Iceman!
I used a Milwaukee M18 drill and it would bore a hole just as fast as a gas one, maybe even faster with its instant torque. And it's super light which I really like.

Got this a month ago for Mora 6 ” hand auger. A little pricey but worth it. Used a couple times now with an old craftsman 19. 2 V cordless drill. Drilled a dozen holes thru 10 ” ice no problem. Bought it cause I liked the handle for grip and won ’ t lose it down the hole if it comes loose from the drill( read many reviews on other adapters where that happened). A heck of a lot lighter than pulling around my big gas auger, too.
An auger bit for ice fishing is a specialized tool designed to drill holes in ice for fishing. It typically features a spiral blade that cuts through the ice as it is turned, allowing anglers to create holes of various sizes. The design of the auger bit ensures efficient drilling and helps minimize effort while maximizing speed.
Ice fishing auger bits are often made from durable materials such as high-carbon steel or stainless steel, which provide strength and resistance to corrosion. Some models may also feature coatings to enhance durability and reduce friction. The choice of material can impact the performance and longevity of the auger bit in harsh ice fishing conditions.
When selecting an auger bit for ice fishing, consider the size of the hole you need, the thickness of the ice in your fishing area, and the type of drilling method you prefer. Additionally, look for features such as weight, ease of use, and compatibility with your existing equipment. These factors will help ensure you choose the right auger bit for your ice fishing needs.
Yes, there are various styles of auger bits for ice fishing, including manual and powered options. Manual augers require physical effort to turn the handle, while powered augers use a motor for easier drilling. Additionally, auger bits may vary in blade design, size, and features like centering points, which can affect their efficiency and ease of use on different ice thicknesses.
The right size auger bit for ice fishing depends on the type of fish you are targeting and the thickness of the ice. For larger species, a wider hole may be necessary, while smaller fish can be caught with narrower holes. Additionally, consider the ice conditions in your area, as thicker ice may require a larger bit to ensure effective drilling.
