Outstanding update. I ’ ve had multiple pairs of prior versions( incl the ones with the impossible side pockets). The fit and materials are A- 1 this time. The waistband is dynamite and the new side pockets definitely borrow from the Patagonia Striders( that ’s a good thing IMO) and work well. My only concern is the sizing in terms of whether you ’ re a small, medium or XL, whatever. I ’ m 5 ’ 9 ”, 150, 30 ” waist and I need the XS? The smalls last year in the old version were falling off my waist? I ’ m a small in every brand under the sun but need an XS in this short. It ’s odd. I worry if I need another pair that they ’ ll be out of XS like they were last year when I burned out an old pair. Fantastic short that I will buy more of, just not understanding sizing.

I love Brooks clothing! The material is incredibly light and very silky feeling. The waistband is important, and this one is great! The fit is also great. I only had one problem which was a deal breaker for me. There are no pockets, just 2 pouch like places on each side. I was not comfortable running with anything I was not comfortable losing in these pouches. I also like regular pockets if I wear these to run errands and such.

I didn ’ t think they could get better but they did it! Best new version since the Sherpa ’s 5 ’s! Great shorts!

Comfortable and functional. I don ’ t know how anyone can fit a phone in the back pocket. I ditch my phone on runs now that the new generation Garmin watches have music. But I like to have it on long runs and I hate belts. They work but hate them. Anyway- I digress- the shorts are cool and look good too!

I 've run in various Brooks shorts for years, and these may be my favorite. New design of waistband is super comfortable. Enjoy all of the pockets and shorts are extremely light.

I love these shorts! I got them specifically because of the pockets/storage capacity and design so that I can carry gels and my phone during races. I have used them for multiple long rungs already, carrying 3- 4 gels distributed between the side pockets, and my phone in the back zipper pocket. I do notice my phone bouncing a little bit during the first few minutes, but then after that it does n't bother me at all( I 'm just happy to have a pocket that my phone can fit in instead of having to use a belt on every run). The wide waistband is a little different, but I find it comfortable. The wider waistband sits up a little higher on my hips than some of my other shorts. Overall, these shorts are super comfy and excellent for carrying nutrition products on longer runs.

I 've been running in Sherpa shorts for at least a decade. I was a bit skeptical of the elastic waistband/draw string combination, but thought I 'd give it a try. Glad I did! Perfect fit( I 'm 5' 9 '' w/33 '' waist), natural feel and the back pocket is just right for my phone.

I 've gone through many different shorts, and these are by far my favorite. This is because they have streamlined but usable side pockets for GU( or whatever) and a back zipped pocket where you could securely keep a phone or keys, etc. Of course, the fit and performance are perfect( for me at least).

I have been very pleased with these shorts so far. It's surprisingly hard to find running shorts with decent pockets for modern smartphones, but the rear zip pocket on these fits my iPhone 12 perfectly and holds it with minimal bounce. There are also open mesh pockets on either side to hold gels or other small items, making these great for long runs without the need for any additional storage belt, etc. The smooth waistband is very comfortable, as is the liner, which is supportive but still light and breathable enough for warm weather running. They run true to size-- I am 5' 7 '', 160 lbs, 32 '' waist, and the size M is perfect. Although they are great as they are, just a couple of suggestions for future versions:( 1) put the drawstring on the outside so that the inside of the waistband is totally smooth, and( 2) put a zipper on at least one of the side pockets( in addition to the phone pocket) so that cash/credit card/keys/etc. can be carried more securely.

I bought these because I needed shorts with pockets for energy gels. I just completed a half marathon with them and they were super comfortable and I was able to carry all of the gels I needed plus my house keys. Perfect for long runs when you need to carry nutrition with you.
