[ I play baseball in a men's league and I 'm the designated catcher. I 've used several types of chest projectors before but this was my first time trying the Rawlings brand. From someone who wears lots of sporting equipment, I am very happy with this Rawlings Velo chest protector. This particular version is available in two sizes- intermediate and adult. I 'm 5'11 '' and 200lbs and tried the adult size. It fit very nicely around my stomach, chest, arms, shoulders and back. There are two adjustable straps that hook from the lower back to the lower stomach area. The back is also adjustable to fit snug over the upper back and shoulder area. As for the padding, it is placed in the right locations, in my opinion. There is extra thick padding protecting the upper chest down to the stomach, with lighter padding on the sides and upper shoulder area. Being right handed, there is also an adjustable velcro shoulder pad for my throwing arm. I 've taken a few foul balls off my chest and I can confirm that it does its job. Despite the tough padding, the chest protector is very lightweight. It does n't affect my stance or throw in any way. The inside material is also mesh and breathable, which helps keep me cool and dry. I am very pleased with this Rawlings Velo chest protector. It's designed very well, made with quality material, fits nicely, and offers great protection. Rawlings is a very reputable baseball brand and equipment like this shows why.

Bought two years ago and very happy with the gear. Daughter was too big for the small and the medium chest protector and shin guards were perfect. The helmet was a large and was a little big but adjusted well, plus she hit that growth spurt at 12 1/2 which took up the slack. Jen Schro gear it tops in quality and protection. My wife said, make sure my daughter is protected so we did our research and asked around with coaches and catchers from the tourneys. We visited. Many rave about Jens gear. My daughter has taken several foul balls to the face and a bat tip to the side of the helmet, and it didn ’ t phase her. We pulled her and checked for confusion and nothing. The shin guards have extra padding for the knees and the chest protector seems to deaden the balls. Highly recommend.

[ This is my kid's 3rd set. She hates white, and finds the USA tacky. So, we 've done two sets of black. She HATES change, so I almost bought the black again. Decided on the Charcoal. She was SO excited! It really is a slick color. And I do n't know that we 've seen another kid wear it. Totally glad I went with a different color. As for the gear, the quality has always been good. Many competitors' chest protectors are bulky! This looks fitted! No complaints on helmet or shin guards. Expensive?? Sure. But some competitors cost more for their `` very best. '' Highly recommend.
