My foot size is 8. 5 regular. The boot size is the same but it feels `` spacious ''. Not too long or short or even wide but ample- enough to accommodate a thick sock. My advice would be that if your foot is low volume or on the small side of the size like mine, order down, if your foot is high volume, order your size, and if your foot is on the high side, order up. A size 8 might have been perfect for me but might not have been roomy enough for thick socks. It's a trade off. The boot leather is super thick but the boots were comfortable right out of the box. No break in required. So far they 're holding up well. The steel toe has not been a problem in the winter cold or summer heat. It is not a factor except when a chunk of wood slips out of my tired hands. I had to learn the need of a steel toe the hard way. I only wish Timberland attached a pull loop to the heel. They put one on their loafers but not on a 6 '' boot. Unusual. A loop would help with the on/off process. What would also help would be lace hooks in place off the top two lace holes. With lace holes the laces have to be pulled down and out to loosen them to widen the boot for removal. You ca n't just kick these boots off. Neither of the above nit picks is a deal breaker. I love these waffle stompers.

Sizing winter boots has been quite challenging. I wear a 10. 5 medium width athletic shoe/ 44. 5 cycling shoe. I tried many brands and sizes including LL Bean, KEEN, Columbia, Muck, and a few more. Boots like this can feel stiff so I prefer thicker wool socks for added cushion and insulation. An 11. 5 was snug but not too tight( like the 11) and gave me enough wiggle room in the toe box. When I finally got outdoors with them, I found them warm and comfortable walking around for more than two hours through slush and snow on trails and streets. They are quick to slip on and lace up, quick to unlace and slip off. I am very satisfied with them.

I have had these boots for 5 years. Humping through the snowy mountains of Vermont on the job. Taking them off and on tens of thousands of times in customers homes. They have gone under many houses, crawlspaces, and under porches. In knee walls and trenches. Put away so wet that my socks were soaked the next morning( step in knee high snow and any boot is gon na get wet). I 've only had to change the laces on one boot. All I ask is that my boots hold up to the abuse I put them through. I wore them untied during the summer even, and the backside of the inner heel has just started to wear through. I have had these boots for 10 years and they still look brand new! They are warm and comfortable, perfect for a snowy outing like tubing. I ’ ve noticed a lot of these reviews are negative, but it seems they are working in these boots. These are definitely more of a cute fashion boot than a work boot. I have walked miles in the deep snow and had many tubing adventures with these boots. Treat them well and they will treat you good also!

I wore these for about a week in Finland in pretty thick snow and slush – they held up great! No scuffs, no damage, no leaks. I know it's only been one week of wear, but they feel really solid. I can imagine these holding up for at least 8 seasons. They 're also SO CUTE.

I really like these boots! I was looking for something higher for our heavy Western NY snowfalls( Orchard Park!) They are the perfect height. They have a very thick tread too. I wanted them to meet my utilitarian needs first but I think they ’ re also stylish. The color is nice. It ’s sort of a stone color. That ’s better than black which shows the dirt and salt stains. I normally wear a 7. 5 in sneakers. I bought an 8 because I wanted to make sure I could wear a heavy sock or slipper sock inside my them. I ’ m very happy with the size. I think they ’ re pretty warm too.

I specifically bought these as I needed some gardening boots that would keep my feet warm as well as dry. At first look, I could n't see where the insulation was located, but after being out in the yard in the winter, I 've been amazed at how warm my feet have felt. Also, I have fairly wide feet so in getting my usual shoe size, I was worried I would n't be able to use my thicker socks, but there is just enough room for that if it's really cold out.
