens I skied all day at 10 degrees and two breaks and kept my hands warm. I used medium and low settings most of the time and still had half the battery left at the end of the day. My husband bought this for me as a gift. I ’ ve only worn them once for skiing so far( weather has been too warm this winter), but am in love already! I have Raynauld ’s syndrome which makes my hands super cold all the time. I usually put Hothands packs in my gloves to stay warm but my finger tips still get chilly enough to send me into the lodge for a bit. These heated snow gloves have warning elements that run through each finger. When I started to get cold, I turned the heating element on high for about 5 mins. After a couple of runs, I was plenty warm& turned them off all together. It wasn ’ t a super cold day( mid 40 ’s). I was outside for about 6 hours or so& probably only had the battery on for 1/2 hr total( the gloves themselves are nicely insulated). There was enough battery left to charge my phone on the drive home.

I 've always had issues with cold hands while skiing. My best pair are the 3 finger Hestra glove which until i bought these, were my go to warm gloves. Even with the Hestra gloves, my fingers would get cold below 15°. Recently we were planning a ski trip and the forcast temps were to be a high of 0° and i knew my other gloves would not be sufficient, so i decided to purchase the Action heat gloves. I was very happy, with the sub 0° temps, my hands stayed warm. With those temps, I did keep them on the high setting knowing that I had also purchased a 2nd set of batteries which I 'm glad i did.
