[ I just purchased this in the 9x9. Have used the 12x12 and the 16x16 for a number of years. They ’ ve changed the color a couple of time but features are unchanged in the time I ’ ve been using them. Square shape is only way to go. Kudos for configuring this way. So many tarps are rectangular. For a haystack, sure. Fine. For a shelter, the square has far more setup options. There ’s heavy tieouts on the four corners and lighter ones along the edges. Well spaced. A little stretch to keep it taught.. important in rain. I don ’ t know if they market this as a rain shelter but that ’s all I use it for. The big one if camping next to a car, the 12x12 for rafting. This 9x9 for backpacking. Two lbs may seem like quit a bit to pack for a tarp but covered area is pretty great. And large enough to configure in some version of a ‘ storm ’ mode if conditions warrant. I have a HMG DCF tarp. It ’s 8. 5x8. 5 with no stretch. Definitely harder to get a taught pitch. It ’s light as a feather but that extra half foot per side is more than it sounds on this Kelly. 12% more covered area even though only 6% more length.. ya know if you get all STEM about it... I won ’ t go into costs per square foot between the two and it ’s not even really a fair comparison given the different materials used but if your not into packing a piece of square fabric that costs as much as a pair of skis, this is one of the best values out there right now.

This review is based on the fitting of the product- not a review based on usage in the elements. I let it sit out in the sun for 15 minutes- attached the bars underneath the top and it fits perfectly covering the entire Bonfire. I tried the fire ring upside down and turned it over like when using it during a fire and the shelter fits fine. I see the videos/photos of this sitting on the firepit stand, I assume it should be used that way for breath- ability when storing outdoors. Will review again once used in elements.

The take down process, well there were no instructions but was in a rush so we just folded it and carried it to our trunk. There's adequate interior space to accommodate a comfy( appropriately scaled) camp style chair, mini size cooler, and large tote bag/ backpack. The two side windows, front door, and small flap in the back can be unzipped according to preference and comfort needs. Unlike other weather pods, the front door unzips from the top down rather than the reverse which is much more suitable for control of visibility and comfort. The pod comes with stakes for added stability during increment and/or windy weather. I also like that it comes with a carrying case. The pod is quite easy to open and close once you practice a few times and become more familiar with the process. However, I found it very helpful to first view the video on the manufacturer's website. I highly recommend this amazing pop up pod for protection and comfort on cooler, windy, and/or rainy days. It's also nice when you prefer your own space and would rather not converse with others. It's definitely been an eye- catcher too and I 'm frequently asked about where to purchase this Perfect Pod!

We have used this tent for a couple of years now and still love it. Once we got the hang of it, set up was much easier. We place a tarp underneath to protect the floor, as well as some plastic sheeting on top of the flooring. I think this will increase the life of the flooring. We 've weathered some big storms and have remained leak proof. We are able to fit 3 cots in the main area, and two slim twin sized blow up mattresses in the bed of our van, thus we can sleep 5 fairly comfortably. This was an excellent start- up tent for new campers.

Set up& tear down are simple& intuitive and take only about 20 min. if you take your time. The tent itself is very spacious and easy to connect to the vehicle. It fits our vintage station wagon very nicely. Quality of workmanship and materials appears to be a little better than average, but not rugged. After unfolding the tent the second time we did notice some marring on one of the screens, apparently from the plastic pole sockets. Be sure to use the protective bags that go over these hard plastic pieces before folding for storage. Also while folding, I reached for a corner on the screen room& got only the tarp- like edging that borders the bottom seam& it tore away at the edge a little. Again, not really the fault of the manufacturer, just another area where you need to be carful when setting up& tearing down. To sum up, it is a great product, well designed and easy to use, but its not fool proof.

The mechanism to open and close this canopy is genius. It takes a minute to get the hang of it, but can absolutely be fully opened with legs extended in a minute, by yourself. More importantly, you can close it yourself( also very easily) in just seconds, and without needing to recruit three other people to help you like other canopies. This canopy is far better quality than any of the typical canopies you see at tailgates or soccer tournaments. It's heavier than other canopies, but it comes with a great quality bag with wheels which makes it easy to move. The straight- leg design means that you have a full 10 x 10 covered area as many other brands have angled legs which make the space under the canopy smaller than 10x10. This one feels much bigger than a typical canopy. I will be showing this off and recommending to all of my tailgate friends and fellow lacrosse parents. I got the grey color which is simple and neutral.

This canopy is incredible. We use it for youth baseball tournaments and everyone that sees it thinks it's awesome. It is absolutely the easiest canopy I 've seen to put up and take down. It is of better quality than any others also. Only thing that you will need to get used to is that is much heavier than others you may have used in the past, but that is due in large part to the quality. It would have benefited also from having tie points for the anchor system to tie it down but it is manageable. Be careful also not to drop it on the wheels when unloading as the pins that hold the wheels will bend due to the weight.

Hats off to the engineers at GCI.... The old days of 2 or four people pulling each corner of a canopy outwards are over. This canopy makes it crazy simple for one person to quickly set up a canopy without needing any support from others. Be ready to have onlookers impressed with your new rig. In the first week of owning this canopy, I was able to use it camping with my family and also at a Lacrosse Tournament. While we were setting up our tent, a quick thunderstorm was passing through. We quickly set this up over our tent to prevent rain from getting in the tent.( we did n't trust the rain fly on our tent). We also used this canopy as a sun shelter while camping. At the lacrosse tournament, this canopy stood out among the others with its stylish branding and blue color. The lax team and families were able to quickly find our home base under the canopy. This was our location for gear, drinks, snacks, and resting between games. The biggest challenge with this canopy is the expectation that it operates like canopies from the past. Knowledge and experience with past canopies and their design may impede upon learning a new technology and design. People will find that the Initial set up is very different. GCI created clever instructions and a great video to learn the new method. I 'm not someone to read directions so the video was useful for me. Once you 've learned the set up method... subsequent set ups are like riding a bike. Bonus features of this canopy are- Solid carrying case with wheels, handles, pocket for stakes and big opening for sliding the canopy in and out.- Robust sturdy framing- Double layer padded friction spots to prevent any tearing- Flick down legs for quick assembly- Stylish and robust canopy fabric- Air vents at the top to allow wind and air movement areas that could use improvement...- bigger wheels on bag would help with rough terrain but current wheels do alright- maybe a longer velcro pull strap on the canopy to wrap around the corner of the tent frame to get more adherence to velcro.- Would love it if there was an optional mosquito screen accessory All in all, I 'm loving this canopy... its a game- changer! I will never go back to the old style of canopies!

[ I recently had the pleasure of using this fantastic 6- person tent on a camping trip, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations! Although it ’s labeled for six people, it comfortably fits four with plenty of space for everyone to stretch out and relax, but that ’s common for tents and I expected that going in and in a survival scenario you probably could squeeze six in there. The black- out interior is really nice as it provides a perfectly dark environment for a restful night ’s sleep, even if the sun is still out as can be common during the mid- summer evenings. I thought the interior would be hotter being mostly black, but it actually wasn ’ t bad. Regardless we were camping during the summer, so we opened the air flow flaps that still have a mesh covering to keep out bugs but allow for additional cooling. What truly impressed me was the ease of setup. I was skeptical of the 60- second advertisement for setup, but I actually had the tent pitched and ready in under 60 seconds, which made settling in a breeze and left more time for enjoying our surroundings. The design is intuitive and straightforward, making it ideal for anyone new to the outdoors. I will say that it is bulky, so there would not be a way to take it on a backpacking trip, but it is great for and really shines at a campground site. It ’s in a long bulky bag, so it might be a little difficult to pack in the car with camping equipment. Overall, this tent combines comfort and convenience in one nice package.

[ Was looking for a car camping tent, larger and more comfortable than the backpacking tent I 've had for ages. The DogHouse would sleep 2 very comfortably, you could sleep 4 if you do n't mind being a sardine. Steep sided walls gives the tent a very spacious feel. I could erect and take down the tent solo, but did struggle a bit the first time I pitched the tent to insert the tent pole into the final grommet. Also took me a while to figure out how to get the horizontal top pole out of the snap when breaking the tent down. Overall, the tent erected pretty quickly and easily in subsequent uses after the fabric stretched out a bit. Good ventilation, beefy stakes, seems to be a strong, stable tent, certainly fine for summer camping, probably 3 season. Worst conditions I 've been in are moderate wind and rain overnight, and the tent shed water no problem. I 'm assuming the fabric has a DWR coating, and it's unclear how long the waterproofing would last. I did not buy the ridiculously expensive footprint, just used a tarp close to the correct size and that worked fine. Tent material did catch in the zipper when zipping open or close the door. I wonder if anyone has solved this though.

We got some rain, but didn ’ t get wet at all. We were able to fit 4 wide cots inside. I 'm going to be completely honest. I went camping one time and it rained so long and so hard that my tent literally flooded inside to 2 1/2 inches of water. While a bit heavier than just the standard rainfly( which completely makes sense) it is not much heavier. This is great for trips where you expect more rain and/or plan to have a base camp. I really like that it is a full rainfly and large vestibule and not just an add on to the existing fly.

The sleeping bags, pads and tents I 've had from Big Agnes have been phenomenal, and as far as I 'm concerned you 'll be happy with any purchase. [ My first trip with my new Tungsten 1 Person tent was to Big Bend Ranch State Park last November. Temps ranged from lower 80 ’s during the day to lower 40 ’s at night. The tent weighed almost half what my previous one did. I was really happy about that. It also sets up in only a couple of minutes even when using the rain fly. On warmer nights the Tungsten was perfect without the fly. Great views of a star filled sky that way as well. On the coolest nights I was super comfortable with the fly on to help retain some heat. I was pleasantly surprised to find the air circulation was good enough to almost prevent all condensation from building up inside the fly. I am 6 ’ 2 ” and there was plenty of room for me and my long sleeping bag plus all of the gear that makes me happy to have close at hand. Don ’ t misunderstand though; it is definitely a one person tent. After those 4 nights I would definitely recommend this tent. It has all of the quality you would expect from a premium brand like Marmot. Get one for yourself without fear of disappointment.

Pound for pound the best two person backpacking tent I have used. I have used many different brands. This tent replaces a five year old MSR Hubba Hubba. This tent has much taller and straighter side walls. I am 6 ’ 4 ” and I had plenty of leg room. My partner is a petite women and I do think it would be tight for two large men.
