I bought these in white in XL and then in black in L. I like pants loose at the waist and need a long rise. I also got the short length, which sit at my instep( 5' 4 ''). The black ones in the L fit better as to the rise and volume of the legs, but I prefer the looser waist on the XL. I wish designers would give up the hourglass myth of women's bodies: If one needs a L for the hips, one probably does not have a 32 '' waist. The drawstring makes these wearable. Both are comfortable, though, and very light. So I will probably wear the black ones out more, and keep wearing the white ones around the house. Very comfortable style and fabric. I find myself wearing these most days in the Florida warm temps. Very nicely made, as well. I marked `` runs small '' because the elastic at the waist, IMO, should be about 2 inches larger. I ’ m 5 ’ 4 ” and 120 lbs, and the XS fits really well. The waistband is a bit snug going over the hips, but once it ’s on, it feels firm and supportive, which I like. The best way to describe the fabric is to compare it to the Athleta brand I also wear. The Athleta brand has a buttery soft feel, a bit slick, thinner feeling fabric, and I do love them. By comparison, the Calia fabric for this legging has a slightly course, thicker feel, making it a bit warmer with a more substantial feel, which I also love. And when I say “ course ”, I should clarify that it is still a very soft fabric and you won ’ t be disappointed. Both are great in their own way, and I wear either depending on what I ’ m doing.

I would suggest sizing down, based on the size chart I needed a 2X, but I tried on the XL in store and they have PLENTY of room. One of my preferences is it contains cotton, not 100% polyester.( Thanks UA for offering cotton content products.) I 'm not sure why I selected large. Maybe, I was thinking I will be able to fit into these someday. Turned out I did n't need to wait. I was very surprised they fit me. XL would be oversized. As for length, I would say at the end of the legs the slack is about an inch. I am 4'11 '' and have been told I have short legs. The waistline comes up to my navel. The inseam reaches me just right. Now, once I drop extra body fat around my waistline, then, these would fit perfectly. Going to get another pair in a smaller size. I am that optimistic.
