As someone who trains/plays outdoors all year( in Chicago where that can mean sub- zero, freezing rain, etc) it's great to find a shirt that genuinely keeps me warm and comfortable w/o feeling like the Michelin man. And I 'm often cold, so that's no easy feat! Two tips for UA: thumbholes! These do n't work on any ua top I 've purchased. Arms are the right length but too short for thumb holes. If you use them they push into the webbing of your thumb or pull at your shoulder or both. And I 'm pretty small( 5' 4 '') def do n't have the wingspan of an eagle. Easy fix, guys 2nd request: colors. I wear these shirts stand alone for work as an exercise therapist. A few colors besides black would help. Thanks for a great product!

[ For reference, I purchased a Medium. I ’ m 5 ’ 4 ”, 128 pounds, pear shaped, so, smaller on top, curvier on bottom. I got the black which is opaque. I wear this baselayer weight for cross country skiing when it ’s above 30 degrees or so. Smartwool varies in size for me, these are not extremely fitted like some of the 1/4 zips so go with your normal size.

I have been hiking, backpacking, and traveling with them and they have withstood the test of time. They are comfortable alone or as under layer. I additionally regularly wear it as a mid layer with a smartwool tank below. I truly love these shirts. If it helps, I wear an XS and am 5 ’ 2 ’ ’ and 120- 130lbs depending on the year.

This shirt is fantastic. It ’s basically just a much needed upgrade version of the 1/2 zip elements. What I mean by that is the material is soft and comfortable and stretchy. The shirt also has a mesh ’s area running on the bottom of the arm that goes along the whole sleeve which is nice to help with cooling off. Also it seems to be lighter than the elements which helps it be a better choice to wear on warmer days. Hope these stick around and get more colors. I definitely recommend these especially if you were a fan of the 1/2 zip elements.
