[ My wife and I wanted some sort of shelter for car camping that we could cook under. Most tarps are larger than what we need, but this is perfect. Setup is a breeze using the three poles. There are various options for attaching the front to your vehicle. Two stakes allow for attaching the rear. We set it up with our Rav4 hatch open and have no problems opening/closing the hatch with the shelter in place. There's lots of space underneath for cooking and hanging out. One could easily fit four camp chairs under this if needed. We 've only used it twice, but experienced torrential downpours on both occasions and remained perfectly dry sitting underneath it and chilling out. One of the best shelter investments I 've made in the last 45 years.

Our young family loves a day at the beach and this sun shelter is the ultimate homebase! The open floor allows the kids to play in the sand while still in the shade and then we can zip it up to keep our valuables somewhat safe when it's time to go play in the water. We have easily hosted six seated adults plus several kids sitting on the sand for lunch. [ This was actually a purchase my brother made( I already have the same setup) we both think it ’s fantastic for a luxury campout in your hammock. Of course it ’s a little extra to carry around but it ’s car camp intended. I ’ ve started recently using mine as a tent for me and my 4 year old. Sizable enough for one person to sleep underneath the hammock child or adult. Had an average sized male use the bottom section a few weeks ago. I personally bought an extra footprint for shoes and pack to be outside the tent especially in this scenario( also adds an additional layer of water protection/warmth in colder wetter month for the sleeper underneath)

[ Bought this for my balcony as we have issues with hornets on our roof. Have had it set up full- time for about a month and love it! With no way to stake it down so I did have to add some weights inside to keep it secure. There is a lot of floor space for belongs. The tent could be a bit taller as I hit my head on the top and I 'm only 5' 1. Could be a bit wider as well for those that like a more diagonal lay. But all in all I 'm very happy with it. Even my cat likes that he can officially be outside.

Had the Storm Break 3 years so far, and maybe a couple/few dozen uses. At half the price of the similarly featured tents from the pro competition, it's an impressive tent IMO. It's a couple pounds heavier, but that has very little effect in my application( mostly motorcycle camping). I 've had zero problems with poles, zippers, stitching, fabric, or other parts/details. I 'm relatively careful and use common sense in setup and breakdown of the tent. I use a decent ground cloth to protect the floor and avoid exposure to sharp sticks and rock etc. Also avoid over tensioning the loops and holding points when staking and setting up guylines. I 'm careful with zippers and do n't force them or zip/unzip carelessly or super fast. In my limited experience, the zippers have been excellent. The vestibule flap zippers can be a bit fussy, and I simply use a finger to `` lead '' the zipper- pull path; this prevents the overlap fabric from getting caught in the pull. I 've used it in light rain and moderately windy conditions, but not in extreme weather. It has performed and held up just fine. Having read some of the negative reviews, I do n't understand how poles can just `` break '' or bend into some strange wavy deformed condition that some have claimed- that's odd IMO, and makes me wonder if those individuals are n't revealing the entire story/truth or maybe were careless? Setup is quick and pretty simple, and is doable in the dark if you 're familiar with the process and the tent. I really like the overall design and features: roomy, vestibules, inside mesh pockets in all 4 corners, interior hanger loops, the fly- great tent in my experience!

I 've had my dog in it with my( 110lbs). and spent probably 50 nights in it since i bought it a couple of years ago. I have n't used this at the beach or in high winds yet, so I ca n't comment on its durability in those conditions. I 've used it in moderately winter conditions though( 15 mph or so) without issue. I spend an enormous amount of time at my kids' outdoor sports events, especially soccer where there is no shade. This umbrella is perfect for that. Two folding chairs will fit under this even without the ground stake pole attached. Just open it like an umbrella and throw it on the ground and it's ready to go. But if there is wind, you 'll want to use the included anchors. It's also very light for the long walks to the field.

This is my third one- push tent. I issue it regularly for my preschool. I take it out in the morning when we have snack, and put it back right when we ’ re done. The one I currently have has lasted me 2 years! The one- push is not meant to be out in wind or rain. It is not a heavy duty frame. I learned the hard way when one day I forgot to put it away. The marketplace is sturdier and can be left up longer, but needs two people to set up. I love the one- push for camping and heading to the beach. It ’s super light and the roller bag makes it easy to transport. Shelter Logic is the best shade company hands down. I own several shapes and sizes since our property is large and hot! Do you have fond family memories of fighting over tent assembly? Not anymore! I ’ ve put it up three times( 43F) with my son( 6) in our backyard. The first time took the longest obviously due to learning parts, reading instructions etc. 2nd& 3rd time literally took 5 minutes. The first two times I took it down before rain, but this last time I figured what the heck? Let ’s find out what this thing is made of. It ’s been rainy& extremely windy all day and she ’s dry inside and in place( and truthfully I don ’ t have all ties done). I ’ ve never enjoyed a tent more& am excited to know we can go “ real ” camping and stay high and dry even during rough weather. One note- I did also have a clip break like the person who rated this tent 1 star for that reason but didn ’ t find it to be a big deal at all to tie it another way. Half of the enjoyment of camping and being outside is relying on creativity and ingenuity. I ’ m also betting Coleman would put a clip in the mail if it did bother me. Very minor issue for this very glorious tent. Do not hesitate to buy. [ Was looking for a car camping tent, larger and more comfortable than the backpacking tent I 've had for ages. The DogHouse would sleep 2 very comfortably, you could sleep 4 if you do n't mind being a sardine. Steep sided walls gives the tent a very spacious feel. I could erect and take down the tent solo, but did struggle a bit the first time I pitched the tent to insert the tent pole into the final grommet. Also took me a while to figure out how to get the horizontal top pole out of the snap when breaking the tent down. Overall, the tent erected pretty quickly and easily in subsequent uses after the fabric stretched out a bit. Good ventilation, beefy stakes, seems to be a strong, stable tent, certainly fine for summer camping, probably 3 season. Worst conditions I 've been in are moderate wind and rain overnight, and the tent shed water no problem. I 'm assuming the fabric has a DWR coating, and it's unclear how long the waterproofing would last. I did not buy the ridiculously expensive footprint, just used a tarp close to the correct size and that worked fine. Tent material did catch in the zipper when zipping open or close the door. I wonder if anyone has solved this though.

The Reluctant Camper
We have used this tent for a couple of years now and still love it. Once we got the hang of it, set up was much easier. We place a tarp underneath to protect the floor, as well as some plastic sheeting on top of the flooring. I think this will increase the life of the flooring. We 've weathered some big storms and have remained leak proof. We are able to fit 3 cots in the main area, and two slim twin sized blow up mattresses in the bed of our van, thus we can sleep 5 fairly comfortably. This was an excellent start- up tent for new campers.

Set up& tear down are simple& intuitive and take only about 20 min. if you take your time. The tent itself is very spacious and easy to connect to the vehicle. It fits our vintage station wagon very nicely. Quality of workmanship and materials appears to be a little better than average, but not rugged. After unfolding the tent the second time we did notice some marring on one of the screens, apparently from the plastic pole sockets. Be sure to use the protective bags that go over these hard plastic pieces before folding for storage. Also while folding, I reached for a corner on the screen room& got only the tarp- like edging that borders the bottom seam& it tore away at the edge a little. Again, not really the fault of the manufacturer, just another area where you need to be carful when setting up& tearing down. To sum up, it is a great product, well designed and easy to use, but its not fool proof.

Bought this tent a long time ago, about fourteen years. Has held up great for that time. Ten min. set up time with two people. Hooked this tent to the back of my truck that has a cap. Worked great as a second room. I use the truck as a bedroom. Sleeve zips off for a third door option if using the tent alone. The only problem was when it rained one time and a pool formed between the cap and the tent on the sleeve. If it was on the right car maybe this would n't happen. The other thing that should be done to make set up easier is to mark the center of each tent pole. This is to mark the apex of the tent to tie the roof ties to. You will see what I mean when you set up. Would I buy this tent again? Yes. And I have never put any kind of waterproofer or seam sealer on and never had a leak.

I used the tent for the first time this past weekend and thought it was great!! My wife even enjoyed camping and I was n't sure that was possible. I heard from reviews that people said that it was hard to set up, but me and my friend set it up for the first time in the dark and only took us 10 minutes, very simple. They even have a video that shows you how to set it up, I would advise watching it first if you are unsure. Others said that it wouldnt fit back in the bag that it comes with, but again, I had no problem with it at all. The only cons were the tent pegs that came with it. They had no point at the end and bent everytime you hammered them in. I went to REI and bought some titanium tent pegs and problem was solved. The only other con was that when using the zippers, they sometimes catch the overflap fabric. Not sure how to fix it yet, but not a big concern. The tent is big and very roomy. I 'm 6' 5 '' and could walk around the tent with no problem. I have a 2004 Toyota 4Runner and the fit was perfect. Great tent, cant wait to use it again!

Love the idea of attaching this tent to my SUV. My wife and I have spent many a nights stacking stuff form the back into the front seats to make room for us in the back. This tent arrived and we headed out to go camping, first stop Holter Lake Montana, fee for camping sights vehicles on pavement tents on grass, you can imagine that we could not drive stakes into the ground when half would have to go through pavement. Headed out of Holter to camp at the Bridge where the access road to Holter meets up with the river at wolf creek canyon. Pitched the tent, pole, stakes everything and lit the barbeque and settle down for the night. Then the wind came and tent blew away. Lesson learned point the vehicle into the wind if known or possible( keep in mind, Eastern Montana is some of the windiest area in the United States. Packed up and headed home in the middle of the night. Two days later headed out to Yogo Creek Montana, found a remote site and set up camp, some wind but it was steady and we pointed vehicle into the wind. Everything else went off without a hitch, beautiful clear creek, camp fire and tent did fine in the 10 to 12 mph wind gust. One small problem, the straps that attach to the tent and come over the top of the vehicle and attach under the hood. When the wind blows is raddles those straps and makes a noise like a semi using air brakes. I will be going to the dollar store and buying some cheap pool noodles, slicing them half way and attaching them over those straps to stop this in the future. Over all glad I bought the tent, roomy and pretty easy to set up and break down.

I used this tent for the first time in the Smokey Mountains this summer( summer '24) and a strong thunderstorm hit us for about 16 hours. There were four other people with different tents... all had water that permeated except for my Stormbreak( I guess you could say it really did Break the Storm- sorry of the pun). The tent cover provides a good amount of cover around the tent and is supported off the tent keeping water from coming through where items may be touching the wall. Additionally, the floor of the tent comes up probably 6- 8 '' which helped keep the flowing water around my tent OUT( Most of the other tents in our group got water in them from water flowing around their tent vs the rainfall itself). Two of the other guys in our group ended up buying my tent after they saw how well it held up. I would 100% recommend this tent to anyone.

I bought this one specifically for the reinforced braces in the middle and it did n't bow in once even during a rain storm in the mountain of Southern CO. The vented top was perfect for the wind, which was n't super strong, but was moving the top quite a bit! Really liked the idea of closing and opening these vents. Even had one side closed& the other open during the rain so it would n't come in us while we were cooking! Also bought this because of parts replacements, even thought I have n't needed it, very nice to know that it's available! The issue we had when putting it up, was a screw in the inside leg at the bottom was n't put in straight and it was catching the outer leg from extending. In step 3 of the instructions, Figure D was impossible to do! Had to have 2 people work at this to get it to click!

I 've used this tent for backcountry camping, hunting, using it as my tent while working wildfire in Alberta. I 've had my dog in it with my( 110lbs). and spent probably 50 nights in it since i bought it a couple of years ago. Nothing has broken on it, its still waterproof, it packs well into my backpacking bag, it was relatively cheap. Really nothing i can complain about. Nice job North Face

Bought the storm break 2 years ago when a local shop was shutting down on sale. And even if I did n't get it on sale I would buy it again in a heart beat. I have probably about 130+ nights in this bad boy and it still runs as flawless as can be. Only thing I have had to do to it is patch some holes that showed up on the bottom on a couple trips where I forgot my foot print and setup location was less than ideal.( Hunting trips in the mountains in BC) probably my favourite thing about this tent, is as the name says, storm break is its ability to stand strong in the wind. I have had this bad boy set up in some less than ideal locations, in less than ideal conditions and when all the lines are out, and the wind is howling, the tent barely wiggles. I 've been beside some hunting partners and heard their tent collapse and the wind just sailed on over the north face storm break. Zippers still work as good as the day I purchased it, fly is still nice and water tight. However I will say, when you have the fly sinched down and are spending lots of hours in the tent it does condensate inside the fly, wich is normal for every tent I have ever used, but if you 're able to open up the vestibule doors for a couple hours during the day the screen on the tent itself lets a lot of air through to dry it all up before bed again. 10/10 love this tent.

I am a tree planter in interior BC and basically lived in the stormbreak 2 for 4 months. I Stayed completely dry the entire duration of the season, as well as having no issues with wind. By the end of the season there was a slight bend in one of the poles but it was still very functional. The fly made it very easy to store a large bag( hockey bag) outside which also never got wet.

Exactly as the picture shows. We love the vestibule. Will comfortably fit our queen air matress and twin air matress. We have n't used it yet, but we set it up to spray with a waterproofing sealant.
