It actually feels cooler than the REI Sahara hoodie by 2- 3C, even though they 're both the same weight. I think this shirt has better thermal conductivity. It also absorbs sweat faster which helps increase evaporation. You can check by dunking both shirts into a tub of water. I felt much more comfortable with this in 30- 40C temperatures with high humidity. I can feel the difference under a helmet. It's more stretchy, and greater horizontally compared to vertically so you have to be careful not to stretch it too far in order to keep it's UPF protection so I wear a loose fitting size. The fabric is n't as durable as the REI Sahara, as it has more pilling after a few months of wearing 2- 3 days a week. The wrists seem to be more stained. It has more facial coverage along the neck and side cheeks near the ear because it has a smaller opening for the face. It's a round opening so it sits fairly symmetrical compared to the REI Sahara which has an overlapping stitch at the neck that causes the hood to twist to one side. It does n't have a drawstring but since the opening is smaller, the wind does n't really blow it off, unlike the REI Sahara which needs it's drawstring to be cinched to resist the wind. The only benefit of the REI Sahara is possibly greater sun protection from the side rear angle due to how the hood drapes, but less protection from the side front angle; cheaper price; higher durability.

I wear the echo line of active wear when I 'm working out of fishing. The level of cool I get from wearing the ActiveIce appearal is unlike anything I 've tried before. It keeps me cool and I 'm not sweating as much as I do with the echo fabric. It does come with the trade off of being a bit heavier than the echo and not as breathable feeling since it's a thicker fabric. I will choose to wear the echo fabric when it's a cooler day doing a lot of activity and the ActiveIce fabric when it's really sunny and warm.

I love it! I am really specific about sun shirts because I live and work on boats and wear a sun shirt most days. Full disclosure: I have tried the Crater Lake and Sunshadow before this and really did not like them. The Crater Lake is 1) kind of soft and does n't breath as well as this one and 2) had sloppy sewing so the sleeve hem unravelled after a couple months of wear. The Sunshadow was low stretch and super restricting to wear and the fabric stained really easily. This* Sunblocker* is amazing. The fabric is super quick drying but not scratchy, the sewing is really neat, and the fabric is stretchy and not restrictive. I sized up from S to M and am glad I did. I personally love the crop. It still protects my whole back, even when I bend over, but is n't too long. Overall, I 'm really happy with it!

I 've used this jacket on longer runs in the temp ranges of 5° to 25° and it performs really well. No issues using it woth just a tee underneath. I like the material layout because it puts insulation where you need it. It has solid wind protection as well. I could see this piece used for hiking as well. I live at elevation, where weather conditions can change fast( and wind is common). I 've worn this jacket in a variety of conditions so far: rain/snow mix at 40 degrees,< sub- freezing temps and sunny, dark and 32 degrees. It's kept me warm without overheating, blocked the wind, and kept me dry during light/moderate precipitation. It's lightweight and packs up small, and is my new fav running item! It feels like it might run just a tad bit small in my opinion, so if you want a thicker layer under it, I might suggest sizing up.

I winter hike a lot in the white mountains of New Hampshire and I love this layer! It's perfect for ascents over my 300 weight wool shirt. I rarely sweat in it or need more than those 2 layers. If I do sweat it evaporates very quickly. It's very thin and lightweight however I barely need an additional layer in higher elevations. I have worn this in temps ranging from 10- 30 degrees F. It's amazing. I love the windbreaker aspect of it bc it either surprise snows or you brush up against trees while hiking and do n't get wet. You stay so warm with the fleece lining. Still ca n't believe how thin it is.

For me, it's the perfect sun hoody. I wanted something super light for hiking in the sun and just a little sun protection to prevent me from burning, because I still want the vitamin D. This barely weighs anything and I find it surprisingly durable for what it is. It's not tough by any mean, but I was worried it would deteriorate after a few uses. I have two minor complaints: 1. is that it's quite expensive for how simple it is. 2. The t- shirt version fit differently than this version, it was quite tight around the chest, I was expecting the same fit. The t- shirt version is great for working out in the gym on a hot day where they still insist you wear a shirt.

This jacket is a light, packable, and comfortable. Perfect for warm weather adventures that just need a little extra layer to block the wind. It packs down into a small pouch that can be tossed in your pack or beach bag for that `` ace in the hole '' when needed. Unlike many competing brands, this jacket is made of a very soft material and does not have the crinkle feeling like you are putting on a trash bag. Also unique to this jacket compared to it's competitor's is that it has front handwarmer pockets as well as a chest pocket( most packable options do not). The pockets in my opinion bring it from just being a quick grab backup plan to an intentionally worn and functional jacket. The chest pocket is a great spot to quickly store your cell phone and the front hand pockets give you that sensation like you just put on your favorite hoodie sweatshirt. I have worn it while hiking mountains during the summer in Maine to hanging out on the beach in Costa Rica on a windy day.

This jacket is extremely comfortable. I 'm 5' 6 '' with broad shoulders and a more or less triangular shape( not a body builder by any stretch, though). The medium fits me perfectly with room to layer. I expect it's long enough for taller people, too. It breaths well, provides good wind protection, and a small amount of protection from precipitation. The first time I tried running in this jacket, the hood flopped annoyingly into my field of view. I have since discovered that you can just fold the brim back once or twice to tighten up the fit. This may look a little wonky, but it works beautifully, and it's the only option, since there's no drawstring adjustment on the hood. It's very nice to have hand- warmer pockets, which many wind shells omit.

I 'm so happy with this windbreaker! It's super lightweight but really does cut down on the wind. The fit is very flattering. And more importantly, it has hand pockets! That may not seem like a big deal, but I 've been disappointed with numerous other lightweight windbreakers on the market that do n't have hand pockets. The pockets are zippered too. Was looking for a high- visibility running jacket similar to the Patagonia Houdini Air( wind resistance+ breathability). I have both the regular Houdini( size L) and Houdini Air( M). Keeping this in M. FIT: I 'm 5' 1, 150 lbs, 34DD, round belly. With a Smartwool 250 baselayer or a thin long- sleeved cotton t, fit is close to the body, but not tight( Houdinis run much slimmer); pretty forgiving of my belly:) Perfect length for me, falling around mid- hip; Houdinis are longer, falling below my butt. FEEL/FUNCTION: I 've worn this for multiple runs( incl. light rain, strong wind). This feels somewhere in- between the Houdinis in terms of wind- blocking and breathability. V. light rain beaded on the surface of the jacket, but left a mark when smushed into the fabric. Material is a matte, slightly stretchy, more fabric- y( vs. plastic- y) material- like a slightly thicker/heavier Air. Hood fits over thick pony- tail securely when fully zipped, and stays in strong wind. Doubles as a running and casual jacket better than the Houdinis due to a more forgiving fit around the mid- section( for looser- fitting street clothes), shorter length( more flattering for my short stature), and zippered side pockets. Packs down small enough for an upcoming 2. 5 week trip to Europe( 24L bag). COLOR: Azalea appears neon coral in the pictures, which is what originally attracted me. Unfortunately, it actually is not neon at all, and is more like a salmon pink that leans more pink than orange. It is slightly see- through. LOVE the green( Grove) colorway- something about the color+ matte fabric texture+ matching zippers makes it look SO smooth and rich and clean. This jacket is exactly what I needed for Colorado's winter. Keeps me very warm without any layering though with layering warmth will obviously be increased. I would totally recommend if you are into snow sports or like being toasty during winter. Being able to pack this jacket up is another plus for me so it's always convenient to either leave in the drawer when stowed or have it hung up on the coat rack. This is the jacket I will reach for when the temps drop around the 30s.

I purchased this hoodie for sun protection on a recent 9- day backpacking trip. I bought the light grey colour because I thought it could double as bug protection, since the mosquitoes were horrendous. I really liked how feather- light it was, it dried fast and the hood was great when the bugs were fierce. Furthermore, all the bug/blood/sweat stains cleaned up nicely after the trip and it looks good as new! As for durability and wind- proofness, I will bring it on my next two canoe trips this July and report back:)

Quite happy with this version of the Astroman! Still the same great sun protection and durability but the material seems lighter/faster drying somehow. Not sure how they managed that without sacrificing durability but so far it's held up beautifully! I 'm a sweaty hiker and it's pretty amazing how little sweat this shows and how fast it dries. This lil hoody is also extremely packable- have taken it on quite a few birding/hiking trips and long days bike- packing. I plan to take it to AZ this weekend for a friend's bday trip to really put it to the test( I 've been using it in Idaho thus far). Also- LOVE this pink color. I bought a Small and Medium and I 'm keeping the Medium- I 'm 5' 4 '' and about 140- 150lbs( 30 '' waist and 40 '' low hip, aka most of my weight is in my booty/thighs). The small fit fine, but I prefer a looser fit for layering and breathability:) And because this is a sun shirt, looser fit is best for the fabric to keep out sun rays, anyways. The ONLY thing I would change about this: please move the pocket to the chest or somewhere more useful. It's on the right hip and goes backwards which is strange and not natural at all, I really dislike it. I 'd prefer it be on the chest( like the men's version) or even still on the hip but a zippered drop pocket( like the Freewheel Hoodie).

Simply the best jacket. Super light weight, I never have to worry about sacrificing weight for comfort. I just throw it in my bag now and do n't even think about it. It washes quite well too, as I run it through the ringer at work and camping. The down has not had a problem after about 45 washes with wool balls on regular temps. It's not water proof, but for light rains I have not had to throw on a rain jacket and have not felt that it was damp after.
