I recently found out about Nike's premium essentials line and absolutely love it! It is heavyweight cotton so it feels tough but comfortable. Feels like it will last 3x as long as a regular t- shirt. It is loose fit, so the small fits like medium. But it will shirk about 1 1/2 inches after the first wash.

This is a nice alternative that keeps you warm but comfortable and cool with sweat wicking in warmer temperatures. I have this top in olive and black. I love the side zipper pocket to keep my phone/wallet safe for hooping or any activity. I ordered a size large although i generally wear a Nike medium.
