After searching through local sports stores, at the rink, big box stores and websites, we finally chose the Chicago boys rink skates for our 4 and 1/2 year old grandson. They are easy to get on and off, support his ankles, and glide smoothly around the basement floor. They are also suited for the indoor roller rink, which he will be going to soon for a party. He uses them to play roller hockey. Although the shoe is a vinyl, it looks and feels almost like leather-- too bad they still are n't made with leather. We purchased them two sizes bigger than he wears for growth. He wears long sports socks over his regular socks, and that works fine. I would recommend these skates over others that we found at big box stores.

So far so great! Many reviews I read here and at other stores suggested replacing the wheels immediately. I have found them to be in terrific working order and have n't seen the need to replace anything just yet. Very comfortable, perfect fit/size and I would suggest wearing them with thicker socks especially until you have broken them in and stretched them out a bit. Very happy with my purchase online!

I am very pleased with the skates so far. I 've gone skating several times in them and can say that they are far more comfortable and fun to skate in than the rental skates. The boot was very comfortable and roomy. This was my first pair of traditional roller skates so I can not really compare them to other brands or models. I have owned several pairs of roller blades in the past, and I think these skates are far better for traditional, indoor roller skating. Overall I am very satisfied with the skates given their price.

It amazes me how much better you can skate owning your own pair of skates rather then renting them at the roller rink. My Grandsons skating improved 100% within one night of skating with these new skates. You figure the average rate to rent skates is about 4. 50 per night. I choose this skate because I am not a white shoe fan and wanted to the black ones. So for women if you choose this skate and have a wide foot I would buy in the size you are. I am a size 7 1/2 and purchased a size 7 men's. These feel and fit great even with thick socks on. Use the charts given as a guide. However, I purchase a different Chicago skate in a size 6 and could n't get it on my foot so the various types of skates matter when selecting a size for a woman. I am glad I ordered these from Dick's the last pair cost me to have them shipped and to ship them back, just beware.
