Reviewing this from the POV of an end user& tech fabric geek. Love the materials of the MH AirMesh. Already have the hoody; just bought the crew. Agree w/ those who say it's very warm when at standstill or w/ a wind layer over top, yet while moving or with wind and no wind layer it's like being naked. To me that says the fabric is functioning precisely how a base layer shoulder. Only con is hypothetical: delicate fabric. I 've had no issues with snags, pilling, abrasion, etc. But I would n't be surprised were I to, given the softness of the fibers and the openness of the fabric they 're arranged into. Cut/fit are unremarkable w/ exception of the somewhat high neck hole and the different accent fabric used there. Packs tiny, resilient fibers bounce back into shape immediately. Most comparable to the Patagonia Cap Air wool base layer, minus the itchiness/roughness and the ultra premium price point. Also, like Polartec Power Stretch pro, but much lighter and more airy fabric, fwiw.

In the first image, it is very light and breathable, but the fibers inside seem to be easily lost, and there are some fibers in the hand after a little scratch. I am 167cm tall and my bust is 98cm, so I wear a size M which is very comfortable. I bought 2 at the same time, for me it should be good for sweating a lot without losing warmth. I love Polartec Powerstretch for a wide range of activities, and have used it for over 20 years in pieces from most of the major outdoor manufacturers. MH's design is the best I 've found, and I hope they do n't change and will continue to offer this piece indefinitely, just in more colors. First impression is that it ’s very light, very warm for its weight, and breaths very well. If weight is important to you, this is a must get. It ’s essentially the jacket insulation without the jacket, so if you want wind protection just add a wind breaker. For some reason I was expecting it to have some stretch to it, but it doesn ’ t really, which is fine once you know to expect it. The outer material doesn ’ t feel soft, but the inner brushed material does. Overall a fan of the material, curious if they could add some stretch though, or maybe that would compromise the fiber insulating structure? Other request would be to do a version with no large branding, I don ’ t mind large branding on a jacket, but having it on a shirt or a base layer is less desirable. Would recommend.

[ I bought this as a mid layer, and occasional outer for moderate temps. Found myself wearing this all the time, as a mid layer with temps in the 20s, as an outer with temps around 50. Hard to see in pictures but the inner lining is super soft almost fleece, so provides similar warmth as a wool sweater( thinner of course), and the design of the outer material allows for breathability.
