Replacing an older TNF Goretex hard shell that held up for a very long time until the zippers failed. First impressions is that the number of pockets and their positioning is exactly the type of thing you did n't know you needed until you have it. Feels light and offers good maneuverability. Just roomy enough that layering with mid layer does n't feel bulky and stuffed. Although the armpit area is a bit snug, I have a Denali fleece so maybe the newer FutureFleece models will fit better. Let me start off by saying I am a true 6. 5, never a 6 and very super rarely a 7. I used their size chart and measuring guide and found that I fell between the 6. 5/7 so I decided to size up and I 'm glad I did. I have just enough room around my toe in the box, and my heel has just enough space to move until they really get soft and cozy. I also have bunionettes, and sizing up with a regular width is definitely giving them some room. They are very comfortable on my feet. I purchased the black, and I am very pleased with how beautiful these boots are. Much prettier in person than the picture. I decided to buy a new pair of winter boots since my previous pair( from a different brand) kept giving me blisters. One of my professors used to be a Timberland exec and he always raved about the quality of the shoes, so I decided to try them out. I ordered 2 different styles of winter boots, each in 2 sizes. I did n't love the roll- top boots, so those promptly got returned. I ended up keeping the size 9 of the 6 '' waterproof-- the boots had a clean look and the leather is well sewn and finished, I 've worn them to work and they do n't look out of place with my button- up shirt and slacks. The boots feel a little heavy while wearing them, but honestly I prefer that since they feel more durable and rugged. I 've since worn the boots both with and without thick winter socks and had no problems. They were comfortable from Day 1 and have n't given me blisters. My biggest gripe is that the shoelaces are too short- even when I lace the boots as tightly as possible, I am left with maybe 3- 4 '' of lace to tie with. The 6 '' roll- top boots I returned had longer laces than these despite having a similar style, so this was a disappointment.

They have a relief cut into the pocket to hang a tape measure on either side. The front of the bib pockets are much more usable now, especially with the large zip pocket. This jacket has ended all desire to purchase anything else. Great quality and build. It ’s kept me warm and dry on chilly pow days and the vents keep me cool on the sunnier days. The oversized hood goes over my helmet and keeps me very cozy. Easily the best jacket I ’ ve invested in. It is a little big but that does allow me to layer comfortably while still maintaining mobility. I ’ d prefer this over a tighter fit and baggy is steezier anyway. If anything, I would prefer zippered internal pockets but that ’s just me being nit picky.

Probably my favourite fleece. I own two. My first in dark olive is about 5 years old stood up well through outdoors work and chores got a bit bobbled but I gave it a shave not long ago and it looks as good as new. Second is a Navy one bout a year old I save for best. No bobbling or damage looks great both wash well and have good warmth. I Keep checking back for a black one but to no avail.

[ Purchased this after my favorite KUHL jacket of a similar design gave it up…pilled, zippers tore, etc. Anyway, bought the Fjallraven a size smaller to be more form fitting and as a warm solo in just cool weather and under layer when cold. I ’ m 5 ’ 11 ” and 185. This jacket is now my favorite. Tighter weave, no pilling expected, warmer and a great fit. Yeh, the zippers aren ’ t great but they won ’ t snag due to they are protected with flaps(?). Plus there are cinches in the side pockets. Not sure how they work but we ’ ll see.

Used these gloves for 1 day between 14 and 28 deg F with windgusts and snow machines on making icy and windy conditions for a much lower feels like temp. First off, the GoreTex in these gloves holds up to its reputation, the ice/snow from the snow machines stuck to everything and ev eventually would melt but my gloves on the inside didnt feel wet at all even once. Wore these without the liner and they are comfortable, but not that warm. My hands were cold but not super uncomfortably cold by lunch without the liner in. Put the liner in after going back out and it made a world of difference. My hands stayed warm the rest of the day even after the sun went down and temperature dropped significantly. After a full day of use on the slopes carrying ski poles most of the time, there is no sign of any use on these gloves and i am hopeful they keep holding up for me. They were fairly expensive at full price, but seem to be worth it so far.

I have used these for the last 3 snow shoveling events and they are great. They came with glove liners which, although not easy to get on, kept my hands warm on a day with below zero windchills. I have also used them without the liners on days that were somewhat warmer and they still kept my hands warm and dry. They are flexible enough to securely grip a shovel or a snow brush without any problem.

This is a beautiful and well designed layer, but I can not handle the chest zip pocket.( other athletic brands have been putting these on everything this year too). Love the side zip pockets for hands or items one needs to carry, the fabric is stretchy and really nice. Great length, it can stretch to cover you bum or sit higher and still look great. well designed as usually Salomon! I have no doubt it would perform fantastically. I still gave it 5 stars, even though I returned it, I must be alone in hating the chest pockets.

This is my go to layer for hiking and for kayak camping trips, and general traveling when you need a warm but not ultrawarm lightweight layer. I have used it under an ultralight down jacket kayak camping in Arizona in the winter and have been quite comfortable. I have used it for hiking in the high country in the shoulder seasons when it is cold to cool in the AM. It is amazing how warm it keeps you when active. It is not a heavy warm layer if sitting out in the cold but it is perfect for my uses! I need to buy another one!!
