I got it paired with a Lews custom pro nice setup!!

5 Randy
I love this rod for a rod under a 100 bucks in the 70 dollar range. Its got great action been throwing med size crankbait. Great square bill rod good action have n't cought any monsters but lot's of 1 to 2 and half pound bass. Very acrute when throwing. I got some higher end set ups. But got this pared with a abu garcia black max reel with 10 pound florocarbon line. I got a 150 in reel rod and line and I pick it up as much as my 350 to 450 dollar set ups and will hang with them.

Needed a little heavier crankbait rod and this thing delivered. I have a Dobyns Colt with the same specs and this one is noticeablely heavier. Threw a lipless just to feel it out in terms of deeper divers and this actually held up. Definitely woth it

Have n't even tested this rod out yet, but plan on an update. I have it paired on an Daiwa Millionaire 250S with 14lb. mono. I plan on doing a mix of Fresh/Brackish/Salt water fishing for schoolie Stripers, Lake Largemouth, and beach trips for possible Spotted Sea Trout, under slot Red Drum etc. I 've never owned an baitcaster style setup so looking forward to this being a good setup, the specs look great!

I bought the Mag Heavy to use it as a jig/frog/punching rod. BUT it has now replaced my existing med and medhvy rods. The sensitivity is significantly better than I expected.

I bought the Mag Heavy to use it as a jig/frog/punching rod. BUT it has now replaced my existing med and medhvy rods. The sensitivity is significantly better than I expected. It actually does throw that wide of a range and does it well.

It has been 1 year and 3 months since I came to the United States from Japan. I 've been lure fishing in various small lakes in Michigan since this summer. I bought this rod and was able to catch a 25in northern pike. This is my first experience because this fish does not exist in Japan. I will never forget this experience.

Frequently Asked Questions For Crankbait Rod

A crankbait rod is specifically designed for fishing with crankbaits, featuring a moderate action that allows for better casting distance and control. These rods are typically longer and more flexible, which helps in absorbing the shock of a fish strike and preventing the fish from throwing the lure. Unlike other fishing rods that may be tailored for different techniques or types of lures, crankbait rods focus on optimizing the performance of crankbaits, enhancing the angler's ability to retrieve them effectively. The materials used often provide a balance of sensitivity and strength, making them suitable for various fishing conditions.

The ideal length for a crankbait rod typically ranges from 6 to 7 feet. A rod within this range provides a good balance of casting distance and accuracy, allowing anglers to effectively cover water while maintaining control over their lure. Longer rods can enhance casting distance, while shorter rods may offer better precision and sensitivity. Ultimately, the choice may depend on personal preference and specific fishing conditions.

Crankbait rods are typically constructed from materials such as fiberglass and graphite. Fiberglass offers flexibility and durability, making it ideal for casting and retrieving crankbaits effectively. Graphite, on the other hand, provides a lightweight option with increased sensitivity, allowing anglers to feel subtle bites. Many rods may also feature composite materials that combine the benefits of both fiberglass and graphite for enhanced performance.

The action of a crankbait rod plays a crucial role in both casting and retrieval. A moderate action rod typically provides a good balance of sensitivity and flexibility, allowing for longer casts while also helping to absorb the shock of strikes. This flexibility can enhance the retrieval process by enabling the angler to maintain control over the lure's movement, ensuring it runs at the desired depth and action. Conversely, a faster action rod may offer quicker response times, which can be beneficial for precise casting and immediate hook sets.

When selecting a crankbait rod, consider the rod's length, action, and power. A longer rod typically provides better casting distance and leverage, while a moderate action allows for a more forgiving bend that helps absorb the shock of a fish strike. Additionally, a medium to medium-heavy power rating is often preferred to handle the weight of crankbaits and the strength of larger fish. Lastly, the material of the rod can influence sensitivity and durability, so look for options that balance these qualities effectively.

Yes, there are crankbait rods designed for various fishing environments. These rods can vary in length, power, and action to suit different conditions, such as freshwater lakes, rivers, or coastal areas. For instance, longer rods may be beneficial for casting distance in open water, while shorter rods can provide better control in tight spaces. Additionally, the materials used in the rod construction can affect sensitivity and durability, making them suitable for specific fishing techniques and environments.

The power rating of a crankbait rod plays a crucial role in its performance by determining the rod's ability to handle different lure weights and fish sizes. A rod with a higher power rating is stiffer and can provide more strength for casting heavier lures and battling larger fish, while a lower power rating offers more flexibility, which can enhance sensitivity and control for lighter lures. This balance allows anglers to choose a rod that best suits their fishing style and the specific conditions they encounter. Ultimately, selecting the right power rating can improve casting distance, accuracy, and overall fishing success.

Crankbait rods typically feature various grip styles, including cork, EVA foam, and rubberized materials. Cork grips are lightweight and provide a classic feel, while EVA foam offers a softer touch and better shock absorption. Rubberized grips can enhance traction, especially in wet conditions. The choice of grip can significantly impact comfort during long fishing sessions, as it affects how the rod feels in hand and how well it can be controlled.

Yes, crankbait rods can be versatile and used for other types of lures and fishing techniques. While they are specifically designed for crankbaits, their medium to medium-heavy power and moderate action can also accommodate various lures such as spinnerbaits, topwater baits, and even some soft plastics. Anglers often appreciate the flexibility of these rods, allowing them to adapt to different fishing scenarios while maintaining performance. However, it's important to consider the specific characteristics of the rod to ensure it aligns with the intended use.

When selecting a crankbait rod, consider the rod's length and power, as these factors can influence casting distance and control. In warmer seasons or when fishing in open water, a longer rod may help with longer casts, while shorter rods can provide better accuracy in tighter spaces. Additionally, the action of the rod is important; a moderate action can enhance the lure's movement, making it more effective in various water conditions. Lastly, consider the type of cover and structure in the water, as this can affect the choice of rod material and sensitivity needed for effective fishing.
